The shrimp addition to the filet

1st time dining at this fabulous place. We were greeted by smiling faces as we walked in, and then another smiling face - Alena - our server. She was kind and knowledgeable and concise. Wonderful staff brought drinks, napkins and a smile. So, there we go - 5 stars We loved the ambiance, the decor & the lighting. Dark wood, cool booths and enough lighting to feel cozy. Michael recommended a nice wine for the birthday girl and I had a perfect (happy hour) martini. (One lil disappointment-a fancy restaurant like Hawksmoor-please stuff your own blue cheese olives!) We had a tasty and perfectly cooked filet. Temperature and flavor were exquisite. Sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes We choose steakhouses when we want a special evening...Hawksmoor has vaulted to the top of the list in Chicago!! (Also, try the dumplings as a plate to share, delectable) And Pedro, Thank You for saying Hi. We will absolutely see you soon!!

Had a business dinner hosted here in a private dinning space downstairs from the main restaurant and they put together a 4-course tasting menu. It was an impressive amount of food and everything I ate was outstanding! My favorite was the puff meat appetizers and of course the steaks cooked to perfection. Only downside is there were a few things served that I could not try due to allergies and they didn't ask beforehand so not sure if that was a miss or not from a service perspective. Drinks stayed filled, they changed out silverware with each course and overall a very nice upscale steak house. I'd like to go back to order from the main menu.

Came by specifically for the happy hour! Runs 5-6 daily! Came on a Friday evening. Two of us ordered: pazo HH $12 argiano HH $12 HH natural oysters $2 ea, ordered 3 dozen steak frites $25 pieropan HH $12 Julian was friendly taking care of us. Relatively empty in the bar area. Wine was good. Oysters were fresh (though small). Steak was cooked well too! Also Hawksmoor is a part of the Open Table Chase Sapphire Reserve, so definitely can be used for the $150 credit!

Really enjoyed our dinner at Hawksmoor! We started with the $2 happy hour oysters, which were super fresh. The charcoal-roasted scallops from the regular dinner menu were probably our favorite dish of the night--so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Notorious B.E.E.F. burger was definitely indulgent, but not overwhelmingly so (and it's nowhere near as huge as it looks in the photos--good photography, haha!). The happy hour steak frites was also delicious and a great value at $28. Our server, Alex, was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and they surprised us with a complimentary peanut cake and salted caramel ice cream, which was such a sweet touch. Great food, great service, and especially good value during happy hour. We'd definitely come back!

Visited London a few years ago and was unable to try the Sunday roast (it books out quick!) so was happy when a Hawksmoor opened in Chicago! Went here with a buddy and tried the Ultimate Sharing Roast for two, which is a spruced up version of their normal beef rump Sunday roast; it comes with slices of juicy rib roast, roast potatoes + cabbage + parsnips, bone marrow stuffing, a Yorkshire pudding, a cup of gravy for each person, a roasted garlic head, and when we went it also included a side of their baked cauliflower cheese, although I think now the whole set is a bit cheaper and doesn't include that any more. The beef slices were nicely rare in the middle and juicy, complemented by the super savory velvety bone marrow gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was airy and light, and while the veggies and some of the sides lacked a bit of salt, they were all roasted and prepared so well. The roasted garlic was perfectly spreadable and took all the meat and veggies up a notch. To top it all off, they brought us some warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies as a complimentary little dessert! While it's not an every week type of thing for me, the Sunday roast definitely lived up to the hype!

We were visiting Chicago for a birthday weekend and chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner. I love the atmosphere of this building, kinda reminds me of a speakeasy. The service was top notch. We got the cast iron filet for the table it was plenty to share for four of us. The cocktails were really good as well. This is a little pricey but a great place to go to celebrate a special occasion.

Had an early Father's Day celebration here with my family! Came on a Sunday to try their Sunday roast British tradition. Scallops: Get these!!! So buttery and delicious. I could've easily eaten 20 of these. Hawksmoor iced tea: Skip this. Little to no sweetness. Very watered down. Pineapple soda: Was also watered down Sunday roast: Great to experience with a group! We got 1 ultimate roast and 2 regular roasts cause they were short on the ultimate portion. The meat needed more salt but other than that it was good. The gravy is delish! Comes with stuffing and cheesy cauliflower as the sides. Sticky toffee pudding: Get! Cake is very moist and the syrup at the bottom is so good. I love toffee pudding in general! We also got the sundae form and it was equally as good!

