There is almost always a line to order and if you're wanting to hangout and eat there it can be sometimes be difficult to find a seat, but it is completely worth. Ibis Bakery are chemistry maestros. Technically sound, bread baking extraordinaires like Walter White (Breaking Bread?). I haven't met too many baked goods that I didn't enjoy, but it's safe for me to say that Ibis Bakery is the top spot in town. I've tried: -Their pizzas when they used to do a special pizza night, five-stars. -Their cheese slippers, in my opinion, are one of the best things you can find in all of KC. (Note these are seasonal, usually one day a week and I don't know if they're currently doing this during Covid-19) - All the croissants and breads, five-stars. -Orange brioche from their stand at the OP Farmers' Market, perfect for French Toast They just nail everything, and you can tell the quality from the first bite. I do wish there was a consistent way to get some of the things I mentioned.. It's always a bit of a scavenger hunt to try to find out when they're offering things like pizzas and cheese slippers, so that would be my one bit of unsolicited advice to them. The bakery downtown is so busy and difficult to get parking. But the one on 87th is really much easier to go to and park This is also very busy - which says something!! I love their breads. So good! Cranberry walnut and multigrain are both excellent choices. It's a bit on the expensive side but good things don't come cheap. Ibis bakery products are absolutely great, however Messenger Coffee at the airport is doing a great disservice to this great bread. I go through KC airport several times a year and on two separate trips I picked up a coffee and an almond croissant. In both instances the croissant was at minimum a day old. The croissants were definitely old, the crusts were stale and hard (not crunchy hard), the filling soaked the middle portion of the croissant. Their cinnamon rolls are the best, however, they all come with thick layers of Sweet glace and does not have one available for those who only want the cinnamon rolls without the sweet stuff. This bakery is connected to Blackdog (my most favorite coffee shop in the whole entire world). Large windows, white walls, white/light wood furniture gives the place an iridescent summery glow. Croissants are always a go to for me - they had some cut into bite sized pieces for sampling on the counter. It was light, buttery, and flaky. Perfection!! I decided to try their Pecan croissant which was drizzled with glaze and filled with a pecan praline filling. The croissant itself was delicious as described above, the pecans sprinkled on top gave the pastry a nice added texture to it. However, the added praline filling made the pastry a bit too sweet for me. I ordered their citrus almond tea cake again. Light, lemony, awakening. It is the definition of perfection. One of my most favorite pastries here is the Blueberry financier. I can't get enough of this heavenly goodness. Packed with blueberries; the pastry gives you a revitalizing punch in each bite, yet the buttery goodness of the cake always takes you back home to a comforting place. read more

Amazing pizza night on Tuesdays!! They offered 2 different pizzas for $13 each and they were both excellent. They open at 6:00 (we got in line at 5:30) and they will come by to take your order for wine or beer while you wait in line. Everything has a locally sourced, good for you vibe and the people are exceptionally nice. We treated ourselves to ice cream sandwiches for dessert and I would say they are fantastic!! They don't advertise it much put this bakery sells fresh pizza on Tuesday nights from 6 until they are sold out. We arrived at 630 and the line was long down the sidewalk. We got to the front of the line qt 645 and we're informed the previous customer took the last pizza. It looked very good at others tables so we will be back in a couple of weeks...at 600. I first discovered Ibis at their booth at the Overland Park Farmers Market. We got a morning bun and ham and gruyere croissant. The bun had caramelization and the croissant was delightfully flaky, cheesy, and had an interesting lift from sesame seeds. In subsequent weeks I returned to try their white chocolate and coconut toast as well as their cheese slippers, especially the ones with gorgonzola (YESSSS! Thank you for reworking this amazing item of bread of cheese from Fervere Bakery). I usually also walked away with a cup of iced toddy au lait with an *extra* splash of Shatto chocolate milk. The workers at the booth are also soooo nice and pleasant to talk with. I look forward to going to the Overland Park Farmers Market mostly for my 3-5 minute stop at the Ibis booth. Now, again, this review is only for their booth at the Overland Park Farmers Market. I'm actually not as happy with my visits to Black Dog Coffeehouse, which makes the coffee and serves their breads and pastries, and I haven't visited their storefront. I recently moved to Lenexa and a friend recommended Black Dog coffee shop which is next door to the new bakeries location. They were selling the bakeries breads before the new location opened, which was TODAY! I Had to have a loaf of bread to go with my chicken noodle soup since the loaf I bought last week to go with the vegetable soup was so outstanding! Luckily today I was fortunate enough to meet the owners and bakers and try samples of their many fine delectable goods. Today I bought the Cranberry Walnut loaf and the Country Hearth. We tried the most amazing sweet potatoe with sage scones! A must for Thanksgiving ! Many people have known about this bakery since they have been at the local farmers markets. Love the simplicity of this place and quality is top notch. We have had the pastries from Ibis while at Black Dog and they are amazing especially if you get there when they bring fresh from the oven items over. Prices are pretty reasonable if not low in my opinion for the quality of food. I believe you can only buy their fresh loaves Wed-Sun so plan accordingly. We just experienced their Tuesday Pizza night. You do have to wait in line then the open the doors and you place your food and drink order then they give you a number and your beverages and you can sit there, in Black Dog or outside. They only offer two pizzas, one red and one white so they have them prepped and pulling out of ovens when they open the doors. That way the first huge chunk of people get served pretty quickly. We waiting about 15 minutes but I liked that so I could enjoy my wine and date. The do fun local beers and wine for $6 or Mexican coke for $2. Then they offer a few desserts, price ranges on these. Pizza was $13 and it stuffed the two of us. No leftovers but didn't leave hungry. We had the country ham, corn and collard greens on white sauce. Sounds a little scary but it was amazing. The crust was crisp and chewy. The ham was amazing and corn on pizza, great idea. They use all local gardens. The desserts were Bettie Rae's ice cream with Ibis snickerdoodle cookies or Palmiers. Wish I would have had room. Service is remarkable, so friendly and fast. We will for sure do this again. read more

Wow! One of the best bakeries I've tried in Johnson County. I came around 9 on a Saturday morning and there was a long line- for good reason. The almond croissant was decadent and perfect. We visited this place, traveling through from Texas to Wisconsin, three weeks ago and I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT! The bread and pastries here rival those in Europe. So incredibly good. I am sensitive to gluten, and I don't have much of a problem here because everything is sprouted. I love the ham/gruyere croissant, and so really like the espresso rocher cookie and the Linzer jam cookie. read more
