ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Located deep into Terminal 6 (specifically near Gates 65-69), which they now shared with Alaska Airlines, filled with a ton of gates, plenty of reasonably-priced eateries and duty-free shops, and many monitors as you passed them along the way. There were sufficient places to sit in the terminal with plenty of natural and electric lighting. Once on the airplane, it seemed like any other, so nothing really needed to be said or seen here, but I wished I recalled the type of plane since I was nerdy like that! I liked to be unencumbered and unfettered, so the least amount of clothing, especially while I traveled through an airport, the better! Is it just me, or do airplane seats keep getting narrower? Crammed aboard a full flight on an Airbus A321neo, I found myself very cozy with my rowmates. I'm a pretty skinny guy, but even I was feeling cramped with shoulder discomfort, even before the plane took off! The flight was otherwise okay. There was complimentary breakfast with a sausage-egg sandwich and a drink of choice (including Mai Tais). The flight attendants also made the rounds a few times offering water, and once more to give us a cookie! Each seat had a USB port for power, and there was free Starlink WiFi courtesy of T-Mobile. The WiFi was blazing fast because unlike traditional providers, Starlink uses satellites in low Earth orbit and lasers to communicate between them. The future is now. Solid 3.5 star experience, dampened by seating conditions, and rounded up only because of the great service and because having reliable Internet made the flight much more tolerable! read more

I've been flying on Hawaiian for 50+ years but this was my first since the merger with Alaska. My trip to LA on July 11 didn't start out smoothly. I had a 7:40am flight (HA 10) but there were two aircraft changes (A330 to 787 to A330) due to mechanical issues so we didn't leave Honolulu until 11am. Service aboard was fine. The executive chefs are now Wade and Michelle from MW Restaurant, so I was anticipating something special. There were two entrees offered for lunch, an eggplant dish and meatloaf. I chose the latter which reminded me of a Swanson TV dinner. The salad was excellent, so I was satisfied, even with a less than appealing entrée. The person sitting next to me in 1A offered a taste of her eggplant. Whoa, I should have ordered that! Dessert was an ube / cream cheese(?) cake ... I didn't partake as I'm not a fan of ube and I try not to eat desserts. On July 14, I flew home on a 787 Dreamliner, so I got to check out the new first-class "capsule". Breakfast service provided a choice of mushroom / cheese omelet or a continental breakfast (fresh fruits, yogurt and granola). I opted for the omelet ... It was light and fluffy but I couldn't taste any mushrooms. It came with sliced potatoes, pork sausage and a grilled tomato wedge. Accompanying the omelet was a dish of fresh fruit and your choice of pastries. I chose a croissant ... It was warm! Service from the flight crew was personable and responsive ... Thanks! First class seating in the 787 is so much better than the A330. I'll be sad to see the 787s transition to Alaska Airlines. However, Hawaiian has yet to enable WiFi on the 787 and the entertainment options were so limited to be almost unusable. Are two albums sufficient in the classical music category? Not for me. Furthermore, the crew had to reboot the entertainment system several times to correct a problem in the rear of the plane. I booked flights to/from Seattle in 2 weeks and to/from Las Vegas a month later ... all on Hawaiian. I hope my experiences are better than it was on this trip. read more

