The Food - I don't know how they take these simple ingredients and make them so fantastic each time. I believe that due to their business model of only having a few dishes and sides and doing them really well, instead of having a lot of options, is the secret. I know that some of the sides are a bit controversial, but I happen to like them all. I do tend to typically trade the Rice Ball for Steamed Veggies when I can. That was not allowed on this visit. - 5 stars The Atmosphere - Many of these are that modern, somewhat industrial, style that is all the rage. It is functional enough but not exactly comfortable. Nor does this style hold any real personality and you can tell that like so many other commercial places these are designed to hold ANY restaurant should they change hands or locations. Gone are the days where you could recognize the restaurant by its roof or design. Now the only thing to leave the impression is the Logo. Not taking points off for this... just wandering down the lost memory lane of Hut Rooflines and Bells in a façade. - 4 stars The Staff - This staff was incredibly busy and did a great job balancing all that they had going on. Everyone I interacted with was extremely polite and willing to help in any way possible. - 4 stars The rest of the story - So in Kansas City someone decided that if the KC Royals scored 6 or more runs in a game (including ones lost) any Hawaiian Bros Rewards Members could go in and get a free Classic meal. You could order the protein that you wanted in the meal but they were not allowing any other changes as they were just too busy. So, when I went in on a Sunday afternoon the place was packed. The staff was so busy that they were scrambling to do the other tasks, like fill the napkins/straws, or empty the lobby trash. I watched the staff of 5 be continuously slammed with orders and stay at a dead run the entire time I was in the building. I placed my order and attempted to stay out of the way. I had a 25 minute wait but this was only due to the amount of internal and drive thru orders that they were keeping up with. And I must say I was impressed. At the time of writing them Hawaiian Bros has rescinded this specific program and instead now has a reward of BOGO after the KC Royals score 6 runs or more. Let's just say I wouldn't want to be the exec that had to roll that one back! read more

Pretty underwhelming. No frills, self service. Just kiosks to place your order. Was here 3 hours before closing. Only one in the dining room and there isn't a clean table. Music is stupidly loud. The Kilauea chicken is tasty but the luau pig was super salty. And Mac salad not at all authentic - odd spice flavor, maybe caraway? First and last time here I think. read more

Loved going to Hawaiian bros when they first opened but unfortunately throughout the years the price has gone up, but the portions have gone down. For 11$ I'm provided with a meal that seems oddly very small for a fast food restaurant. If this was a regular restaurant I think this portion size would pass for like an appetizer or maybe a meal but for a fast food place charging 11$ for a small bowl.. I don't know. I asked 5 peers to tell me what the cost of this meal provided would be and they all said 5-7$.. I miss when the price used to be cheaper and the portions used to match the prices. I've stopped coming to Hawaiian bros for this exact reason. However I will say the staff are nice and the space is always clean!! read more

You know, I'd like to be painfully honest with these guys because they're selling rice and chicken. Okay. Let's be honest with ourselves: they spent 42 cents on this whole plate. The macaroni salad is probably not cheap, but let's be honest probably is. And they charge a lot, let's be honest like I said. But, I'll be honest, it hits the spot. When it's done right, the chicken teriyaki'd up is wonderful with some white rice and some macaroni with goop on it. I don't know what it is, but it's delicious and fulfilling. It could be a better value but, you can tell it's very clean and they took great care in it. I would be careful though of ordering some of the meals, I think the ginger chicken burned the last time we were there, and left the sauce darker than you would like. Had kind of a burned putrid flavor, so I would recommend the Molokai all day. Excellent plate. The aesthetic is beautiful in there by the way, and the staff clearly aren't screwing around and mean to do business in the chicken and rice world. You can trust these people, they got your best interest at heart and they make a fine product. Thank you Hawaiian Bros. Wow this was a good spot, I've been 2 times and have tried the huli huli chicken and Honolulu chicken, both were excellent. The chicken is a heavily infused teriyaki style and is super moist. It comes with white rice and macaroni salad as sides. I really don't think that you can go wrong here. read more

Traveled to KC this weekend and decided to try Hawaiian Bros for the first time, seeing as they don't have this chain back home where I live. Ordered online, arrived, and the building was completely locked and closed. Went to knock on the door, no answer. Called the restaurant and was answered by an incredibly rude gentleman who told us to use the drive thru and hung up before I could even say a word after. There was absolutely no signage indicating that they had a drive thru because drive thru sign was COMPLETELY OFF. The rude individual from the phone greeted us at the window, still rude as ever, and denying that he ever hung up. Based on the interactions I had with the individual working the window and the phone the evening, I will not be back, nor will I be back to any Hawaiian Bros location. If that is the attitude and behavior the company finds acceptable, this business has no chance. read more

