He made it clear he had places to be, so I headed to corporate to file a complaint which was only met with the same behavior and a manager who mid conversation with me pulls out an earphone and tells whom ever she was talking to that she had to go because she had someone in her office. DO NOT go to Hawkins psychiatry, where do I even begin??? I'll start off by saying the office told me I would be getting counseling 1. the first appointment they set me up with was with a male which I specifically advised against but kind of let slide due to the fact they had to kind of squeeze me into their schedule for me to get in the system. 2. The male counselor then made me strictly and ONLY talk about things from YEARS AGO, I mean almost a DECADE ago and I wasn't able to talk about ANYTHING that was actually making me suicidal and depressed in the PRESENT . 3.They then switched me to a female talking me up about how "good" she was and how she had be doing this for a long time, so I wait a week and go to that appointment even more mentally in shambles than before and she fucking asks me some questions like if I wanna die and tells me that the previous guy (the male they gave me) gave me the ALLERGY version of my anxiety meds instead of the anxiety version.. 4. She then spends the rest of the time talking about a brain view scan and TMS (some magnetic brain therapy shit for depression) , tells me to go outside to the receptionist and meets me there to schedule the fucking appointment and then they tell me they'll see me next Thursday. 5.This was all in a matter of 30 MINUTES AND I DID NOT GET AN OUNCE OF COUNSELING, I left more suicidal and was on several hotlines from 11pm to 6am in the morning breaking down and don't want anyone to go through what I went through. 6.I then called to schedule a therapy appointment since my mom told me to which they told me is $150 so we have to switch providers, they've take money and waste your time . My doctor quite seeing me 2 days before my appointment. I was forced to see a nurse practitioner who did not listen to a word I said. If I tell you that i have been prescribed to a medicine in the past and it did not work, then dont prescribe me tge exact same thing. This a terrible practice and I would avoid it at all costs. My longtime psychiatrist switched this practice and it is horrible. The no show fees are 170 and i was falsely billed an additional 35 for a drug test I already paid for. I once canceled an appointment 24 hours ahead of time and had to leave a message. Of course they checked it late and tried to bill me and I let them know what happened and they did make it right. The other no show, to be fair, was my fault. Three days before that my brother was diagnosed with lymphoma and I with alopecia. They try to squeeze money wherever possible and prey on the weak. They are you drug test monthly which is a trip to the clinic and 35 of which I have NEVER failed. This place has added to my condition and stressed me so bad, I've wondered if I even want help. This place sent me to Ethos labs to leave a urine sample- it was in the same office so I just assumed it was all covered with my insurance for the visit. They didn't inform me it wasn't covered by my insurance. The reason was to test for drugs in my system if they're going to prescribe me a controlled substance. Then they tested it again a few weeks later. Little did I know I was going to be billed a few thousand dollars for each visit! That was a lovely surprise a week or 2 after having it done! (Yes that was sarcasm!) Otherwise I would have refused! So I went through my secondary insurance to try and get these ridiculous amounts covered. To do this I have to file the claims and send them off to CHAMPVA myself. I called up the office to get their tax identification (TIN) number to send off the claim and the lady over the phone told me that they do not give that number out to patients. When I tried to explain my situation about trying to claim and file myself, the lady literally hung up on me! Didn't say a thing about helping me figure out who to contact to get it, just hung up as I was in the middle of explaining! I don't understand what's wrong with this place but everywhere else I've been for treatments have happily just given me this TIN number over the phone for me to file myself. The amount of bad reviews about this place is unnerving. I'm considering just finding somewhere else. It's clear that I'm not the only one being screwed over. It's clear the office staff are completely unprofessional and rude and if it wasn't for the psychiatrist I'm seeing (Etienne Poufong, who in my opinion is very nice and understanding) I would have left and gone somewhere else a long time ago! For being a psychiatry office the staff don't seem to handle dealing with patients very well. This is a place where anxious/ depressed/ people with serious mental health issues go to get help and the view they get as soon as they step through the front doors is incompetent, rude staff! It doesn't exactly give off a nice first impression for people. