I consider this Vet to be money motivated and does not have the best interest of your beloved pet. I have a 4lb chihuahua who I consider my life line companion. He needed his teeth cleaned desperately. Where I lived on the main land there were only 2 Vets that did dental and I was not established with either having my local vet. Moved to Maui and was family recommended to MVC. It cost me $2500.00 to have his teeth cleaned and yes they did a good job. My boy was in excellent health being we had to go through so much to bring him on island. Let's just understand I spent A LOT $$$. But he's my boy and money didn't matter. What matters is having his best interest be first and foremost. Now currently not needing any care since the cleaning, I called and asked for a calming med as New Years approaches and I was told no that he had to be seen. I consider this absolutely unacceptable !!!!! He's FOUR POUNDS !!! And he is EXTREMELY SCARED of fireworks !!! I don't think that was asking for too much . Clearly they want $$$$$ !!! DO NOT USE THIS VET!! My wife got stuck in traffic, was 11 minutes late. Their cut off is 10 minutes. She was turned away after driving for 25 minutes to get there. It was at the veterinarians instructions to refuse the visit. We already were frustrated by the overly expensive prices for small things like eye drops. There are better options available. Time for an update as it's been 3 years since my last review, and a lot has happened since. Our 3 dogs have been in and out for various reasons. Unfortunately in August 2014, our eldest Jack Russell Terrier had to be put down due to a terminal condition. Dr. Kot was away on vacation during our dog's illness, and in his place was Dr. Bass. She has a very calm demeanor and ended up being a great vet. When the horrible day came to put our dog down, we were set up for an appointment a half hour before the clinic was to open, and greeted by the wonderful Marietta who works the reception desk. She and Dr. Bass were so caring and comforting, words cannot even begin to express the compassion & warmth we felt during this awful time. This is what sets this place apart from other vet clinics we've been to on Maui. Not only was the care top notch, but the humanity factor was there 110%. I have 2 small dogs. Foxy Boy a Chihuahua and Milo a Jack Russell. A few years ago Foxy had a bad case of pancreasitis. Dr. Kot became my hero saving his life. Foxy would have surely died if not for Dr. Kot. However, recently Milo came down with Lymphoma. Milo is 12 years old, a biopsy and Chemo treatments would have been torture for both of us. Dr. Kot required $1200 to do a biopsy and said he had an opening for the surgery the very next morning. Immediately after hearing me say I did not have that kind of money he began to walk away from me. Simply left me with nothing! I left several messages for a return call to ask about options, pain, food, and how can I make sweet Milo's end of life the best. After I said "I believe Dr. Kot is not interested in talking to me because I don't have $1200 that I finally received a return call. He was horrible rude, spoke so fast and used terms only he understands that I was left even more upset. I then went to Central Maui Animal Clinic. They gave Milo a examination and medication to make her feel better. Milo lasted 6 weeks as a very happy happy girl. Milo passsed away March 11, 2023 at 1:11 p. m. A magical date and time. Central Maui assisted in making her passing less painful to both Milo and myself. Central Maui was there for Milo and me when Dr. Kot turned his back on us. read more

I miss everyone at this fantastic clinic! Yes, my bestest friend, SPARKY, passed in Oct. 2018. He was 15.5 years old. Thank goodness Dr. Kot, Lesley and Becky were there when I had to put Sparky down. The wonderful staff showed me lots of compassion. I truly appreciate Dr. Kot explaining to me clearly the euthanasia process and giving me alone time to say farewell to my bestest friend. I went to the clinic after business hours and I was not hurried. I know Dr. Kot kept Sparky alive longer than anyone expected by diagnosing his heart murmur early. Wish I could give them 6 stars! Dr Kot and all of his staff are just amazing: smart AND caring, competent AND affordable, with a clean, modern facility. But what really pulls it all together is the strong heart-centered approach. We always felt special - and I am sure we were not singled out for that. We were with Dr. Kot for about 2 years, after leaving another Maui practice that over-charged and did not seem to have anywhere near the observational or educational experience of Dr. Kot. Our Lexi Dogg died a few weeks ago, and Dr. Kot was there holding our hands as she passed, even though it happened late at night. We are so grateful for their loving service. read more

I was unfortunately quite displeased with the service and shockingly put off manner from Dr Kot while my animals were under this vet's care. One of my dogs was obviously traumatized after we got home, went straight under the couch and wouldn't come out for 2 days! When I spoke to Dr Kot about this incident he was pridefully dismissive and uncaring. I would not recommend this institution. read more

