What a great find! Julie was fantastic and so accommodating to our many requests. Kitchen service was prompt and efficient. Food was really great! Had the lasagna (which was huge) and the spaghetti with meatballs. Ended the dinner with the home made hot fudge sundae.

A really solid choice at Friday Harbor! They were able to squeeze my party of 4 in right before the dinner rush, and we're pretty fortunate we did, because this place was great. The restaurant had a dark, romantic feel, which gave the feeling of a more upscale eating experience. We all got separate pasta dishes, so I can only really speak for my own, but I'd still like to give a quick kudos to the restaurant for having a gluten free pasta option. My friend said that texturally, the gluten free pasta was a bit strange, but tasted good otherwise. My fettuccine alfredo was super creamy, but did not have a very oily taste to it that many restaurants struggle with when it comes to alfredo. It was solid! Overall, if you're on the island and looking for a bit of variety outside of seafood, this is a nice addition to your trip.

We got there at 6:59 for our 7 pm reservation, and when we checked in, the hostess told us we were "a little early" and asked us to wait in the waiting area. Lol? We were seated shortly after, but then waited quite a while before our waitress came by to take our drink orders. Right away, both my friend and I felt an awkward coldness from her (we confirmed this with each other after). She spilled my drink on the table while setting it down, got our appetizer order wrong (though we ended up getting a free one out of it), and then toppled over my friend's entire drink, which got on my phone and jacket. Overall, it felt like a bit of a mess, and the dinner service was painfully slow. We were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes. That said, the bacon blue cheese side salad was solid, and we liked both mushroom appetizers. The scampi didn't live up to expectations; the noodles were overcooked. The bananas foster had good flavor but was oddly melty and soup-like by the time it reached the table. Unfortunately, I wouldn't come back.

Based on a recommendation from a local, we made a reservation on a Tuesday evening at 6:15. We called and they called us back to verify. We really enjoyed Vinny's. The hostess was super sweet and our service from Jesus was wonderful. The calamari was superior and the lasagna was very tasty. We might caution you - if you arrive late - some of their specialties may be gone as we got the last two servings of lasagna and the restaurant I believe was open for a few more hours. Get there early if you want the yummy food!!

Great vibe. High energy, lively conversations. Friendly professional staff. Vinny's is the best restaurant on the island for a fine lively friendly dining experience. First impressions are first impressions: Greeted by a very accommodating Maitree-d who sat me at the perfect table in the corner. Great quiet little space where I could feel very comfortable being at a table for one:) The me is was a wonderful assortment of pastas, salads, apps, and main courses. I chose the rec of my waiter and ordered the seafood pasta. With an app of fried oysters. This was a very indulgent caloric meal that I thoroughly enjoyed. Honestly just the most delicious fresh meal I have had in a long time. The staff was super attentive. I just loved my dining experience here and you will too. Ciao!

    Seafood pasta

Staff were friendly but the service was a little slow. The food was just ok. I got the seafood pasta - shrimp, scallops and salmon. I was told there was cod, but I didn't locate any in my bowl. The chicken piccata came with one tiny 4oz filet of chicken. I was underwhelmed. It was fine, but I wouldn't fight for a seat there.

Feeling all the good island vibes here at Vinny's in Friday Harbor. From the warm greeting by the hostess to the great service from Cory. Perched on one of the side streets in the downtown area, you can tell that this spot is frequented by return patrons. They have a nice cocktail and wine menu to pair with traditional Italian fare. We started off with the signature calamari and garlic prawns. Mains were good portion size and the fave at the table was the carbonara. Ended with the classic tiramisu.

    Bella Nova

The food was delicious. Great service. Ambiance was great. Bella Nova and Garlic Prawns were great. Food portions were large.

What a totally unexpected culinary surprise! We had been visiting Friday Harbor and other San Juan Islands, and we stopped into Vinny's Ristorante with a party of five. We each ordered something different, and every single item was not just great, but superior by far to any Italian food. I've had in a very long time! The calamari was crispy and peppered with pinenuts and currents as is done in many Mediterranean dishes. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, which was a flavorful punch of deliciousness. I tasted the fettuccine and the spaghetti and all were amazing! Everybody got a dessert so we tried the Sundaes, the lava cake and, my personal favorite, the bananas Foster. It's been a long time when such an array of food was provided, and every single dish was so good that one continues eating even though you think you can't eat another bite! I highly recommend this hidden gem and tell Julie we sent you!

It actually kind of 5 course as they gave everyone and initial little bite that the chef put together. I can't quite remember what it was, but I think it was some kind of cauliflower blended bite (see first pic). The price was definitely decent for the four course, it wasn't super expensive or anything. I also tried the goat cheese souflee, which was good, the crab roast was better though, then I had the pasta which needed salt and didnt have much flavor. I will say though that someone got the filet mignon and that was really good. The fondue was basic, but the bread and ice cream was amazing! So biggest takeaway is I think this place is really hit or miss. There's some items that are good/great and others that are really not good/great. So if you come and pick the good stuff I think you'd really enjoy it!

The ambiance is cozy and warm, feeling like you are invited to dinner at your friends home, if your friend also happens to have an exceptional wine cellar, a farm, and is a wonderful chef. The way Duck Soup executes farm to table with such beautiful presentation is really a treat and the combination of textures and flavors was a journey that is worth a trip to San Juan Island alone. We had wonderful service and we were so grateful for recommendations on how to navigate through the menu! We started with the Spiced Carrots - they were incredibly paired with a salad, cracker, and cheese combo - perfection. For the main course we split the scallops and the filet. Scallops were served with fresh fingerling potatoes and this fresh, citrus/herb forward sauce that was so bright and refreshing (we are still talking about it). The filet was cooked great and served with a Demi glacé that was also just so perfect. the pomme puree was also flavorful and had a lot of amazing flavor on its own! Thank you Duck Soup for making our Anniversary memorable - we can't wait to visit again and again.

Having made reservations beforehand, we were really excited to try this place out. The servers who greeted us were really nice. The restaurant had a beautiful dark interior that gave off a cozy steakhouse vibe. They even offered to take my coat, how nice of them! Despite the hospitality, the food did not really live up to expectations. I got the birria, and while it was okay, it definitely wasn't worth the price I paid. My girlfriend's scallop crudel was almost as pricey and it did not even fill her up. I believe the bill for our whole meal (including a mocktail) was over $80. This was definitely not worth the price point paid for, considering that we were not fully satisfied with that meal. Regardless, many thanks to the Monti staff for having us.

The chicken liver with summer tomatoes was magnificent, even if they needed an extra slice of sourdough to finish the plate. The star was the roasted pork belly. I've had many in my day but this was the crown jewel of belly's - succulent, tender inside and crispy edges, and the flavor was off the chart delicious. Rigatoni with lamb did not disappoint and pasta was cooked to perfection. Saved room for chocolate mousse and it was excellent and not too sweet. Wine pairings supported the wonderful meal. I look forward to returning and trying all the dishes we didn't select. This place has it over Rosario and Madrona. Your wallet will be lighter but not unreasonably so.
