I love this place!! They have popular Korean skincare and they also have good deals too. Some of the brands they have are Sulwhasoo, IOPE, Innisfree, Laneige etc, they don't have a lot of selection but they have the trust worthy brand. The thing I love the most here is that the lady give a lot of free samples for you to try, which is awesome. I heard the lady said that they have different deals every month, I recently went and I got the one get one free deal on makeup brushes/ sponges, she said last month they had shampoo that was buy one get one. They also have good reward system too, especially if you buy a lot of skincare. Due to covid, the store didn't have a lot of BB cushion that I wanted but hopefully they will restock more products. The customer service here is very friendly, which is rare for Korean store. Don't feel intimated because most of the time you'll be the only one in the store, you can ask them for good recommendations and they will be honest. I stopped by just to take a look around while waiting for my food at another shop...and I ended up with a mini facial, great skincare advice, and of course I was moved to spending way more than I intended, and I also got free samples! Owner argued over a "free gift" when I went to make an exchange. Summary: I've been shopping for gifts at Aritaum for years, but I had a terrible experience with the owner recently when she argued that we needed to return the "free gift" given with our purchase or it would be "too complicated" to make an exchange. I bought my mother & mother-in-law some nice skin cream for Mother's day. When I purchased, the employee gave me a makeup bag and some samples that were included as a "free gift" along with any purchase of $250+, so I included those in my gift too. But it turns out, MIL can't use that brand, so I went with my husband to return one of the skin creams. As soon as I showed the owner my receipt and cream (still in the original wrapping), she started with "Didn't we give you a gift as well?" We didn't have it and only came to return the product. But she started making a big fuss about how we needed to return the free gift along with the return, as that was included in our original pricing. It wasn't written anywhere on the receipt nor had the employee mentioned it when she explained the return policy. Husband offered to pay the price for the samples and makeup bag, or have it deducted from our store credit, but the owner refused that option. She said it was too complicated to do the return because we had been given a discount and the gift was included in the pricing (although again, not on the receipt). After she argued with us about it for many uncomfortable minutes, she ended up just giving us store credit for what we were returning. But to add insult to injury, when we chose some things to use up our store credit, and we had to pay the remainder of $6, she asked us to use cash instead of card (to avoid a credit card fee) and gave us the stink eye when we didn't have it. Sorry for the long explanation, but I have never in my life met a shop owner so stingy and unpleasant in my life. Either charge us for the value of the "free gift" or let it go. read more

If you know me, you know that I pick up random (and often expensive) hobbies every other week or so. My current obsession happens to be Korean skincare, which has been recently touted in beauty magazines as being ages and ages more advanced than other companies. While most makeup addicts have been limited to purchasing Korean lines on EBay or specialty websites, my close proximity to Annandale has allowed me to check out and test the lines for myself. The Amore is located in a random strip mall and features products from the parent brand Amore Pacific. It includes Sulwhasoo which is a high-end skincare line to Laneige which is now being sold at Target (although I have not seen anything arrive in my aisles yet). I came into this store for one product alone, the IOPE Air Cushion XP which has been touted as the holy grail of all foundations because of his high SPF, light and buildable coverage, as well as a formulation of 30% mineral water and tons of other vitamins - - IE, it just does not cover your skin but it actually improves and evens out the texture over time. I walked in and the sales lady spoke perfect English and had even more perfect skin. She was a big fan of the IOPE Air Cushion and one look at her flawless face made a believer at once. She explained the three different coverage options and showed me how to apply. As someone who is not very makeup advanced, the technique was surprisingly easy. My skin immediately felt smooth and refreshed when applying the foundation and I was happy to see that it went on very, very lightly like a tinted moisturizer. No heavy cake face here! After I purchased my item she also threw in a free box of IOPE skincare samples and a few bb and cc creams for me to check out. I'd definitely come back! read more

Aritaum is a mini Sephora of South Korea. It's a part of the beauty giant Amore Pacific Group - a one-stop shop to explore most of their beauty lines. You can find their most expensive beauty lines such as Sulwhasoo (40s+) for your mom or more affordable line for younger crowd such as Mamonde or Laneige (20~30s). As K-beauty's popularity has grown, you can find these products at Sephora or online more easily, but shopping at Aritaum has its own pros. - VIP membership rewards (Collect points redeemable for discounts and samples) - A ton of samples on anything. - In-house promotions that are unbeatable It's a small store, but if you loved K-beauty products, it's a great place to be. You will be surprised at the quality of the goods and some of them are really cheap, too! For example, their $3 eyebrow auto pencil is as good as $20+ ones that you get at Sephora. Their modi nail polish is cheap ($3.50ish per bottle), but it's pretty good for the price. read more

