We are a senior couple, experienced travelers, who needed some guidance in planning a two week…read moretrip to Charleston Beaufort and Savannah in June 2026. As this was our first trip to the part of the USA we wanted to experience the South as visitors not rushed as tourists. After finding Kevin we knew we had found the right person to plan this visit based upon travel style. KEVIN EXCEEDED OUT EXPECTATIONS IN THIS REGARD. What I particularly liked was that in the planning stage Kevin provided pre-selected recommendations for Hotels, tour guides and dining. This allowed us to take the time to review his recommendations on line and select those that best fit our travel style. Although budget was not a constraint for this trip Kevin's recommendations were balanced including both private and very small group tours and fine dining plus the hidden places only a local would know for a true taste of the South. Although Kevin laid out the plan we still felt it was "our" trip because of the ability to choose among great options. Kevin plans allow for you a to customize your trip while still having the benefit of an experienced planner. Our tour guides ranged from very very good to TRULY EXCEPTIONAL. We avoided touristy places and had unique experiences that self-internet planner would unlikely ever find. One of the Kevin's strengths was sequencing the order of our tours in both Charleston and Savannah so that one experience built on the other something I could never have done on my own. Every tour guide was on time and never once did we wait to be seated in the restaurants he reserved for us. Kevin provides you with a detailed itinerary down to recommended entrée selections at the restaurants that have been reserved. I'd like to comment on Kevin in trip follow up to questions but I can't. Because of the excellence of the itinerary provided down to how early to leave for activities due to driving times, we never had any need for follow up during the two weeks of out travel. So the question boils down to due you want to have nice trip that you or an out of town travel agent planned on the internet or do you want to experience an EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOM TRAVEL EXPERIENCE. If it's the latter I can't imagine a better choice that Kevin for Charleston Beaufort and Savannah.

Our group of 3 had a main focus on the history of Charleston and Savannah and Kevin delivered. But he knew that we would also need a break and worked in tours that highlighted the charm and feel for each city including a late night stroll with him. His restaurant bookings were so helpful when you travel, finding good places to eat that have a table can be very challenging. To not have to think about where I'm going each night was a blessing. I can't recommend enough having him plan your visit to what you love to do most when you travel.

We had a honeymoon planned for February 2026 -- or at least, we thought we did. Gretchen and her…read morecompany charged us a $300 administration fee up front, which she said was required for her to guide us step-by-step through the entire planning process and be available to us during our trip. It was pitched as a fully supported, stress-free experience. All we had to do was show up. From the beginning, communication was incredibly poor. I gave her the benefit of the doubt at first due to the wildfires in California at the time, even going out of my way to check in on her and her family. I chalked up missed deadlines to the fires and tried to be understanding. But now, with our wedding quickly approaching, we realized we had NO flight details, NO itinerary, and hadn't even heard from her in months. I reached out to check in -- and she left me on read. This wasn't the first time either. I would send polite follow-up messages like: "Hi, I can see that you've read my message, so I guess you're really busy. Can we schedule a time to talk?" Only then would she respond. This cycle happened more than once. But this month was the final straw. I reached out to start looking at plane tickets -- she left me on read again. I then followed up, expressing clearly that we were no longer comfortable continuing and wanted to know what we needed to do to receive a refund. We also paid over $1k to reserve our stay at one of the quickly booked hotels, so it was important for us to get this information. She never responded. Completely ghosted us. No explanation. No apology. Just silence. We were never rude to her. We were patient and understanding. And still -- she disappeared on us and left us without a honeymoon. This has been heartbreaking, stressful, and completely unprofessional. After digging deeper, I found that we're NOT the only ones. There are many hidden negative reviews that share the same experience: * No communication * Ghosting clients * People almost missing flights * Others stranded out of the country with no help She may still have good reviews online, but don't be fooled -- the bad ones are there, and they echo exactly what happened to us. This might be a scam. Use a credit card if you do move forward so you can dispute the charges. But honestly -- don't risk it. We're going to report this company to every wedding, travel, and consumer site we can find. If you care about your honeymoon (and your money), look elsewhere.

