I've been going to get service and oil change here for years, atleast 6 years. I always felt that they did right by me and I've always been treated with kindness. I am a female which sometimes being a female you don't know places to trust because they feel like females know less about cars. I know quite a bit, but unfortunately I can't do my own basic maintenance on my car. 5 days ago after getting my oil changed here I found out some things. I want to add that my vehicle is 6 years old and with only 84,000 miles. Always timely oil changes, change of tires, up keep is done. I came in for my normal oil change and left pleased. I had confidence that the oil was changed, new oil filter, full service as always. The very next morning, I heard knocking in my car, and as I drive it, it got louder and then lost power and knocking grew louder and my car completely stopped. After I had it towed to a mechanic they said it sounds like the motor was gone. They pulled out the oil stick and showed me that the oil was added not changed, just oil added. The oil was tar black in color but you could see where new oil was poured into it. Not even the filter was taken off. On my car you have your pull off a cover to get to the oil filter. Not touched. So basically the oil poured over into the pvc/motor and flooded it. After showing Mac that the oil was not changed and he told me that he would go get my car and look at it, He didn't. Then after going over there and confronting him about it, he said he'd send a tow truck then after that still waiting, he told the tow that I'd have to pay for it. There is no responsibility being taken on his part. He keeps brushing it off. Other mechanics don't want to touch it due to what Xpress lube has done. Mac keeps beating around the bush. Beware of getting a state inspection from this place, not only is the owner Mac Allen one of the rudest repairmen I've ever met, but he scammed my elderly grandmother. What happened was we passed state inspection back in June and for some reason after passing state inspection, and trying to​ renew the vehicle registration that expired at the end of August, the passed inspection wasn't showing in the system in July, per the NC DMV.... odd. Neither a passed nor failed inspection was showing. As we explained what had happened, the owner Mac Allen says we have to get another state inspection, we kindly asked why over the phone, and explained we had already had a passed state inspection before the 90 days. The owner did not want to listen, own up to his mistakes, and stated that all inspections show up in the system very rudely. He was blatantly disrespectful over the phone and didn't even let us get a chance to speak, He told us he will not settle this over the phone and we have to come into the office because we know where he is. It was just disappointing because we were regular customers and thought he was genuine and nice. As my elderly grandmother and i came into the repair shop, he didn't acknowledge we were there or even speak, after telling us we had to come in person. My grandmother was tired and ended up asking another man nicely to help us after waiting for an excruciating amount of time, he said he figured out what the problem was and that passed inspections only show up in the system for only 2 months, but we tried to renew before the 2 months were over, and should a business really be allowed to do state inspections if they only show in the system for an amount of time? Our car was eventually inspected without permission, and i figured out why they didn't want to look in the system for our passed inspection because if they do another inspection and the check engine light is on, they're going to come up with a list of repairs that need to be done before it can pass again. Which is what sadly happened, it's a scheme/scam and it's wrong. He said my catalytic converter needed to be replaced before I could pass inspection, an expensive repair. I contacted the BBB and NC business and consumer complaints and told them what had happened, they ended up closing all complaints due to the business failing to respond. I will definitely let everyone know about this scam of a company and hope others will think about getting any inspections or work done here, I don't recommend it. The owner has caused my family and me a difficult amount of stress, trying to see resolutions so we won't have to pay so much in repairs since August and I don't want others to go through the same thing. Refrain from telling the owner any personal aspects of your life before he can scam you, like where you work, where you're traveling, and anything other than your car. He will ask as he did me about my mother, and at first, I thought he was being nice but it was all part of the scheme. They changed the oil with synthetic, as I requested, and then gave me a price of $72.92. I told them I had a discount code for $20 off and they refused to honor it. They told me that I had to get the oil change first, go home and get a code from the website and then when I came back next time I could get a discount. The owner and the manager were both there and said they wouldn't accept the discount. I read the email with the code and the ad to them right there, but they flatly refused. The owner walked out. I went to Havoline Xpress Lube for a basic oil change on a Friday. Immediately after leaving, my car had white smoke billowing out of the exhaust. I called Mac and was told they topped off the coolant and it was probably burning off. My car continued to have white smoke billing out of the exhaust all weekend so I took it to the dealership on Monday. Come to find out, the reason for the white smoke was that Havoline did not drain my old oil before adding new. My car had almost 12 quarts of oil in it and was burning it everywhere!! Luckily (and hopefully), no other damage was done as I caught it in time. I then called Havoline and was told Mac (owner) would call me back. He never did, so after many repeated calls, Mac finally answered the phone. He stated he would reimburse for the correct oil change I received at the dealership. ****Do not trust this business, owner, technicians nor their false advertising **** I am a Veteran who was in the triad area serving an outreach veterans event when my vehicle water pump broke. I had my vehicle towed to this havoline express lube in Kernersville NC on 7/22/23 for 2-3 hr job but instead took them 5 days to replace the water pump. I picked up vehicle on 7/27/23 and on my way home to Charlotte the check engine light turns on. Never prior to this date was ever on. Took vehicle in to BMW dealership and they discovered that the throttle body gasket was missing and a the lower mounting bolt was snapped to half. For this reason the intake plenum had to be replaced. Replacing broken bolt, missing gasket, new intake plenum and labor cost me $3510.54! I have attempted numerous of times communicate with owner and his only two responses was "let me look in to it" and "do what you got to do!" I even offered to spit this negligent damage repair cost that came to existence due to their false advertisement of having professional experience technicians which we know now is false! This place sucks. I'm a fulltime diesel mechanic I work 50 plus hours a week. My wife came in today with her 2013 Passat. She did this to help take the the burden off my back. Routine oil change and tire rotation. She showed me the receipt for $99. I was price shocked. just before I found the issue I said you have to be careful with these type places. You pay for full service and sometimes they do stuff like not top your power steer or windshield wash off. Low and behold I got to looking, she paid for a tire rotation and they were never rotated. I guess that's what happens when kids do a man's job. Never again, I could be nice and probably get a free oil change But that's not in me. I was in Kernersville for a appointment which was canceled so I decided to get an oil change. I drive up and a attendant comes directly to My Silverado and says he will drive it into the bay. The staff start working on it immediately. The manager at the desk takes care of a customer then disappears. I'm thinking the guy at the desk is not here to check me in but my truck is almost ready. Then the manager comes to the desk gets on a computer and pulls up my name. I correct some details and my truck is ready. Staff have done a great job cleaning my floorboards.