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody, simply because of the office staff and serious lack of organisation. My husband is now going on a week of no refill and we cannot get ahold of anyone at their office. At one point he did get in contact with someone, but they hung up on him. I see attemp NP and she is an angel. She listens to you and gives you what is best. I have never come across someone so thoughtful and professional. She is the reason I have my mental sanity. Front desk in the other hand is a nightmare, pre-authorizations are never done on time, they all have nasty attitudes which I find it ironic when your dealing with patients with mental illnesses. SCAM SCAM & More SCAM! This is a Rip-off Report Situation! I can't even tell you the Nightmare dealing with Hawkins Office the last 1 & 1/2 year. And you are going there for mind help and balance only to be used as a means of ripping you off and trying to price gouge your Insurance Company! They are everything wrong with the American Medical System! Went in because office was very close to me and just wanted to get the same prescription I always get but not have to drive far. I've been to many doctor offices over the years for this same exact reason, I know the drill, but this office has a Scam going! They send you over to "An outside lab", that they don't tell you is not apart of their office that you booked your appointment with? They don't disclose it or communicate anything. They just force it. They had me pee in a cup and this "outside lab" charged my Insurance company thousands for it! That's the ONLY test they ran!!! Which my insurance company denied because it's not seen or done (quote from Aetna), and now that amount went to ME and to COLLECTIONS! Thousand dollars to pee in a cup when I have NEVER in all my years done this or been charged this by ANY ANY ANY.. Psychiatry office! WTH! I take topamax for god sakes! It's an anti-convulsant for headaches and anxiety. $5 to get my RX monthly filled, and no blood tests even needed! None of the nurse practitioners there speak good English, I think they're all from Africa, and the point being there is they try to act like they don't understand you when you try to dispute this corruption. They ran me around ragged 5 different times but acted like it was a wrongful charge to have me go away. Still never did ANYTHING about it, just hoped I would breakdown and pay. Really pathetic!! These people should not be in business. Don't even get me started on the on-site pharmacy! I'm sure they are cutting your meds with god knows what, because I am a Commercial Real Estate Agent and once tried to show this exact Pharmacists other locations that were the cheapest Real Estate locations you could type in the search bar. I strongly recommend not to contact Hawkins Psychiatry for anything. Very negative experience! Michelle, the office manager, is simply unprofessional. I voiced my concern with her about the office failing to answer any of my phone calls regarding scheduling a follow-up appointment. She not only failed to take ownership, she hung up in my face after yelling at me. I shared my experience with Dr. Hawkins about the negative interaction with Michelle, the office manager. He also failed to acknowledge my negative experience, and sent me an email stating to "seek behavioral health services from another provider." I was referred to Hawkins Psychiatry by my PCM for adult ADHD meds; my appointment was Sep 18, 2018. I was prescribed 90 days' medication (which my insurance allows), and the woman who sends the scripts to the pharmacies said she knew exactly how to send the prescription to my home delivery pharmacy; "No problem, I do it all the time!" As of today (Feb 7, 2019)--after many phone calls and contacting the office via their website form--I STILL have no meds. (The first time I called, their "solution" was to have me come in for another office visit.) The home delivery pharmacy has received nothing. I filed a formal complaint with Humana today! read more

This is an awful and disgraceful establishment. I have been upcharged multiple times and when I tried to ask about my balance I was treated like an animal. The office manager, Michelle, yelled and lied to me and I have truly never experienced such rudeness in my life. She ended her tirade by screaming that I should go to a doctor that's actually trustworthy! It's very sad because the therapists are great, but the office staff should be fired and replaced immediately. Also, I'm not the only one to have these issues. As I was checking out the waiting area was full of people waiting to dispute thousands of dollars worth of fraudulent charges. Dr. Germaine Hawkins, where do I start? His staff changes constantly, it seems he's unable to keep reliable or dependable staff - no-one stays long enough to build a rapport with their clients. The staff who do stay are wholly inadequate, seemingly untrained, and at times utterly incompetent. Although I was not a psychiatric patient, I did receive pain mgmt at this facility and I've witnessed firsthand the awful treatment or mistreatment of the patients. Many-a-time patients would become agitated or upset w/ the staff because of the errors that they made. The majority of Dr. Hawkin's patients are dealing w/ social disorders, anxiety, and/or major depression so you'd think the staff would be highly qualified and trained to deal with how to navigate these personalities and volatile situations. Not the case. Many times the staff would be just as rude and agitated as the patients - they were not patient, kind, nor understanding and that always bothered me. Many times my own prescriptions were written wrong. I've been accused of 'prescription tampering' at the pharmacy because the staff wrote my prescription wrong. I've had the wrong prescriptions called in. I've had my prescriptions called in late. There have been times when my prescriptions weren't called in at all! Oftentimes folks are dealing with medications we /they depend on or they will become quite ill. I've had to navigate their incompetencies by ensuring that I schedule my appointments weeks in advance just to ensure I afford myself enough time to correct any errors that they've made so that I get my prescriptions on time before