You don't need a reservation for nail trimming or other selection services. They open at 10 AM on Sunday's so it makes it convenient to take my dog in, he loves going to see these guys. I will ask him if he wants to go to the groomer he gets excited. They are very quick but do a good job. On Maui it is not easy finding a good groomer as i have had several over the years and they move or go out of business and I don't like taking my dogs to the big box stores. I prefer to give my money to smaller local business. Every time I go these guys are friendly and always in a cheerful mood and they take good care of my fur baby. I am definitely going to take my baby back for other services. I usually wash him but have considered taking him for a bath or a flea bath as I don't always have as much time on my hands. I highly recommend these folks because they do a good job and are not too expensive. The only thing is I wish they were closer as I live in haiku and it is a drive as they are located in Happy Valley.

My poodle mix rescue needed a full groom and I didn't have time to trek into Wailuku to my usual…read moregroomer so I called Catherine to see if she could fit him into her schedule. Easy to text and arrange. Unfortunately due to an unexpected family emergency I had to cancel and she was understanding of the situation. So, I rescheduled a few weeks later and again she was very happy to try another date and time and give me a 2nd chance. Catherine is a mobile groomer, she has a setup on the back of her truck with a grooming table, etc. She bathed our boy in our kitchen sink (we have a huge one specially for washing our dogs!) and took him out to her truck to do the fluff n scissoring. I was a bit uncertain about him being in our driveway on a busy street as he is a bolter, especially without a collar on, but Catherine kept him safe the whole time. I asked that his face was kept to a rounded puppy look with short ears and she did a really nice job. I also requested she shave his paws, the first time we have tried this, since sand and plant matter are always stuck to his fur and he chews away at his paws after every walk. He looked odd to begin with having never had poodle paws, but it is beginning to grow on me and I think it is going to make a huge difference to him. He looks like he has had a pawdicure....hahahaha. His nails are nicely trimmed and the fur perfectly shaved around each toe pad. A great job on a dog who doesn't like his feet touched! Catherine was kind and careful with my soul puppy, and he was happy to be with her, which isn't always the case with groomers in his past. If you are looking for a groomer for a dog who doesn't like the car, or going to a grooming salon, is older, younger or you are house bound this is the groomer for you. The groom was $75 which is the going rate on the island for salon groomers. I had actually expected the groom to be more expensive so I was pleasantly surprised. She took the time to ask questions- take a full history of medical problems and allergies and likes and dislikes before hand and spent the time with me which was very appreciated. She was in no rush and just did a phenomenal job! My dog looks and feels gorgeous! She didn't get shaved to the bone for no reason as the Bubble Wash people did and she returns calls quickly and is available and accommodating unlike Allison of Pawsitively Purrfect. This is the review every pet lover dreads....so tearfully here it is. Our senior Good Boi (2…read moremonths off 16yrs old) had an infection which was turning into sepsis and there was nothing we could do, apart from make sure he passed peacefully and not in the painful throws of sepsis. He wouldn't survive surgery as he was already taking meds for heart and kidney failure, and had doggy dementia and was blind. It is a heart wrenching decision but our vet Dr McCurdy (Makawao Vet Clinic) always said "a dog's last day doesn't have to be the worst day" and with that in mind I called Kehau and arranged a day for Dr Lacey Palomino to come over and help us say goodbye to our good boi at home. Kehau organised everything with me by text because....well....I couldn't speak I was weeping so much. Kehau was such a help and full of empathy, she organised everything and covered cremation and ashes so we can spread our boi's ashes on his favourite walks. Kehau and Lacey arrived on time, explained the process (which we knew as we have had dogs all our lives and unfortunately they don't live as long as we want), administered a sedative and gave us 10 mins to give our boi lots of love on our knees on the sofa, then when he was sedated they administered the final drugs in the vein via an IV, which our good boi knew nothing about. Of course we howled through the process...this was my Soul Dog, my dog of a lifetime and it hurt. However Lacey and Kehau somehow made it slightly bearable, were full of empathy and understanding and made sure we knew exactly what was happening. Lacey checked our Boi had passed and told us he was gone so we knew it was over. They gave us time alone to introduce our other dog to our Soul Boi when he had passed, so he understood he had passed. Then we carried our Boi out to Kehau's car in a blanket for his last ride. Lacey sent us a bill via Square on our phone so we didn't have to go through any distraction during the process which we appreciated. It was easy to pay online, a godsend at such a time. It is hard to say goodbye to your faithful friend, Lacey and Kehau will help you send them on their way peacefully, after enjoying their last good day with steak, ice cream and a walk at the beach and lots of cuddles and love.

