Loved going to Hawaiian bros when they first opened but unfortunately throughout the years the price has gone up, but the portions have gone down. For 11$ I'm provided with a meal that seems oddly very small for a fast food restaurant. If this was a regular restaurant I think this portion size would pass for like an appetizer or maybe a meal but for a fast food place charging 11$ for a small bowl.. I don't know. I asked 5 peers to tell me what the cost of this meal provided would be and they all said 5-7$.. I miss when the price used to be cheaper and the portions used to match the prices. I've stopped coming to Hawaiian bros for this exact reason. However I will say the staff are nice and the space is always clean!!

You know, I'd like to be painfully honest with these guys because they're selling rice and chicken. Okay. Let's be honest with ourselves: they spent 42 cents on this whole plate. The macaroni salad is probably not cheap, but let's be honest probably is. And they charge a lot, let's be honest like I said. But, I'll be honest, it hits the spot. When it's done right, the chicken teriyaki'd up is wonderful with some white rice and some macaroni with goop on it. I don't know what it is, but it's delicious and fulfilling. It could be a better value but, you can tell it's very clean and they took great care in it. I would be careful though of ordering some of the meals, I think the ginger chicken burned the last time we were there, and left the sauce darker than you would like. Had kind of a burned putrid flavor, so I would recommend the Molokai all day. Excellent plate. The aesthetic is beautiful in there by the way, and the staff clearly aren't screwing around and mean to do business in the chicken and rice world. You can trust these people, they got your best interest at heart and they make a fine product. Thank you Hawaiian Bros. Try taking it a little easy on the sugary sauces and the temp; I'd rather it be slightly underdone than burned. Those chicken thighs though, boy... They do me right.

The most stand out part of this restaurant was the service! Not sure if the man working was the owner but he put in so much energy and care. He was taking orders, delivering the food to the table, handling take out orders, checking on people, etc. a one man show! For the food, we ordered the Huli Huli chicken and it was great. The macaroni salad was okay but the chicken and rice were delicious! I liked the dipping sauce too.

I was impressed with my opening week dine-in lunch experience at this new location. The service was first rate and the food was very good. My classic size huli huli (teriyaki) chicken plate lunch ($9.45) was ready just two minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was cheerful and helpful. Two self service order kiosks were also available. My meal had a generous amount of tasty chicken on a bed of rice with macaroni salad and seasoned veggies (which I substituted for the standard side of rice). I liked the nice, new, clean and themed dining area with plenty of natural light. This location was nicely managed, with a satisfaction check-in from staff and attention to dining room cleanliness. I only wish the seasoned veggies had more seasoning and there was background music in the dining area. This location has a drive-thru and a nice patio. Overall, very nice.

I love Hawaiian Bros and have been to 3 of their locations. I come to this location mainly for lunch. They are always very quick and I have never had a long wait at this drive thru. The staff inside and at the drive through are always very helpful and have great customer service. I love the self service kiosks inside (but if you want to avoid the kiosks, staff is there to assist as well!) I tend to get the Huli Huli chicken pretty much every time I go. The small is plenty for a quick and filling lunch. I like to get the rice and macaroni but you can sub out for steamed veggies as well (I find that the veggies are a bit soggy and not my favorite here). I also recommend getting a dole whip - the pineapple is my favorite!

    Anne A.

I absolutely love all of the locations of Hawaiian bros! This location has a lot of competition with other food establishments, but this is still my go to for food! The Dole whips are non dairy and non gluten, and are one of the most light and refreshing desserts I have ever had! If you haven't had these before, save some room for a fresh dessert, you won't regret it! Also, the leftovers from the meal, always reheat super well! Indoor and outdoor dining available! The staff on 08/04/22 were outstanding! They looked like they were helping each other out and got food out very quickly with great quality! The only comment about our last visit that wasn't 100% was when we ordered the large plate, we got less chicken than we normally get here. But there was mac salad that makes up for it!