Decided to partake in the Sunday Roast tradition at Hawksmoor Chicago after being heavily target-marketed on Instagram with lascivious reels of the bone marrow gravy being poured slow-mo over glistening beef. Needless to say, their marketing team deserves a raise. Good location in River North in an old cable car powerhouse, with a moody yet upscale aesthetic. Didn't love being sat for our Sunday brunch in the far corner next to the waitstaff service station, but the upholstered bench seating was comfortable. The Sunday Roast is the star of the show, but there are options that you can select to enhance your experience. We selected the Ultimate Sharing Roast, which comes with all the items in the per-person portion plus the Cauliflower Gratin and the Bone Marrow Stuffing, baked in-bone. The presentation is wonderful and the real highlights were the rib of beef with bone marrow gravy, the perfectly crisp roasted potatoes, the parsnips, the gratin, and the Yorkshire pudding. The cabbage could have used a little more fat and seasoning for its roasting, the bone marrow stuffing was dry and required the addition of the gravy to be even partially enjoyable, and the additional bone marrow bone, which I found to be overkill. I adored the spicy and bracing Shaky Pete's Ginger Brew during the meal, which was a perfect foil to the rather heavy, savory foodstuffs. It was a beautiful 70°+ day in Chicago and frankly, this is a colder weather kind of brunch. Save it for a rainy day! Literally! Our service was excellent throughout the meal, and we felt very well taken care of. We ended with the Sticky Toffee Sunday, an absolutely decadent treat but in a manageable portion and proportion with the ice cream. We were then treated to a little extra, a duo or chocolate oatmeal cookies that, for me at the end of this extremely filling and indulgent meal, were one toke over the line. I did enjoy the courtesy bite I took. It's a spendy way to start your Sunday, but very enjoyable. It could easily feed three (or four with modest appetites.) I do want to return to sample the other desserts and have another of those cocktails!

It was a difficult day at work, and I was craving a steak! I set out searching for a place to get some, and my eyes found themselves gravitating toward Hawksmoor, especially their happy hour menu. I went in and discovered that while the restaurant is fine dining, they do have an area upstairs which has more of a pub vibe, but with the same menu. From their happy hour menu, I ordered an Old Fashioned, a Margarita, oysters (six raw, three fried), and the steak and fries. Outside of the happy hour menu, I ordered the Steelhead Tartare and a Peanut Butter Louis for dessert. The raw oysters were fine. They were of small-to-medium size, and one or two of them had a little bit of shell. No complaints about the fried oysters. They were fried to crisp perfection, and while they didn't taste fishy, they weren't exploding with flavor, either. At $2 apiece for both, I'm going to choose to be forgiving. Where it comes to the Steelhead Tartare, this was one of the stars of the night. The fish was of absolutely stupendous quality and allowed to shine, rather than being overpowered by everything else. It was accented just the right amount by a little bit of greens, a lightly citrusy and sesame-based sauce, and teeny-tiny rings of chili. These added a very subtle heat that made me wish my taste buds weren't already seared off. The tartare was served with some well-toasted, properly thin quality bread. In terms of the main event, the steak frites were alright. The fries were underwhelming. They had a good level of salt, but otherwise seemed like they were either not made with care, or had spent some quality time under a lamp. In terms of the steak, maybe this is me being an uncultured swine, but I felt it wasn't show-stopping. It had a little bit of seasoning (salt), wasn't at all chewy, and had some good, subtle meat flavors. However, I've also had absolutely amazing melt-in-your-mouth steaks, and this wasn't it. Now, I appreciate that rump roast tends to be on the leaner side, but so does Filet Mignon, and I've had great ones that *do* melt in your mouth. For dessert, I ordered a Peanut Butter Louis, and this was the other star of the night. I can see why this is a variant of something served at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Some of the inside of the cake was crisp, while the rest was soft and decadent. This is especially helped by the peanut butter. Everything comes together in delicious harmony. It gets me nostalgic for when Reese's Cups were actually great before they went cheapo on the ingredients, but I digress. When it comes to the drinks, the Old Fashioned and the Margarita were standard. They were well-executed, but beyond that, completely unremarkable. If you *do* seek something more amazing, they have them on the regular menu, but these cost eight dollars more. It's happy hour, beggars can't be choosers. I do appreciate that these two drinks were strong, and getting out of my seat after the meal, I could definitely feel them. In terms of value, getting a solid piece of meat, $2 oysters, and strong drinks is a great deal. However, as it is with me, I start getting some accoutrements, and the price goes up pretty steeply. Set your expectations wisely. If you're seeking to get some good food in your belly at reasonable prices, Hawksmoor's happy hour is the place for you. But, if you want an elevated cocktail or elevated steak, maybe look beyond the HH. When it comes to service, I want to award all the credit. Items came out fast, and the service was kind, attentive, friendly, and the servers worked together as a team. One final note. I am not someone who cares *that* much. However, I notice, and I share. For a place that calls itself fine dining, the silverware had aggressive spotting. I realize it isn't dirt and just water spots. Nonetheless, one would hope a place that touts itself as fine dining would have their stuff together in terms of polishing. Final verdict. While there were some winners of the night, the main event left me underwhelmed. Perhaps that's by design, but given the fries, I can't be so sure. I do know that I left having paid a pretty penny with only moderate satisfaction. Thus, I don't have a feeling of dying to return, be it the HH menu or otherwise.