Since the merger with Alaska, it has been real nightmare for Hawaiian. Late or delayed flights even cancellation becoming the norm. Now, the latest headache is terminal/gate. We were shuttle transported to temporary tarmac building. The shuttle is not children or handicap friendly. Most stand up only. 15 to 20 mins ride. Jammed pack with people shoulder to shoulder. First Class passengers beware. I do not recommend flying out of LAX on Hawaiian. It looks like the terminal is under construction for 2 years. We are 35 years frequent flyer. Oh man. Make time for you to get to your gate because it is very far from security check point, about 20-25 minute walk. They do have courtesy carts for you. I am Delta loyal, but it's nice to try flying with other airlines once in a while. My flight was very enjoyable and it's a great start to a tropical paradise. They say Aloha and Mahalo and some have hibiscus or plumeria flowers in their hair. Already setting the tone for the vacation. For a small meal/big snack they gave a turkey egg croissant sandwich and a can of juice (if that's what you want) which was tasty and filling. Right before landing they give a Honolulu cookie. This was our first time flying Hawaiian Airlines. There were definitely pros and cons. Pros: The initial cost for the tickets were reasonable. The mobile app made checking in a breeze. Boarding passes were easily loaded onto my digital wallet. They actually give you a meal--and it's pretty good. They offer a wide range of snacks and products for sale and the prices are decent for an airline. The seats are comfortable, and we had an exceptional amount of leg room for our flight to Lihue. Free WiFi for internet, texting, apps, etc and a separate free WiFi for watching the entertainment they offer. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. Cons: there were no tv screens, so you were limited to the screen you brought with you--I believe this is why the WiFi was free, so we really appreciated that. From my experience, we had to pay extra for our seats if we wanted to sit together. So the reason why we had that great leg room on the flight to Lihue was because I paid for it, and it wasn't cheap. On the flight home, upon checkin, we were each seated in separate rows. Their own system couldn't get us any closer, for free? So I had to buy seats again and could only get 2 together, but all 3 in the same row. Upon boarding the plane, I asked the person seated in between my kids if they'd switch with me and thankfully, they were willing. This is the absolute worst airline to fly from LAX. They only staff the check in area 1.5 hrs before flights so you have to wait in long lines. Long walk to gates. Purchases flights LAX to Kauai via HLN. They refused to check our bags through, so had to exit the airport to retrieve our checked bags and recheck them for the next Hawaiian airlines flight to Kauai. Hospitality is better than expected on this airline . Lunch was extra garlicky on every course so i carried my own lunch aboard , however the air circulation is top notch . not once did i detect any garlic in the plane , even my seat mate was courteous and had the vegan meal. We have a dedicated LA to KOA crew who does the same flight 24/7 so extremely experienced. Hawaiian hospitality like no other airline . We had same crew as last year , i have facial recognition like AI and i noticed /remembered our flight crew in the airport when i saw them . The first class crew is like no other airline and i highly recommend FC or extra comfort as you basically have your own suite in Extra comfort on the A330. My seat which was FC3 a good seat but only if the people in extra comfort keep their blind closed , otherwise you can't sleep because their blind hits you right in the face while sleeping . While the lay flat seats are nice , the seats don't have head wings so if you have neck issues bring your own neck pillow . i left mine at home home intending to fold the complimentary into a roll but no dice . it's just a pad of fluff . read more

This airline has our family of 5 seats so jacked up!! The service while on their jets is great but their bidding process to upgrade has our entire families situation totally upside down. Their Manilla team actually accused us of screwing things up saying our daughter upgraded her own seat. Our daughter has no idea on how any of this works nor could she login to our account even if she did. Now they have us all sitting separately around the plane without even consulting us!! Excluding the long walk to the gates from the check-I'm counter, TSA pre check was a breeze and the walk was, well, a walk ‍. Boarding was right on time at 10:45am (departure time 11:30am) and went smoothly. Gate staff were friendly and got things going, I can appreciate that. Flight was smooth but for some reason my Hawaiian Airlines App wasn't working so I couldn't browse the inflight entertainment. I'll have to delete it and reinstall before the trip home. Note: Allow 1-2 hours before your flight, since you still have to go through security & bag check point. We were some of the last ones to board. It was very stressful getting here. As soon as we boarded the plane, the kind Hawaiian Airlines Ladies quickly helped us locate our seats & directed us on where to stow our luggage. It definitely set the mood with Hawaiian music playing with the all the Flight Attendants wearing Hawaiian Shirts & the Ladies wearing a Lei in their hair. I flew first class with Hawaiian Airlines from Honolulu to LAX. Upon arrival, my nearly new aluminum Samsonite case was severely damaged, with a wheel smashed off. I got conflicting instructions--first told to buy a replacement for reimbursement, then asked for repeated proof despite the airport's own documentation. U.S. law requires airlines to cover such damage, and this runaround was unacceptable. Despite promises of a temporary case or resolution, nothing has happened. I will replace it myself, and if not reimbursed, I'll pursue further action. This experience has been disappointing, and I cannot recommend Hawaiian Airlines. read more

