We were greeted and spoke with the owner of the store for a while. I ordered The Raven specialty slushie. It is made from mango, strawberry, lemon, rum and triple sec. It was delicious. I had to keep reminding myself to pace myself and not to drink too fast. It was that good. It was not too strong and tasted great. Calliope Street offers painting classes. You only need 4 people minimum for a private party. They not only provide slushies but also offer other alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages for purchase. The owner, Chrissie, is responsive, extremely helpful, and knows exactly what she's doing. For example, we had someone show up late that hadn't RSVP'd, and Chrissie seamlessly brought the child in, found her a place to sit, helped her pick her pottery and colors, and got her set up as if nothing was amiss. I was so happy with this experience. My daughter and her friends had a great time and there were no hiccups to be seen. I will definitely continue to come back for other events and activities. An instructor led us from beginning to end making a bowl. They were very thorough, patient, and welcoming. We sat down on the wheel forming our clay within minutes, I'd say we had our fully formed bowls within 30-45 minutes. They pulled them for us and began drying them for us to glaze at the tables with the turntables. The place was pretty empty so they let us take our time with glaze. Overall a great experience! From there make your way to their large display of paint brushes, pencils, sponges and different textures for your pottery with a nice array of beautiful colors of paint to choose from. We created our plate on Tuesday and it was ready for pick up on Sunday. They charge based on the pottery item itself and not by the hour. Meaning, you can spend all day perfecting your masterpiece if you'd like. It's also BYO food, drinks, etc. or they have a small selection of snacks and drinks if you prefer. The staff are incredibly helpful by explaining the process step by step and are willing to provide a helping hand and even suggestions if needed. It was…read moreon my wish list for a while and I'm so glad we found Orlando Glassblowing Center to make it happen! We each made 1 large item and could choose from a list of options. Since we chose 3 different things to make, we got to see different processes and learn more about how you can make the glass do various things, use the tools, etc. We chose a drinking glass, a wavy bowl, and a thick bowl. Each of us was able to choose whatever color or color combo we wanted as well, so there was a lot of opportunity for customization. The staff member who worked with us was informative but also funny and kept the whole session interesting even during the times when someone else was making their item and the rest of us were just watching. He told us which items were a little more hands on so we could do more parts of the process as well. The items need to be held for a few days before pick up, but the pick up process was also simple. We truly had a great time and would love to come back.