It seems that Hawaiian Bros restaurants are popping up all over JOCO, and I'm not upset about it! I am not a chicken, pork, or Spam fan, so I stick with the rice and vegetables. They're very flavorful, especially with a little bit of extra teriyaki sauce. I really wish they still sold the sauce in bottles, but, at least at this location, they don't. They do have some really cute t shirts showing some KC love for only $8! With easy ordering via kiosk the service is really fast, the restaurant is very clean, and the food is delicious. I do wish they offered a vegetarian protein but that's not the fault of this individual location. Maybe one day! For now, I'll stick with the rice and veggies and leave the Spam for everyone else.

I typically go to stores we do not have, so after stops at TJ's, Sprouts, and Costco, I had not eaten a thing since the morning and was starving, I ordered a pick-up poke bowl at 3:30 PM because it was not far from Costco, and was pleased to see yellowtail as a protein option! I was really impressed with all of the possibilities, including the green tea-coconut rice as a base, and included mix-ins/toppings such as seaweed salad, masago, and tamagoyaki without any extra cost! Longboards has been part of my story since my UMKC days. I first went after hearing all the hype,…read moreand as they've expanded, I've followed them from location to location. When they finally opened in Overland Park, I was ecstatic -- it felt like my old college staple had grown up with me. One side note that says it all: during KU Hospital orientation, HR did that classic icebreaker -- "What's your favorite restaurant?" Someone mentioned Longboards, and instantly a chorus of people chimed in with "Yeah!" That kind of reaction tells you everything -- Longboards isn't just food, it's a Kansas City cult favorite. Menu-wise, they do things differently. Think grilled burrito-style wraps or deli-style cold wraps, but you can make any of them into an "OG" (their giant version with a hard-boiled egg inside) or turn them into a rice bowl. That's what makes it fun -- the creativity of the flavors plus the flexibility to make it your own. My forever go-to is the Argentine quesadilla flat wrap -- steak, shrimp, guac, mozzarella, pico, and chimichurri ranch. It's basically surf-and-turf at a reasonable price, and the flavors just explode. Easily a 10/5. I usually grab a second item too. This time it was the WOW Kung Pao wrap -- chicken, peanuts, veggies, rice, spicy Chinese sauce. Think kung pao stir-fry, but wrapped up. Perfect balance of heat and crunch, a solid 4/5. Over the years , I've also loved the 5 Alarm Beef (spicy, but worth it). The the Cabo chicken/steak (crowd favorites), and the 619 OG (go big or go home) are prety solid too. And don't sleep on their rotating monthly creations -- some of the most fun menu items they've done. My favorite was One Time in Bangkok -- as spicy and naughty as it sounds. Basically a pad thai wrap loaded with Thai Peanut, Spicy Chinese, and 5 Alarm sauce. Absolutely amazing, and another 10/5. Honestly wish they'd make it a permanent menu item. The sauces are what really set Longboards apart. They bottle a few (Thai Peanut, 5 Alarm, Chipotle Ranch, Teriyaki), and I wish they'd sell their Spicy Chinese sauce too -- it's that good. Same with the chimichurri ranch on the Argentine -- I could honestly bathe in both of them. Pro tip: grab a bottle of Thai Peanut sauce and use it at home to instantly level-up Trader Joe's bowls. Sometimes the bottles are half off during happy hour times. I've tried their noodle bowls and rice bowls -- tasty, but rice noodles aren't my thing. And the Hawaiian sliders? Hard pass. Stick to the wraps, flat wraps, or OG-style burritos and you can't go wrong. The staff is always friendly, the food is consistent -- super quick, super fresh, always hot. Seating is limited (this location is mainly carry-out), but I love the surf-inspired vibe with the surfboard-shaped countertop. What makes Longboards stand out most is the value. They've managed to keep prices fair while maintaining high quality -- even post-COVID, when so many places either dropped standards or raised prices. That combination of affordability, creativity, flexibility, and consistency is rare. Longboards is a KC institution for a reason. Five stars every time.