I headed out here one Saturday because I wanted to pick up a cushion compact. I tried the Face Shop and Tony Moly first. Aritaum definitely has the best selection for cushion compacts (with more skin tone shades)! They also carry a lot of brands that I wanted to test first like Laneige, Mamonde, and Sulwhasoo. I ended up picking up an IOPE air cushion compact and got a really nice large sample set of skin care products from IOPE as a gift with purchase. The sales assistant was really helpful in helping me pick the best shade. I will definitely go back here next time I need some new makeup! read more

This is an official US Amore Pacific store. Though sparsely stocked, the store carries various lines of the Amore Pacific company, such as Sulwhasoo (luxury line), Laneige (drugstore line, also at Target), and IOPE. The store stocks skin care items, face masks, and make up. My friend and I stopped there so she could pick up an IOPE Air Cushion XP, which is the latest foundation trend in Korea. I didn't purchase one because I had my fiance pick up one at the Amore store in New York City's Chinatown. The prices are the same at both locations. The IOPE Air Cushion testers were pretty gross so I would not apply the foundation directly to your face. I recommend they offer disposable make up sponges instead of letting people test the foundation on the same makeup sponge that comes with the product. Make sure you check out the gifts with purchase offers on the main US Amore Pacific website before you go to the store so that you are aware of any freebies with your purchase. For instance, in February/March, any purchase of an IOPE air cushion came with a mini skin care kit. read more

A very rare find! We are so lucky to have such great korean entrepeneurs in our area. And opening up a Laniege and IOPE boutique is such a treat for those of us that do not frequent korea as often as we would like! Here you are able to swatch the Laniege cosmetics line. The sales women here are very knowledgable and helpful. They do not use pushy sales tactics. I was really happy to help some youtube beauty gurus find this gem of a store! I hope that if you are in the area you will stop in and pamper yourself. I left with the Laniege Strawberry Enzyme Yogurt Peel and Mask. I love these products. I was given a pumpkin enzyme facial mask at the four seasons and it did wonders for my skin. I am glad I waited and bought the Lineage mask, it works better and smells better too! I'm from Virginia Beach, so when I found out there was a korean beauty shop in the area I was stoked because I love my some skin care. They carried many popular brands such as Hanyul, Iope, Laneige, Mamonde and organized it by price and category so it was easy to find what was for different skin types. The worker there was very helpful and knowledgable on all the products. She directed me on what to get for my dry skin. I ended up buy a Laneige emulsion which is pretty much a lotion. She even put me on a sheet mask made of Mugwort which is a plant. It's suppose to help with acne, anti-aging, inflammation, and brightening. I ended up buying three of them since they were only 2-3 dollars each. Toward the end of my purchase she gave me samples to try. I will have to make this part of my stops when I come into Annandale again, very much enjoyed my visit and the products seem to be working so far! read more

I can think of at least three reasons why I might not belong in a Korean skincare and cosmetics shop, but the clerk here was so helpful and so nice, and made putting together a birthday gift for my wife a really pleasant experience. I had one product in mind (the IOPE Air Cushion, as mentioned by another reviewer), but everyone online was either out of stock or had to ship from Korea. This store had plenty of them, and in seemingly more varieties than I found online, plus I was able to get a nice variety of other products that I would never have been able to choose by myself. They were also generous with samples, even giving me samples of some of the products I purchased so that my wife could try them before opening the retail packs. read more

Nice store and employees, but I can barely communicate with them speaking minimal English. There was so much miscommunication when I talked to them, causing me to be confused about the return policy. I was told I can return everything within two weeks when I bought the products. I drove almost two hours there trying to return the products I did not use. I actually called the store to make sure I can return them and get my money back to avoid the unnecessary long drive. However, when I got there, the employee showed me the sign that they only gave store credit. I was not upset with the employees, they were nice, decent people, but I believe they should at least be able use fluent English to explain what each product does, and give heads up to their customers about their policy instead of confusing them. read more