I run out. This occurs on a regular basis. While Dr. Hawkins can appear to be a competent, kind, and somewhat gentle person (Someone who served his country) - he doesn't appear to be that concerned with how the patients are progressing or with resolving any of the inconsistencies that are plaguing his office staff / patient relationships. The medication that I was prescribed is a quite serious one that helps with addiction. Although I had been seeing him for years he chose to wait until the middle of a pandemic to begin tapering off this medicaiton - during the height of one of the most uncertain times in recent memory, a time filled with anxiety, stress, and lots of uncertainty. When the entire country was forced to stay at home and yet he chose to cut my meds forcing me into withdrawal. I wasn't in a position where I could be monitored or even seen by a clinician because we were all at home ( i was on my own). I conveyed my apprehensions to him about tapering at this time expressing my thoughts that perhaps this wasn't the best time to start but it didn't' matter. Ultimately I relapsed after being clean for more than 7 years. I felt hopeless being stuck at home, stressed out, scared, alone, and now withdrawing from the lack of my medication. There are so many competent Dr's out there that specialize and who care about your treatment. I've read many reviews and at times it can seem that some folks are attempting to atone for a personal vendetta against the party they're reviewing, but I assure you I hold no animosity against Dr. Hawkins. I think it's only fair that I convey my experiences given the 8 years I was a patient at Hawkins Psychiatry. read more

So far so good with my experience with then people at Dr Hawkins office, but I do not know what to do. I was just reading the Google reviews for that Dr Hawkins, and most of them are bad. I have not read them all (there are 303 reviews Google said), but I would say that 2/3 of what I have read so far is bad, and the rest are good. Must go pee before Dr Hawkins people will think about giving anything like Xanax for panic attacks (Xanax is classified by the FDA as a controlled substance so drug tests are required by law, I think. I see an NP (Etienne) and one of his partners (Sue). The Yelp reviews are even worse. I am thinking I will give them a fair chance if I can afford the copays, but I am NOT terminating ANYTHING with MHMR (who I have been seeing for months) for now (till I see how Dr Hawkins goes). read more

It's an alright place if you have patience and lots of free time to call them and to keep calling them if you need assistance from your Psych, no one ever answers most of the time, when they do answer, some office assistants are super rude and inconsiderate, after trying to call and get a hold of someone do to depression and anxiety side effects or , withdrawal symptoms possibly ,(which it's self it's a nightmare,literally) someone picks up,(yay)!! Avoid this place at all cost. I went to my first appointment only to walk out. The staff is rude and unprofessional. In addition, I was told that I was required to start taking drug tests if I wanted my ADHD prescription filled. I was blown away by this. I'm an adult and have been taking my prescription for over 10 years without a single issue and it works. So instead of being charged for an office visit to obtain my prescription, I would be charged for the visit, unnecessary drug test and who knows what else. The staff told me that it was procedure to drug test me on a regular basis if I wanted my prescription. Basically, if my test shows up positive for my prescription drug I'm good, but if it shows up negative I could lose my prescription. What the hell? There are times I don't need to take the medicine. Why would any professional doctor screw up a medicine plan that works? Once again, avoid this place at all cost unless you want to feel like a criminal while you and your insurance company pays for it. read more

They are not professional at all. The front desk people and nurses are always grumpy and monotone. then when you see the doctor that you think is Dr. Hawkins it not. They ask what you have anxiety, depression, etc. then prescribe pills and you are on your way. they don't get to know you, or your triggers. Then leave you cold turkey without medication until you have another appointment with them. they are not professional, and the blood work is done in a room, not a lab or a sterile environment. This place only kept me for as long as it did because of the wonderful Nurse Practitioner, Atem. She was kind, compassionate, and truly cared about her chosen field. Not only is the staff unfriendly, they are judgemental and they don't see patients as real people. The Office Manager, Michelle, would not make eye contact with me. She told me that I was, "disrespectful," and argued with me when I questioned her about office policies and procedures. She was defensive and not receptive to my concerns. She did not care to listen when I asked why I had to provide a urine sample (clean again) for the fourth time. I have never felt so belittled and dehumanized. When I first came to Dr. Hawkins office, I made an appointment with Dr. Germaine Hawkins. No one told me I was going to see his assistant for my initial consultation. I paid over $300 for an hour and a half initial consultation (with his assistant) that was 15-20 minutes. I returned three more times before I finally understood that they were in the wrong, not me. I feel so sad for the depressed, the anxious and the vulnerable who go to Dr. Hawkins seeking help. He does not offer sympathy, or understanding. He offers no respect or advice.
