We toured the facilities, the workshops, we actually sat down for some demos from the visual arts department, and then gathered around a kiln for a raku ceramics demo, which was ideal on a cold winter afternoon (winter in Florida?). Also, we were able to visit the gallery, which was hosting a photograph exhibit on the history of turn of the century Lake Apopka, about 40 miles away due West, and that was very interesting and enlightening. We also printed a poster, among other things. Personally, I think it was fun to talk/meet some of the faculty, not that I am immediately looking for a new teacher, but it is good to pick one who has some similarities, or none at all. Challenge yourself. After this visit, I will consider taking some classes here. Or come to more events. I really like Crealdé.

I called today (9 days before the first day) and I was told that it was too late and the last day was Yesterday (10/09/23) (10 days before first session). I pointed out the policy and was told that "session" didn't mean class and it was incorrect so I couldn't get my money back. This is fraudulent. I will be contacting the correct state department for this. This is extremely unprofessional and clearly lacks clarity. If your policy is outdated, correct it on the website. Denise was extremely patient and helped cut each little part of the fish for me. I was very excited with how both of our stepping stones turned out! This is the perfect place for a fun day learning something new! Whether it is with friends, family, or a date night! Creating stepping stones was a more detailed process than I ever imagined. I am so glad we were able to learn from a professional. I felt like Denise truly gave us the knowledge we needed to continue pursuing this hobby if we wanted. She gave us a book she wrote about how to make stepping stones! I don't usually spend this much on a date. However the price was absolutely worth it after we experienced the process! We did a girls' night here last Friday. It was awesome! The…read moreowner heard we were bringing food so they had set up a table for our food items, in advance. That was so helpful. Picking your project in advance is required so they can have all your stuff ready. The fine details like colors and stains are decided on the spot. Funny enough, 3 out of 7 of us chose the same project! It was the holiday card display board. But even when that happens, as you can see with my picture, they all turned out very different. The class was booked for three hours and we were indeed there for 3 hours. They sell alcoholic bevvies for $5 and had a great selection. They have multiple bathroom stalls there that are very clean. They have a sink in the back with special soap that takes off any paint you might get on your hands/ nails. The staining process you gotta be careful with and wear the gloves. And the sanding process please be careful. A friend got a huge splinter which was bleeding. They helped us clean it up and put a bandaid on it so she could keep creating. Employees were super helpful and easy to flag when you needed help. But they pretty much roamed around the whole time and jumped in to help workout needing to be called over. I was impressed. They took group photos for us and we left with our beautiful projects! We can't wait to come back. They have events for kids as well.

Four of us came for a private group workshop to celebrate my birthday and had the best time. It was…read moreon my wish list for a while and I'm so glad we found Orlando Glassblowing Center to make it happen! We each made 1 large item and could choose from a list of options. Since we chose 3 different things to make, we got to see different processes and learn more about how you can make the glass do various things, use the tools, etc. We chose a drinking glass, a wavy bowl, and a thick bowl. Each of us was able to choose whatever color or color combo we wanted as well, so there was a lot of opportunity for customization. The staff member who worked with us was informative but also funny and kept the whole session interesting even during the times when someone else was making their item and the rest of us were just watching. He told us which items were a little more hands on so we could do more parts of the process as well. The items need to be held for a few days before pick up, but the pick up process was also simple. We truly had a great time and would love to come back.

We visited Florida glass house on a Saturday night for a glassblowing workshop. Each of us got to decide whether to make a globe ornament or a flower. The flowers were beautiful, but I'm very utilitarian so I went with a globe. The instructor who also owns the studio walked us through all the custom color blends he makes for his glass and that was awesome. One thing that was awesome about this workshop for someone who had never done any glass work before was that he really wouldn't let us fail. Our instructor was with us every step of the way and walked us through how we should do things and would help us if things were going awry before it became an issue. He was very good at his job and answered all of my questions about his tools and the process without hesitation. He was super friendly and showed us an installation that he was working on for a show soon too. I really enjoyed this workshop, and it's awesome that we got to take something home. I'd definitely go back for another workshop. They also do group workshop events too.

The owner, Chrissie, is responsive, extremely helpful, and knows exactly what she's doing. For example, we had someone show up late that hadn't RSVP'd, and Chrissie seamlessly brought the child in, found her a place to sit, helped her pick her pottery and colors, and got her set up as if nothing was amiss. I was so happy with this experience. My daughter and her friends had a great time and there were no hiccups to be seen. I will definitely continue to come back for other events and activities.
