Parker House Bed and Breakfast - The amazing 1889 Victorian Parker House in Anniston, Alabama

    Parker House Bed and Breakfast

When we arrived, Scott greeted us and immediately gave us a tour and told us about the history of their amazing 3 story 1889 Victorian home. Their Bed & Breakfast is such a beautiful house with so much character. I just love all the original wood work throughout the house and the original stained glass window that overlooks the gorgeous wooden stair case. They offer 4 rooms to stay in. Each room has a fireplace and 3 rooms have a private bathroom. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The first night a fell asleep with the aroma of a crumb cake that Megan was baking for the next morning. Scott and Megan are very friendly and are great hosts, along with their adorable children. The next time I travel near Anniston, Alabama I will definitely stay here again!

My family loved staying at The Parker House! Scott was there to greet us along with his youngest…read moredaughter. Scott was delightful and was happy to answer all of our questions about the house-it's beautiful and the stained glass window is a must see! The room was bright and sunny when we arrived and we were able to see the sunset that evening (we stayed in the Reynolds Room). Our son slept in the bed with us (king size) and we had some of the best sleep-honestly, we didn't know how our son would do as we don't tend to travel much but I was able to rock him in the rocking chair outside our room and he slept all night long! We went downstairs for breakfast and Scott's oldest daughter had gotten some toys out for our son-they had a great time playing together. Breakfast was delicious and it was nice to be able to sit down with the Brightwell family. Scott and Megan were wonderful hosts and their children are kind, sweet and very bright. If you have children and are worried about traveling with them, don't be! We never felt like our child didn't have space to run around or that he had to be quite the whole time. We hope to be back in the area soon so we can stay here again!

When we arrived we were provided snacks and beverages. Sheila also permits you to view unoccupied rooms which was so much fun, exploring and seeing how other rooms were decorated. Each room has a different theme. A beautiful breakfast is served in the morning. Thanks Shiela for a wonderful time, your home is beautiful!!

Overall would stay here again and recommend staying here to others. Some details from our stay on…read morethe first floor room 1. Highlight was the charm and beauty of the property, quiet and safe nature, and convenient location - overall good value. What can elevate the experience more is below some notes: *Theres no breakfast, which we knew, but there can be perhaps some small pastries? *Outlets were limited....solo travelers probably not an issue; bring extension chords if having multiple outlets is going to be important *Hooks / Hangers were non existent; if you need to hang clothes, make sure to bring clothes you won't need to to iron Water filter inoperative in hallway during our whole stay; a bummer in case you want hot water, tea or coffee. *Lamps in room were nonexistent; it's either using the bathroom light or room light. No in between *Nice bathroom was spacious and a mix of character and modern. Shower pressure was nice and hot. No plungers found anywhere.....we didn't need it but another guests staying stairs was roaming around the hotel to find one for their room and eventually found on in the dining room bathroom. *No staff present - Unless we missed them, we didn't not see any staff present; it's clear someone was cleaning some of the common areas but no one cleaned our room during our stay and again the small details mentioned earlier (broken coffee/hot water machine) would have really elevated our stay. *Overall - Nice mix of classic features + modern touches in the property and room. Beautiful grounds and house with the garden, plants and flowers. You can tell the grounds were kept impeccably. Indoors was also kept immaculate with the exception of the small details mentioned earlier. We utilized the beautiful dining room on our last evening. *Quiet, safe area even for your car despite the transients and homeless in the area. We never felt in danger for ourselves or vehicle. No non-guests were ever seen loitering on the property grounds. *Parking - nice perk in the back of the house as parking is pretty strict in nearby business lots. We also rarely saw indication of other guests other than the cars parked outdoor and one guests we saw in person in the common area. *Great location - easy to find, walkable to stores and restaurants, short drive to grocery.

John and I spent the weekend in the…read morestunning Buck Creek boutique bed & breakfast this is only 20 minutes south of Birmingham and 2.5 hours from Atlanta. And we think this one is going to charm you! Its southern flare meets modern opulence but has an outdoorsy twist. Epic waterfall views from the balcony, gorgeous decor, spacious bedrooms, lavish kitchen and baths, and it is all within steps of historic downtown Helena! The property is two-story new build has all the amenities from large outdoor yard filled with game and a putting green. A spa hot tub for unwinding. Tables and swings for lounging with views of the creek. A large Firepit and outdoor entertaining space. All with views of the creek! As for our unit, I entered the front door, and my jaw dropped. I followed down a long hall to find a stunning, opulent kitchen with a peninsula with seating for four, large farmhouse sink, and gorgeous grey cabinetry. It opens into the living space with a large couch and two lavish chairs. That opens to the second-floor patio that overlooks the large yard below and a view of Buck Creek and its waterfall. We sat out with champagne for hours chatting and taking in the view. Up the stairs back inside is the cutest children's loft with first mural, bunkbeds, and play area. The two bedrooms are off the main hallway. A charming second bedroom off the primary is spacious and clean. It has a bathroom adjacent with stunning black floor tiling. As for the primary, it is in a league of its own. Large king bed flanked by pendant lighting and a can't miss accent wall with a ton of textures, wood, and color. To the left is the main bathroom with two sink vanity and a walk-in shower. The town is literal steps from our unit; downtown Helena is quintessential southern charm. Quaint downtown dotted with local restaurants and a brewery, shopping, and more! We really liked the Brewery in the heart of old town, downtown Helena, Oversoul Brewing. Good beer and friendly staff with live music for the win.

It has a great view and walking to shops and restaurants. The reason for the 4 star rating is the loud train that passes by regularly day and night and I would not consider this a bed and breakfast. Breakfast is offered at an additional cost and they deliver it to your room beforehand for you to cook after you arrive.
