We didn't see any plays or anything but the staff was kind enough to let us walk in the theater and it was absolutely nice. I loved how they remodeled this entire place and it looks so historic and well maintained. I would say that there is about a couple hundred seats here and a cool little Lounge on the second floor. Great to see plays and even movies too! There's always events being featured here. It's a great place to go to brings the community together!

That's what keeps shows such as this fresh. The show would have been much more enjoyable if the parents directly behind us had been gracious enough to remove their loud, talkative children to a section where they wouldn't have ruined the experience for me. My husband and I had to move from our seats to another row with less choice seats. They play was great! Inconsiderate parents need lessons in civility, common sense and general consideration for those around you.

We went into the theater shop midday and they asked the lovely woman running the theater if we could have a tour? She was in the middle of getting ready for that night's Rocky Horror Picture Show, but in true sweet Southern hospitality, cheerfully let us in so we could look around and she could talk to us about the establishment. The theatre was lovingly restored in the 1980s by locals who turned it into a nonprofit. PBS broadcasts its Song of the Mountains show here monthly. The woman we spoke to was working on grants to bring in movies and other performances to the theater. It would be a great venue for all of the above. As I had an early flight home the next day, we didn't come back to see the show, but I truly believe this is a gem to be checked out in Marion.

Went to Benton Hall tonight to see Murder's in the Heir…read more This was a funny murder mystery with an unusual ending that no one would guess. The actors were very good and the set decoration was very nice. Benton Hall's stage is in a historic house with plenty of character. Pick up a refreshment and snack at the concession then grab a general admission seat and enjoy live theater. Come check out a play in Wilkesboro and the thriving businesses that are popping up.
