My wife and I have traveled to Istanbul, Turkey and other cities in Turkey, so my expectations were admittedly pretty high since I couldn't help but compare it to the authentic Turkish cuisine I've had previously. We felt the flavors here were good but a bit muted, with the exception of our Sigara and Spinach Börek appetizers because they were pretty much perfect. We had a great food experience here. Started off with the Mixed Meza Platter (not pictured) which for 3 people was an amazing amount of food (especially when we ordered some "Balloon Bread" in addition to the Homemade Bread it came with). We then ordered 3 dishes; Chicken Kebab, which my wife swooned over (and refused to share with me!), Shrimp Kebab, which my son loved, and chicken doner, for me. Each of the main dishes came with a delicious salad, buttery rice, bread, and marinated onions, all delicious. My one complaint was the chicken doner was a little tough...next time I'll try something else. The decor of the place was very pleasant, with lots of drone shots of Istanbul on TV screens as well as featured chefs in Turkey. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Service was a little too slow, especially when it was just us 3 there for a while Server rarely checked in with us on her own...I had to get her attention for water & drink refills, late food items, etc. Overall though, the place is a winner and we look forward to coming back! read more

Istanbul Restaurant is a true gem! From the moment we walked in, the space felt very clean, welcoming, and full of energy--it was busy, which is always a good sign, & the service is excellent. The food absolutely delivered. The hummus was incredibly fresh and flavorful and served with some of their sliced bread. The lamb kabobs were tender and beautifully seasoned, while the chicken kabobs were simply amazing--juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The moussaka entree was pure comfort food, rich and full of delicious, savory goodness. Do not skip the homemade bread--it's what I m going to start with on my next visit. For dessert, we enjoyed the rice pudding and baklava, and both were excellent. Highly recommend--this is a five-star dining experience all around! read more

My husband bought me a lamb wrap here. It was pricey but I thought it was good. I wish it came with fries or rice but it only came with the wrap. The meats are soft and flavorful. I would try again to try other menu items but would not order the wrap again. It was good but nothing special. He got take out but next time I would like to try to dine in to see what the ambiance is like. I watched a video on their page and it looks like they make the meats fresh. Glad to have another Mediterranean option in town. Recently opened so service bugs not totally worked out. We were seated immediately but the same person came by a few minutes later asking how our meal was. We had been waiting a bit, and he realized he had not taken our order, yet. The restaurant is stark but clean. It has a bit of a cafeteria feel to it. The food; however, is very good. We had the stuffed grape leaves, Kofte and meat Moussaka (similar taste as lasagna). I'd give Istanbul Grill House a solid three to four stars. The food was delicious and absolutely worth the wait. I ordered the chicken wrap and it was fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying once it finally arrived. That said, they are clearly still very new and working through some growing pains. We waited about ten minutes just to get menus, and everything moved a bit slowly overall. The people running the place were extremely friendly and welcoming, just a little frazzled as they juggle everything. If you have some patience, it's worth it. Overall, the food alone makes it worth visiting, and I'm excited to come back once they get a bit more settled in and find their rhythm. The potential here is definitely there read more

The restaurant is very clean and the owner & staff are all very polite and attentive. All of the food I've had here has been absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations completely. They have fresh black tea brewed that tastes sooo good, and the baklava is homemade from scratch (you can really tell)! We drove all the way up to Edmond just to try this restaurant out. It was super easy to find, and easy to get to as well. For someone who rarely visits Edmond, this should be something positive for Istanbul Grill House and Cafe. We were greeted immediately on arrival and led straight to a table, given menus. A bit later we were brought a carafe of cold water (no ice, yay! I am European that way in that I dislike drinks containing ice). It took a bit, but someone came to take our order. ANd since the food is freshly made when it is ordered, it took a bit of time to come out - we expected that and felt it was a mark of good food. It gave us time to catch up on personal events and share photos of our pets (I have Chihuahuas, my companion has cats - super cute photos all around). The chairs were comfortable and QUIET on the floor, no scraping screechy sounds, which means they took the effort to put coasterson the legs of the chairs - a huge plus. Some people liken the sound of chairs scraping across hard floors to be as bad or worse than fingernails across a chalkboard, so huzzah! The ambience is new, and it shows. New chairs, new tables, newly laid floor, and sparse decor. This will change as the restaurant ages - decor and personalization will happen, regulars will leave their marks, and the staff will be more relaxed. I'm glad to see it in this new stage, and look forward to watching it age. I'm curious to see what direction it will take. I ordered the Lahmacun because it looked delicious in the online photo. It did not arrive looking like the photo - it was a completely flat circle cut in half rather than the overlapped oval shape. This did not affect the flavor, just a bit disappointed to not get what they showed. It came with shredded lettuce and thin sliced tomatoes and a handful of raw red onions. I didn;t eat the onions because I had lots to do afterwards and didn't want onion breath. And brushing my teeth would not resolve the breath because it would be coming up from the stomach. My companion ordered the Chicken Adana, with baked onion, rice, salad, and wood fired bread. The Chicken Adana was praised as delicious and well seasoned, the rice was tasty, the bread tangy and definitely wood fired, with scorch marks on the crust, but the onions weren't baked, they were raw. That was a disappointment. They ae their onions, though, unlike me. There was sufficient food to fill us up but not so much there were leftovers. I kinda like that. Having to deal with go-boxes can be a hassle. Some people may want to consider ordering an appetizer if they have large appetites - they have some particularly yummy looking ones (the Börek and zucchini pancakes looked very appealing). Once the food was delivered, we had no other visits by any of the staff. We could have used a refill of water, but we could also travel a bit down the road and get more to drink for the journey back home. And this caused some confusion on how to pay. We never received a check, but there was a register way in the back where people could buy baklava and Turkish sodas, so I took a chance and went there. They had to hunt up our ticket, but found it, and I was able to pay. All of this part can be attributed to it being new and everyone getting familiar with what they're doing, so I expect it will improve soon. The food is delicious, though, and I will be returning as there were a couple of other dishes I wanted to try (I am a fan of lentil soup). read more

Finally a Turkish place in the OKC metro! Although it's a new place where they're working out the kinks, the interior is clean, the food is excellent, and the service very kind and hospitable. The chef even offered to make an off menu item, which is my favorite Turkish dish (iskander kabab). The chef was also kind enough to check on us after our main courses and dessert, They offered us tea and an array of desserts at the end of our meal. Their cold baklava is a fusion of baklava x tres leches where the baklava appeared to be soaked in a sweet milk mix and topped with cocoa, which was so tasty and rich.