When you speak of the Aloha Spirit of Hawai'i, Hawaiian Airlines exemplifies just that. On today's flight, the Flight Attendants were above welcoming and gave such a great feeling of ALOHA! They are one of the few airlines that serve a hot meal. We were tended to quite often and the Flight Attendants made sure that we had enough to drink and that our meals were served right away. We enjoyed our flight home andand was able to relax. I've never really had a bad experience on Hawaiian Airlines whether in the main cabin or in first class. Although there have been many delays lately, some of which are out of their control such as weather, the Flight Crew had taken care of their passengers. I live flying on Hawaiian Airlines and its usually my first choice for travel. read more

8/31/25 7:00a HA 1 - An HA employee at the kiosk at approx. 4:45a helped to place the tags on my bags and directed me where to go to check in my luggage. The HA staff, Security personnel, and TSA staff were courteous and although there was a line, it moved rather quickly. The walk from Terminal 6 to Gate 68B was not as long as when I walked to my gate from the previous terminal last year. Timely announcements made regarding boarding. Flight attendants were courteous and welcomed me aboard, directing me which aisle to take when I gave my seat number. Hawaiian Airlines is always my first choice when flying to and from Honolulu. A warm sandwich; the option of a rum beverage; a cookie or chocolate-covered macadamia nut at the end of the flight (miss the Hawaiian chips); and most importantly, the aloha spirit and positive attitude by the crew and staff. We were almost 30 minutes early when we landed. The pilot impressively spoke a few sentences in Hawaiian. There was minimal turbulence and a smooth landing. A pleasant flight that makes me appreciate coming back to Hawaii even more. read more

My Son applied for the credit card and it stated 2 free luggage, but when we got to the airport we had to pay 80.00 for our luggage. My son called Hawaiian Airlines to get a credit, but the representative was no help to correct this, she said to call Barclays credit holder and the representative was very unhelpful, she didn't want to listen to his side of this. He will cancel this card once it's paid off. read more

This review is based on my experience onboard Hawaiian air newest 787 aircraft and the Leihoku suites. The experience starts with priority boarding group 1 and arrival into the first class cabin where there are plenty of storage bins for your carry on. Once settled into your seat, the attendants offer you a drink of water, juice or mai tai. The seating itself is a large cocoon enclosure with a door that can be shut after take off. There is plenty of legroom for when the seat lays back flat for it's sleeping position. Entertainment is provided via a huge display screen with headphone set. They have a meal service and the menu varies depending on the time of flight ex; breakfast, lunch or dinner. Service starts after takeoff with drinks of choice along with macadamia nuts. The meal then is served and desert follows. There are two choices of menu which usually includes a vegetarian option. The only letdown for me is that the existing A330 fleet has wifi but they still need to add this to the 787 fleet. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! 3/4 mile walk down 4 levels and under the runway gets you to the NEW Terminal B after a 30 + minute walk. Elevators and Escalators are broken and not working so upon arrival you also get to haul your carry on luggage down FOUR FLIGHTS of stairs!!!! 10/22/22 Aloha! Hawaiian Airlines, our preferred way to fly to Kaua'i. It does make a difference in the way it makes you feel. We've flown Delta, American Airlines, United and so far Hawaiian is the better airlines for comfort & hospitality. Alaska comes second. My husband has back problems & if he could always book our flights in first class he would. Unfortunately there weren't any available first class seats when he booked. Next best thing is extra leg room. It's only a 5 hr flight but I get restless & antsy so the extra leg room really helps a lot. Hubby was in pain even with extra leg room. I understand the need for first class for him, I felt bad that he's suffering. When hubby booked our return flight to the mainland, there weren't any available direct flights & there's a 3 hr stopover in Honolulu. By sheer luck, his name was called overhead & he was asked by the airlines if we wanted a later flight w/ no stopover. He jumped at the chance & PLUS, since he asked, we were let in to the Premier Club to wait. Ah yes, more comfortable & cooler there. For me as long as we still have the extra leg room, I'm all set. Many years ago, again, once in a while, by sheer luck, first class upgrade for $50-100 each is a blessing. I should've Yelped this AL when we flew first class. Mahalo! read more