Dr. Palomino was amazing with our little Chihuahua Pia! Highly recommend her and will definitely be contacting her in the future for any veterinary needs we have while on West Maui. Thank you!

Our dog Lexi has boarded with JT several times. We have total confidence in her abilities and love…read morethat she sends us cute pics and iPhone videos of Lexi while we are away. You know it is a good sign when we drive in and Lexi can't wait to get out of the car! It's a #LoveFest for sure. JT has that great balance of years of dog training experience along with being a friendly, easy going person. I guess it's easy when you know what you are doing! One other thing that is top priority for us is daily exercise. Knowing that JT has done several Ironman's, means she understands the importance of daily exercise for our dog. Our dog, BTW, is almost 13, but she still loves her twice daily walks!

Seriously Wonderful, JT is amazing and now my dogs are too! JT is lovely to work with and makes sure that all of my concerns are addressed. When my pups returned for their second visit, I was so happy to see that they greeted JT like a second Mom. To be clear, this review is limited to my observations at the dog evaluation. I can't speak to the…read moreactual boarding service. The owner met our dog and said she wouldn't take him. There is only one of her, and he has a lot of energy so this is understandable. However, her attitude and some of her training methods left me very concerned. My dog is terrified of everything. He is the type of Scooby-Doo dog who will leap in your arms if he hears a strange noise. He is also very weary of new people but has been socialized with other dogs under professional supervised settings his entire life, with no issue. Naturally when he first saw the owner he started to bark. Before I even had a chance to calm him down, she stated that he displayed "alpha" tendencies. This was within the first 30 seconds of meeting him. I attempted to explain that we have worked extensively with a trainer with a doctorate in animal psychology and that was not her assessment at all, but she ignored me, saying "he needs training." She then started talking about how he needs a bark collar. Admittedly these aren't shock collars, but between her use of the term "alpha", the discussion of a bark collar and her comment about "no treats" it suggests to me that her ideas of training are very different from mine. I prefer positive reinforcement, and tools like treats or toys the dog will enjoy, to inspire confidence and trust. Our dog did get to meet the other dogs, and aside from one time when he sharply barked once at another dog, and another time when he was starting to growl while initiating play (totally common in dogs, even Labradors) she freaked out. The owner proceeded to state blatant lies about how German Shepherds are the #1 biters (they're not, Chihuahuas are). As a person who has owned German Shepherds for over 30 years, I take great umbrage at her comments, not to mention that my current dog has no German Shepherd in him whatsoever. TLDR: If the owner didn't want to board our dog, that's fine. But to treat him like a red zone case ready to attack was not okay.

I took my two senior doggos in for bloods and a pre dental check up. Dr McCurdy was fantastic as…read moreusual and understood and was empathetic with my anxiety about my 15 yr old going under anaesthesia. The staff were all friendly and helpful and made sure my boys were comfortable. A full blood panel was taken to ensure my boys were healthy enough to go under anaesthesia, plus give us an idea how they are doing overall health wise. It was expensive for 2 dogs but worth it to make sure we aren't missing any signs of disease regardless of the dental. I drive from the west side to Makawao especially so my boys see Dr McCurdy as he is the best vet on Maui and has helped with my dogs and cat previously.
