Really great brunch spot, especially if you can sit outside. We went on a super bright, sunny morning and the view over the water from the patio is beautiful. It's one of those places where the setting makes the meal better, and it's hard to beat for a relaxed morning in Friday Harbor and was the prettiest meal of our trip. I got the eggs benedict with smashed fried potatoes, plus the blueberry pancakes. The Benedict was very good, but the potatoes were easily the standout, SO crispy and delicious. Seriously, you have to get them. The blueberry pancakes were also great and made for a good sweet follow-up after the benedict. We both got the benedict plus we shared the pancakes which probably was too much food! Service was excellent too. Everyone on staff was super friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out smoothly. They offered to sub crab but went with the BLT. It was delicious. If you love bacon this is for you. A ton of bacon on it which is very delicious. The best we've had in a very long time. Dinner was decent. The angus burger was delicious with great fries. The flatbread was nothing worth ordering again. Was more like a pita with lots of sauce and under melted cheese. Listen to the reviews about the salmon. Don't take the chance like I did. It was the worst I've ever had. Cold, flavorless (except for a pungent fishy taste like it was undercooked and unsafe to eat), the skin was mushy and left attached (which is fine if the skin is cooked well). The potatoes were hard and had huge salt crystals that just hurt my teeth. My husband got the NY strip steak, he was equally unimpressed but at least he could eat his food without drinking water to aid in swallowing each bite. The service was kind but awkward. They would stand there and not ask any questions, I had to ask if it was time to order. They shouldn't be charging the prices they are for the quality (or lack thereof). A small perfect restaurant with an amazing view. The breakfast menu is fantastic and something for everyone. Multiple types of eggs Benedict and we chose the standard Canadian bacon. The bacon was perfectly salty and the poached eggs perfect! The hollandaise sauce was amazing and not too little or too much. The fried potatoes were nice and hot, crispy and soft inside. Well seasoned as well. A perfect breakfast. I had a Bloody Mary as well and chose the spicy mix. It is definitely spicy! The mix was very flavorful and the special salted rim was a perfect match. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. You can tell a lot of locals come here to eat. They filled up quickly and everyone seemed to know each other even as a restaurant in a hotel. We stayed at Friday Harbor House for a mini vacation. We ate at the restaurant 4 times (once via room service). The good: our first dinner was roast chicken and duck fat fries - all very yummy and well cooked. Our first morning breakfast was served fast and tasted good. Unfortunately, the rest wasn't quite as good. On that first dinner everything was hot except the mashed potatoes which were like warm. Breakfast was over priced for what it was. On the first and last day there I had the eggs Benedict. The first day was decent. The hollandaise sauce was a bit too thick, but the eggs were cooked well. On the second day I had blueberry pancakes. They said they came with compote and fresh blueberries. There was one fresh blueberry on top. They also did not bring me any syrup and the wait staff never checked on us for any meal. On the third day I went back to the eggs Benedict. Disaster. The eggs were poached hard and the hollandaise sauce was like a brown gravy. It was thick and had a skin on top that was cracked. It was a brown color. This was a Monday morning so I'm guessing it was left over from the day before and no where near fresh. The potatoes were clearly scraped from the last bits being mostly broken pieces instead of the whole potatoes we'd gotten before. The wait staff had to be flagged down for our check then didn't come back to say they were waiting on credit to be applied on our room. We were in a hurry so we would have happily paid by credit card. We had to get up and find the waitress to tell her this and find out what was taking so long after waiting 10 minutes. If they didn't change gourmet prices, I'd wouldn't be complaining about substandard Benedict, but as they do change those prices it's hard to settle. It was an unfortunate last meal. read more

We stopped in for breakfast. I had a classic breakfast with a side of their pepper gravy for the potatoes. The potatoes were very good. They didn't need the gravy at all! I chose this restaurant based on the positive yelp reviews, and want to save you the heartache of making the same mistake by leaving this honest review. We started off with the Korean style cauliflower, and the clams both of which were adequate, but missing any herbal element or fresh garnish. For our sides, we ordered the smoked carrots, which were served on a wood plank, smoky, shriveled, and underwhelming. Our other side was "broccolini", which came to the table in the form of soggy, bolted cauliflower in a pool of salty brown water. You might think that swapping fresh, seasonal broccolini for a bolted vegetable that most farmers would throw out would be the worst offense of the meal, but you would be wrong. Two bites into the poblano burger, a crumble of meat fell to my plate to reveal a dark, curly corkscrew of hair woven through it. This hair did not merely fall on during the assembly of the finished burger, it was fully cooked inside the patty. The chicken breast was strange and the barley came fully unseasoned and was accompanied by fava beans that were unpeeled, something any home cook even knows is paramount. The thick, leathery, inedible shell was left intact and required the diner to manually remove each slippery bean from its chewy encasing. Two stars because our waiter was apologetic. read more