It seems that our dog "Skippah" had a major issue during the time that Dr Kot was away from the office. However, there was an extremely skilled Doctor who took his place during his absence. Her demeanor was soft yet a "command presence" that assured me everything would be fine. Her name is Dr. Bass, we will always know her as our Angel with "magic" hands. Without her quick response to "Skippah" and his disorder, we would have surely lost him. With Dr. Bass and her two assistants; Becky and Harper that helped with the operation, it was an unstoppable team that "thank you" brought his life back to us. I would highly recommend the doctor and his caring staff in or away from his office. You needn't worry about your pet, they are in the best care possible with Dr. Kot and his entire staff. We've had experiences with vets that only care about what procedures they can convince you to do. This vet doesn't operate that way. Dr. Kot and his staff at Maui Veterinary Clinc have all been absolutely wonderful through a lot of difficult vet appointments for my dog Tucker. I couldn't recommend them more highly. Dr. Kot is one of those great doctors that takes time to explain what's going on with just the right balance of medical science, quoting recent veterinary best practices and great experience too. One thing I find amazing though is that for a doctor so generous with his time and attention my appointments have always been taken on time. Further even when in the middle of one of those explanations he's interrupted by someone or something his attention and focus snaps right back to us like he never skipped a beat. Finally it's worth noting the clinic is modern comfortable and always clean. I went through a couple vets on Maui before finding Dr. Kot. It wasn't that those vets were bad, they just didn't' click with me. Again, Dr. Kot has been fabulous. read more

My family has been coming to this Vet Clinic for years. Their staff and doctors are so caring and really good not only to the animals but to their humans too. Dr. Kot and Dr. Monroe were both extremely helpful and supportive of me when i rescued a very sick kitten. They were there for phone support and Dr. Kot even had a candid conversation about his time with my new kitten....it really made me feel like she was so important and loved. Friendly and helpful staff! The office is clean. My allergies usually starts when I go to vet clinics, but not this one. They keep it clean!

Walked in today and I was shocked to see new staff. As I got to the counter, Dr Kot is helping a customer but sees us and immediately waves! Oh how that made smile! The new staff quickly located my name and account and got us what we needed. Another staff helps us find a harness with a matching leash for my Baby. I now need to learn new names but happy that the same friendly and caring energy is still there. read more

I've helped my grandma with her pets and she uses this vets office so I've gone there on different visits. The cost for pet care here is very high and Dr. Kot is an ok doctor. One thing that I really like is going to a place where I see familiar faces in the staff. There seems to be new faces there each time I go with my grandma. Doesn't look like they can keep people there. My grandma is now going to take her pets to my vet Southshore Veterinary clinic for better prices, wonderful service from staff members I know. read more

On June 5, 2011, I dropped off my dog [Hekili] at the Maui Veterinary Clinic in Wailuku. Dr. Wayne Kot diagnosed a broken Tibia. His x-rays showed only one break. Dr. Kot operated on Hekili and put 6 screws into his leg. A quoted price of $1600.00 was quoted for the operation, but at the end of the operation the invoice came to over $2300.00. On June 19, 2011 [approx.] Hekili was released to me without a brace on his leg, just a preasure bandage. On June 13, 2011 while in my back yard watching Hekili, he turned and broke his leg again. I immediately took him to Kot, but he was on the mainland for his knee surgery, but Dr. Weeks examined Hekili and stated there was no break again in the leg. I wanted an x-ray but Weeks said it was not warrented. On June 26, 2011 Kot was back and found indeed there was a second break. He put two braces on Hekili's leg and heavily bandaged Hekili's leg and said he would not charge me and also stated it would take another 6-8 weeks to heal. For several weeks I had to towel support Hekili's rear hid quarter to take him in and out of my house to relieve himself. I picked up the x-rays and took them to the only board certified vet on Maui. The Dr. said the second break happened at the same time as the first break and if more x-rays from different angles were taken the second break may have been evident. Also a brace should of been applied at the time of the first break and the second break would not have happened. Around June 28, 2011 Kot had left again for a knee operation and never authorized anyone to change the bandages on Hekili for 18 days to 2 weeks, and as a result Hekili had a temperature of 104d and a serious infection. Kot had to amputate the total pad and two toes from his rear leg due to the infection. Kot never appologized for the incompetence of his staff or himself. Again he said he would not charge me. After several months I reported Kot to the BBB and the Veterinary Board, and Kot replied by sending me a invoice for $3179.48 read more