Great tasting food. It was absolutely delicious. We did have to wait quite a bit, close to 30 minutes for our food to come though, and no one seemed to notice or even stop by to say anything even though we were in the center of the restaurant. That was disappointing, but the delicious food made up for this for sure. Great space, not overly loud. They do absolutely get the food right!

Hawksmoor met, and exceeded, our expectations. The menu features traditional comfort food with an English flair, and everything is freshly prepared and delicious. I don't usually order French fries, but they're an absolute must here. We sampled a variety of dishes, including the burger, oysters, sloppy joes, and shrimp. Every single one was excellent, and the service was impeccable. Our server, Patrick, was incredibly attentive and even surprised us with a complimentary side we had been considering but couldn't quite decide on. Overall, a five-star experience. We'll definitely be back.

Oysters are on the menu... Next time for me for sure

Based on a Facebook post with a photo of steak frites at a special price during the happy hour from 5-6 pm, I booked a reservation. The experience was delicious and welcoming. I was in Chicago on business solo and this was, hands down, the best foodie experience. I'll definitely return the next time I'm on Chicago. Steak was perfect, red wine was well-paired, and the frites (fries) were crispy and tasty. Attentive, friendly bartenders who made everyone feel at home. Upscale, authentic British steakhouse, at reasonable prices.

The place was half full and the staff was very friendly. You order at the counter, they give you a number and deliver the food to your table. My wife ordered their Skirt Steak taco and their Sweet & Spicy chicken taco. The skirt steak came with roasted tomato salsa, arugula, queso, lime and cilantro. I'm sorry but what the hell is arugula doing on a taco? The chicken taco came with honey yogurt, cucumber, jalapeño, onion and mint. I get it. Im all for reinventing traditional dishes and perhaps making them healthier but this ain't it. The steak wasn't seasoned right, the any flavor the chicken had was hiding behind the mint and the cucumber. I ordered their Fried Chicken Burrito. This was a little better, but it also had arugula. The "tres queso" was like melted cheese. I thought it was going to come with a more traditional queso sauce. The habanero hot sauce was non existent. Anything habanero should always pack some heat. I'm obsessed with habanero. And trust me, I tried hard looking for it, it was not there. No heat. IIt also came potato chips on the side. Nobody is craving potato chips with their damn burrito man. Some tortilla chips would have probably been better. I'll admit, I wasn't a big fan of their menu prior to coming in. Still decided to stop in, but don't believe I'll ever return. And I get it, I'm probably not the palate they're trying to please. I am not the person they are catering to. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. But this just isn't it.