Before ordering, we asked the waitress to confirm, "are those the wings?" She confirmed they were. We received our wing order and it looked nothing like the table next to us. 5 chewy mediocre wings for $16?? Unbelievable. She probably should have mentioned "the three of you will be sharing 5 small wings". We had ordered our food at the same time as the wing appetizer. We watched every single table around us (people who showed up after us) receive their food, finish their meals, pay and leave and we continued to wait. After 1.5 hours and 4 water refills, we still had not received our food and our waitress was nowhere to be found. We left enough cash on the table to cover the wings and beverages and walked out. We passed our waitress on the way out as she was delivering food to a table indoors. Perhaps that is the cut and I'm not aware of the halibut and polenta were devoid of any flavor other than the olive oil. Added another great spot to go in Friday Harbor tonight! Simply called, "The Restaurant at Friday Harbor House" is located just off the lobby of the Friday Harbor House hotel. The indoor seating area is pretty small but they have a large outdoor seating patio area for good weather. We started with an appetizer of "Crispy Brussels" and it was amazing! Perfectly roasted with perfect texture and flavor. A must have if you like Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer! Next we had main courses of pan seared black cod, served on a bed of spinach with artisan tartar sauce and a side of mashed potatoes. The fish was wonderful, paired nicely with the spinach and tartar. The mashed potatoes were excellent and a large portion. I had the Harbor House Burger which is a half pound Wagu burger topped with bacon, cheese and fresh greens on a brioche bun. I absolutely loved it, cooked to perfection as I wanted it and full of flavor! I also had the duck fat French fries and they were so good! I was so full though that I couldn't finish the fries. Our server Elsa (not sure of spelling) was amazing as well and went above and beyond for us! If you come to Friday Harbor, eat here! You won't be disappointed! We had 9:15 breakfast reservations on a Saturday and had no trouble getting seated. Staff were accommodating for an unexpected addition to our party so that was great. The view of the harbor/water is good, though maybe better if you get the one 2-person table right by the main window. Services was quick and friendly. We had the garden eggs benedict (excellent!) and smoked salmon omelette (good, a bit heavy with eggs and smoked salmon). My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Friday Harbor House. We started out with cocktails and delicious mussels. My drink was some sort of elderberry vodka champagne concoction that was refreshing and herbal. We share the scallop chowder and a beet salad for dinner. The chowder was smokey and rich. A full bowl would be a meal in itself. The salad was equally good, and the salmon was so much more flavorful than the farm raised stuff we get in California. To top it off, we had a yummy brownie sundae for dessert. The service is so friendly and professional at the same time. The view from the deck is wonderful. We had a really great time at the Friday Harbor House restaurant although it took us awhile to find the entrance. We started out with morning cocktails which was good and refreshing. The boyfriend had the avocado toast which he said was good. I had the beyond burger and boy let me tell you, i have my fair share of plant based burgers and this is THE BEST!! $25 can be steep for a burger but if it's that good I will be back to Friday Harbor just to have it again!! Burger was juicy, and just full of flavor. Amazing! The service was so friendly and quick. Since it's fall season the deck is fully closed so seats are limited. What a way to start our day! It is exactly what I did! 4 glasses later, and wow! It leads to a 5 star review! We love the fries here! The menu by the fire pit is limited so you will need reservations for a table if you want to enjoy dinner. One night there was they fit us in so we could enjoy dinner. The burger! Yes of course, that is what my husband ordered. It was so good! I had the filet tips and halibut ceviche. The ceviche is not your typical mexican ceviche so I probably wouldn't order it again. You're on vacation in Friday Harbor. You see this restaurant come up on Yelp. It has good reviews. You see throngs of silver haired elite enjoying locally sourced higher mid level dining. Then the food arrives. And it couldn't be more underwhelming if they did so intentionally. People shouldn't need to ask for salt and pepper at something other than a breakfast spot or a chain restaurant. The mushroom risotto was offensive. The poblano cauliflower poblano soup was an affront to God. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of one because the service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, our servers didn't prepare our food... some person that wants to leave Friday Harbor and never return likely made our food. We could taste their malaise with each bite. I felt like asking the server if the kitchen staff needed a hug because the food tasted like childhood trauma. I know what you're doing. You don't have competition. You think you can do whatever and people will gleefully shove it down their throats. Maybe they will. But I won't. Never again. Sorry for the angry tone of this review but I took my girlfriend here on her birthday and, well, it wasn't fulfilling... to say the least. read more

An excellent option for Breakfast/brunch and Dinner. We enjoyed our first breakfast so much we booked dinner for post whale watching and breakfast the next day after a morning of photography. First breakfast: smashed avocado toast with side of in house kimchi and coffee loaded with baileys. Very tasty and the kimchi gave it the kick I like. The winning adult beverage for the group was the Fairy Garden. It really looks like a garden Dinner: scrumptious bread, halibut ceviche, pork ribs with chimchurri. All solid flavors Second breakfast: avocado eggs Benedict. Nice option without the salty Canadian bacon and rich in flavor. The Bloody Mary is perfect for brunch and could be a meal in itself. Exceptional customer service! I didn't catch our waitresses name, but she was fantastic! Food was good, but the views and environment were even better. The crab risotto was flavorful and a much bigger portion than I expected. I wish there was more crab in the risotto considering how big the portion was. The halibut was great and light. The carrots were good, but had way too much oil for me (even though I enjoy oil!). Reservations were recommended, although I think only a handful of people were dining while we were enjoying dinner. We were not rushed, which I really loved. It allowed us to take in the great views and enjoy our cocktails. We got super luck with nice weather so we were able to stay outside on the patio, although the restaurant is prepared for rain and will bring guests inside if the weather doesn't cooperate. We came for lunch on a Friday during a holiday weekend. The menu for lunch consisted of two options: a build your own burger, or a build your own charcuterie board. We got one of each. The burger was delicious, but very messy. The charcuterie board concept was very cool, a la carte. All individual ingredients were very good, but more bread should have been included (typical for a charcuterie board). The board was small, made for two people, $40 for the quantity was a bit pricey. The atmosphere was great, with a great view of the harbor. The service was lacking. We had to get up to find our server for the bill. All in all great food but not a five star experience. read more
