Double Luck was recently placed on Infatuations top 25 best restaurants in Miami. For that reason I…read morehave to give my honest review as I feel like that deserves merit. Merit that I do not think Double Luck deserves just yet. My honest review is more like 3.5 stars. The atmosphere and service were great, particularly I can say that the servers had a great attention to detail with all the tables. It felt like they came at all the right times and had a keen on instantly picking up trash from a table or dirty plates that made us feel great and well taken care of. Now onto the food, we started off with crab raccoons, and the say the least it was pretty underwhelming, and not as expected. The filling had a strong almost like cheese, filled paste, very little crab, taste, and feel. We then ordered the eardrop salad with cucumber, and I would like to say this was probably the best meal of the night and it was a salad very refreshing light great textures, a true delight. We then proceeded to order the crab fried rice along with the Hennessy chicken. The crab fried rice was good as you would expect. It's fried rice and nothing special. Nothing on this world could probably get this anywhere and have the same taste in fuel. Good size was the portion it's completely shareable with one other person which was honestly great. The Hennessy chicken was just how you would expect it like walking into a more upscale panda express. Overall, that's just how it felt like we were at a more elevated. Upscale Chinese restaurant did not really feel too traditionally Chinese just maybe a place that wants to look sexy for the Instagram photos. To be put on a top 25 restaurant in Miami with the great places and and who is I think you need to really elevate your game and stand out when it comes to the food and not just the gimmicks. I have a true soft spot for the hospitality industry so I would never give a restaurant three stars as I know how hard it is to do good and great work so I hope double luck the best and that they could truly elevate their game and come with more unique dishes.

Other sides that we got were fries, onion rings, the baked beans, mac & cheese, and candied yams. Our favorites were the baked beans and yams! Our service was also excellent! *INITIAL REVIEW*…read more Today, my family and I celebrated Mother's Day given the fact one of my sisters and I would be too busy to celebrate it on the actual day. Ergo, we made a trip down to Vero Beach and had fun at both McKee Botanical Gardens and the Vero Beach Museum of Art (VBMA), both which got stellar reviews by me in the past. In between both locales, we were hungry and needed to eat someplace local. I had some suggestions, but my mom was in the mood for seafood. As a suggestion from reviews, The Crab Stop of Vero Beach was ultimately decided upon. I have to say, I am happy this restaurant was suggested because it is very good. Even though an address is provided, The Crab Spot of Vero Beach (which I will shorthand simply to Crab Spot for the remainder of this review) is located on the southside of the entryway into Royal Palm Place, one of the many extensions leading out into the water near US-1, but this one is known for the Royal Palm Park at the end. Initial display, decor, and ambiance has the stereotypical local dive bar look with elements showcasing they specialize in seafood, and the little bits of rustic flaws adds a bit of character for what they are. I would not expect such a look for a high-end restaurant, but this works for a local place on the river. The chairs squeeked, the table wobbled a bit in which the waitress fixed with some coasters, and the plates were chipped. No problem at all. There was even outdoor seating in the back bar-style which gives you a nice view of the canal that leads to the river. It was high sun, so we opted for the air conditioning. Now we move on to the food. I have to say that the majority of our food was really good, and when you adjusted to what you are eating, it was top-notch. Key word, however, is the "majority." The good: the hush puppies basket as you get 10 hush puppies that are lightly-seasoned with 1000 island sauce. If you eat one, it is probable you might think it is light on seasoning. However, they are small and finishing all 10 won't be a problem. The flavor builds with each hush puppy, which was smartly done compared to what most seafood places do: give you like two to five hush puppies of large size and high flavoring. The wings, however, used a hot sauce that was mostly vinegar. This ruined the wings for me, and if my stepdad ordered 20, he'd be eating the majority of them. Everything else was top-notch and delicious. Altogether, my family ordered the Fish and Chips, Mahi Sandwich, Fried Catfish Sandwich, Sea Scallop Snack Pack, and the Crab Cake Dinner. Details for each dish in the pictures. On a sidenote, the restroom was okay as in clean and stocked, but not the best-looking restroom I seen. Maybe the "character" could have not be extended to the restroom. Ultimately, I am giving Crab Stop four out of five stars. I do enjoy a good "mom n' pop" place as I prefer to support local and small, but since this is the only time I went, I can't justify a five-star rating until they prove to be consistent. I will be back as there is another park just south of this business that has geocaches that need to be found AND I may also try to hide a traditional letterbox here. But take note for a local seafood stop, this place is good to go.

The mashed potatoes and gravy were also just what I was looking for. The other side I chose was corn fritters - just ok but perfectly fine, although more batter to corn ratio would have made them more desirable. Hubby had the chicken fried chicken and he loved it and his sides of potatoes and mac n cheese. Our family had fried chicken and they thought it was crispy outside, fried well and juicy inside. They also ordered a grilled ham and cheese with a side salad. Didn't get a ton of feedback on the meal but the plate was pretty well cleaned off when we got up! Our waitress was fast, efficient and really sweet. She quickly brought to go containers for our food and drinks. The ambiance of the restaurant gave it a very homey and rural feel, which was just fine with us. It sits nexts to the state farmers market which was not running during our visit. However it was still busy when we sat down to eat at 2 pm. Recommend it!
