Fortunately, there was an opening at The Villages in their memory care unit, and we could not be more thrilled with the loving care, attention and comfort our mom enjoys each day. The staff is highly qualified and professional, and they treat our mom like their own. The safety and security is second to none. You cannot get in without your fob and they cannot leave.....NOT what we experienced at another local memory care unit. The housing is comfortable and warm. The common areas are made to feel like home, not an institution. The cleanliness of the facility and the food is above our expectations. If you think you may need memory care for a loved one I suggest you get on the waiting list now. We are so blessed to have found a spot at The Villages.

Bright spots are the PT team is absolutely fantastic and the only reason we stayed. There is a handful of regular staff who actually care and are intent on providing the best care possible, but as in another's review that ratio of good to bad staff is like 1:5. We had a belligerent one fired back in Jan. We have had our relative's social security check garnished without family knowledge and there are days when meals don't arrive for hours or not at all. Personal items have gone missing and non-english speaking laundry staff have been seen stealing hangers when it clearly states on wall that "family does laundry" For a skilled nursing facility to not know how to properly care for an ostomy bag is a problem. For needed medications to be out of supply or not given when required is a problem. For the business office to be rude and abrasive is unacceptable. For dietary to not have consistent meal time delivery and constantly providing the wrong food (ie a Renal diet) then saying" we have no bread" when asked for a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich....wrong. There is some good....the PT department is on fire! They care, they celebrate, they encourage the patients. The Bistro actually gets some good meals out. The activities offered are diverse and fun. The Social worker team is actually sympathetic and has filled in the gaps when needed. Staff who get gold stars include Sylvio and Twin, Rena and Thomas in PT (their whole staff), Casey, and the staff at the front desk are friendly. There are others, some of the female nurses at night, but the temporary and untrained staff are more prevalent. Much turnover.

The facility is super nice and the people who work their treat you really really well. They validate your parking which is nice and its also helpful to know they have someone looking over your car. I was there someone who we thought might be suffering from appendicitis. He kept us in the room for two or three hours while he verified all the test that indeed it was that rather than some of the other problems that can manifest with the same symptoms he prescribed treatment with antibiotics and she is doing very well. I don't just recommend the facility. I recommend this as a very unusual old-school. Very careful very up-to-date on the literature healer that can be a person for anyone in need.

Ramp to the sidewalk leads to steps in both directions. I'm in a wheelchair . Office Staff said yea, no one ever knows how to get in and they don't know why they don't have signs. My daughter used the stairs and found out I needed to go in the street and enter through a side entrance where they have a single wheelchair lift inside. Then we find out although their Website says they accept my insurance, they don't. The receptionist says everyone tells them that they accept this insurance but they do not. Said no one can ever show her where it says that they do, like somehow we all imagine it. Within 30 seconds showed her and yes, says it right there. Not like it would change anything but now maybe they can change it. Still, my insurance no longer accepts my previous doctor and my new doctor can't see me for 3 months. I have multiple sclerosis and need medication and new handicap placard. $220 for a visit plus any tests they need, but I have no choice, I have to see someone. I paid the fee. While waiting to be called back, they let me know they can't fill out a form for placard. Initially it was because they didn't have a form. Then it was because although they have the placard required MD ( as opposed to DO, NP, etc) they are not authorized to fill out the form. By then I gave up. It shouldn't be this hard. When we were leaving, the receptionist pointed at the lift I should use so I didn't have to go in the street around the bank to use the outdoor ramp. Never used one like this before . The ramp was steep and I was nervous about tipping back but my daughter helped me use it. Not any offer of any assistance. This place was empty. A walk in clinic with no one in or out the 30 minutes we were there. I think I know why lol. The receptionist was polite. Just unhelpful. As she was aware of all of these issues, one would think someone would do something to resolve them.

Fortunately, they were proactive and did not have the usual three reams of paperwork to fill out. The checked on my VA health care benefits and I ended up using another insurance as the path of least resistance but they gave me the number to call to get the VA thing squared away. This has got to be the closest to a small-town doctor's office of old that I could imagine. All family run, from the front desk to the nurse to the doc himself. They listened, they gave suggestions to help mitigate the discomfort. The only thing they couldn't do was speed up the recovery.....they can't control time. What they do do is respect your time. In and out in a jiffy but not rushed at all. They prove medical care shouldn't be an all-day affair. I left there feeling sick but knowing I was on the path to recovery. While I don't live there, I do visit, and if I need an MD I know the OneStop I am going to make and it is at One Stop Medical......Thanks. So if you are on the road or around the corner and under the weather this is the place to go.

There is also a TV and complementary coffee bar for those in the lobby to enjoy. I walked up to the window and was very pleasantly greeted with a smile. I was given the paperwork and instructions that I needed to get started. After a short wait, I was called back so that my fit Test could be performed. The test was performed proficiency and in a timely manner. I was given both the signed paper copy as well as a nice wallet card with my fit Test results. I was informed that my results would also be electronically sent to my employer and that there was no need to check out because I was good to go. I really appreciated how pleasant EVERY employee was that I encountered. Even the individuals passing in the hall smiled and greeted me.

Well have had numerous appointments here for Ultrasounds, but this was my first MRI…read more Got checked in quickly, and staff were very friendly, and after paperwork and some questions my MRI was underway. The one thing that i noticed that was different at this office versus last years MRI at a different Shands location, was no mirror by your head to see operator running your test.Also no headphones with music , just ear plugs and foam blocks by your ears. Each locations has different styles of machines, so take that into account when scheduling a scan. I learned that today. The 2 ladies /nurses /technicians did take great care of me and communicated throughout the MRI process with me.