A few years ago, when we wanted to visit Jamaica, he helped us pick the perfect resort. So when it was time we decided on a last-minute Christmas vacation due to some unexpected time off, we called Jim. I tried to do this by myself but going down the Google search rabbit hole trying to compare resorts, islands, find flights etc. was really time consuming and totally overwhelming. Every site starts to look the same after awhile. People don't think they need a travel agent, but we wanted to make sure we loved our vacation and didn't just hit purchase on a resort we sorta liked online. Jim sent us to the Unico resort in Rivera Maya. IT WAS EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED, and most important, it didn't come up on a single search I did on my own. I am so glad we reached out to him again. I didn't even know to extend by search of Cancun resorts to include other areas. The resort was perfect - we told Jim exactly what we wanted, exactly what we wanted to spend and when we wanted to go. He delivered above and beyond on all things. No detail was overlooked. If you are in the middle of planning a wedding -or just in the middle of day to day busy life - there is nothing wrong with outsourcing planning your honeymoon or vacation to someone. Do it.

During my first visit to Charleston a few years ago, I took one of their daytime carriage tours and left feeling... underwhelmed. I didn't learn all that much, the tour wasn't especially memorable, and I wrote that I'd rather have explored the city on foot. Fast forward to my most recent visit when one of my friends wanted to do the Haunted Carriage Tour. Since it was something different, I happily went along and I'm glad I did. Our horse, Ron, was a 2,000 pound French Percheron and wow.... talk about a workhorse! From what I observed, the horses seemed well cared for despite the small stable. It was fun learning a little about Ron before we set off. Our guide, Matt, was informative, engaging, and did a great job mixing Charleston history with the haunted stories. While I'm not really into ghost tours, I still learned quite a bit. In fact, my favorite takeaway wasn't haunted at all - it was learning the difference between a graveyard and a cemetery. This tour also had a digital component as we were prompted to scan the QR code to see photos of the individuals/"ghosts" he was talking about. The tour also gave us another opportunity to see Charleston from a different perspective and this time around I enjoyed riding through the historic streets by carriage. Overall, this experience was much more enjoyable than my first. The company clearly has these tours down to a science and if you're deciding between a daytime tour and the haunted evening tour, I'd surprisingly recommend the latter. I'm glad I gave Old South another chance.

This company runs ferry services with tours of Bull's Island and St. Phillips Island, which I've…read morereviewed separately. Those are great. The company also run various canoe and kayak tours, which have been a bit of a nightmare for me. The Lowcountry wetlands are fantastic and demand to be experienced close up, and many of the tour options sound great. They run quite infrequently, and even when offered, have been unreliable in my experience. To some extent, this can be attributed to weather and varying demand, which is a hassle but is part of the business. Wisely, they don't actually charge you money until you are actually at your tour doing stuff. However, I haven't forgiven them for the one time I made an online reservation at the last minute only to drive to a site at 6 AM and find the tour was canceled, with no one around to answer the phone and an active listing still on their website. They were apologetic, but didn't really do much for me. When tours are unavailable, I keep getting calls asking me to reschedule for another day, which strikes me as tone-deaf. There may be a market of people who hang around waiting for a midweek spot to open up, but I would think that many of us are tourists who aren't there for very long (I'm rarely in Charleston for more than 48 hours, and it takes a lot for me to get there at all), and even the locals I assume must have jobs. If I scheduled for X day, I probably want to do something on X day. What's also irritating is that their website, while flashy, doesn't have a calendar. You have to search through a dozen infrequently offered niche tours to see if you can find something that's available when you're available rather than just seeing what is launching on the day that you're around and free. They really don't seem to get my needs in that regard. When I finally, after frankly a year of trying, found a kayak tour that actually fit my schedule, it was beautiful weather, beautiful scenery, and some hard work. Wildlife abounds, and my trip through the Kiawah River area yielded sightings - albeit sometimes fleeting ones - of everything from a roseate spoonbill to a dolphin trapping fish against an oyster bar. The people running the tours and the equipment are good enough, and while these things aren't cheap I still leave a tip. The scenery delivers, but this tour company hasn't always met my expectations. I'm just not aware of anyone else that gives you the same chance to see this particular environment.