I was impressed with my opening week dine-in lunch experience at this new location. The service was first rate and the food was very good. My classic size huli huli (teriyaki) chicken plate lunch ($9.45) was ready just two minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was cheerful and helpful. Two self service order kiosks were also available. My meal had a generous amount of tasty chicken on a bed of rice with macaroni salad and seasoned veggies (which I substituted for the standard side of rice). I liked the nice, new, clean and themed dining area with plenty of natural light. This location was nicely managed, with a satisfaction check-in from staff and attention to dining room cleanliness. I only wish the seasoned veggies had more seasoning and there was background music in the dining area. This location has a drive-thru and a nice patio. Overall, very nice. read more

I love Hawaiian Bros and have been to 3 of their locations. I come to this location mainly for lunch. They are always very quick and I have never had a long wait at this drive thru. The staff inside and at the drive through are always very helpful and have great customer service. I love the self service kiosks inside (but if you want to avoid the kiosks, staff is there to assist as well!) I tend to get the Huli Huli chicken pretty much every time I go. The small is plenty for a quick and filling lunch. I like to get the rice and macaroni but you can sub out for steamed veggies as well (I find that the veggies are a bit soggy and not my favorite here). I also recommend getting a dole whip - the pineapple is my favorite! read more

I absolutely love all of the locations of Hawaiian bros! This location has a lot of competition with other food establishments, but this is still my go to for food! The Dole whips are non dairy and non gluten, and are one of the most light and refreshing desserts I have ever had! If you haven't had these before, save some room for a fresh dessert, you won't regret it! Also, the leftovers from the meal, always reheat super well! Indoor and outdoor dining available! The staff on 08/04/22 were outstanding! They looked like they were helping each other out and got food out very quickly with great quality! The only comment about our last visit that wasn't 100% was when we ordered the large plate, we got less chicken than we normally get here. But there was mac salad that makes up for it! read more

We ordered Huli Huli chicken, Honolulu chicken, spam musubi, luau pork, Dole soft serve and mixed vegetables. Good flavor on the huli huli chicken. The Honolulu chicken was too salty. First time ordering food from there. Macaroni salad is not Hawaiian in flavor. The dressing was too runny. The musubi was falling apart and too skinny. They must not have used a musubi mold. The seaweed sheet was not big enough to hold the rice and spam together. There are better Hawaiian food where I live. Oh, and they forgot my Sriracha packets. I know, I should have checked the bag. The bright spot was the Dole soft serve. Tastes exactly like what they serve in Disneyland and Dole Plantation in Hawaii. And at $3.75, it was so worth it. It seems that Hawaiian Bros restaurants are popping up all over JOCO, and I'm not upset about it! I am not a chicken, pork, or Spam fan, so I stick with the rice and vegetables. They're very flavorful, especially with a little bit of extra teriyaki sauce. I really wish they still sold the sauce in bottles, but, at least at this location, they don't. They do have some really cute t shirts showing some KC love for only $8! With easy ordering via kiosk the service is really fast, the restaurant is very clean, and the food is delicious. I do wish they offered a vegetarian protein but that's not the fault of this individual location. Maybe one day! This is our favorite Hawaiian bros location. Stopped by here after the gym. The staff is always so sweet with a smile on their face and warm welcome when we come in. One of the meats we ordered was going to take 10-15 minutes to make and a sweet girl came out and let us know then gave us pineapple soft serve while we waited. It was so kind and thoughtful. They had the food out quickly after. Can't recommend this location enough and the wonderful staff they have. read more

Absolutely amazing, went through the drive through because I had my dog with me, and I still can't get over how fast I got through the line. I was a little hesitant because of how quickly the food came out that I assumed it was going to be dry and cold, but boy was I wrong. I got a large and now have enough food for the next two days! The Malokai chicken is beyond amazing, if I knew how to cook chicken like that home, I would weigh about 75 more pounds than I do now. I got two mixed plates one large one classic with extra Mac instead of rice which they actually got right this time. No rice on the bottom of meat like their normally is. Yummy! We had never eaten. At a Hawaiian Bros and were happy that we stopped. The Honolulu chicken was awesome! Very tasty with green onions, garlic and a teriyaki sauce. We are every morsel. Chrissy was super nice and guided us through the menu. She told us we could sub veggies for rice for a nominal $1 up charge. The macaroni salad was good too, my husband who normally does not eAt macaroni salads are every bit of his half. I was really excited for this new location to open and it just did a few days ago before the time of this review. The food was delicious as always and the 4 stars should reflect that. I took 1 star off due to slight order mess up. My girlfriend ordered a classic size and I got a large and the two sizes were not any different. If anything, she actually had more meat than me, which is slightly disappointing and left me wanting more, with the large being about $4 more. I remember when we've visited other locations, they would really load up the large sizes, so I hope they do this going forward. read more
