Shockingly poor customer service. Overpriced food. The food was good but not worth the prices. It was packed so there is some room for slow service. However it was more than slow. We wanted 35 min for pizza and burgers. The wait staff is young and needs some training in customer service. It was a sad atmosphere. None of them looked like they wanted to be there. We then moved outside for ice cream. Wait was worse out there. They served our first cone with the top scoop falling off. They handed it off and got out of there. I stood half way in the window asking if I could have a cup. Honestly the story makes me more mad. It was Just a sad experience. Catch them when they are not busy. They have a vast selection of ice cream which includes sugar and dairy free. the Waffle cones are amazing. We didn't have the pizza but It seemed to be a big hit with those that ordered it. This has been a favorite place for ice cream for years. Although they have several food offerings I've only come for ice cream. They were a decades long Sherman ice cream vendor, but now offer Mooville ice cream which has two creamery locations in Michigan (Nashville & Ionia). Although I've always liked Sherman's, Mooville is premium and a deliciously huge upgrade. Tonight I had a double in a cup and mixed it up with Sea Salt Carmel and Mackinaw Island Fudge (4 scoops and way too much to finish!). Both ice creams were incredible! Don't know whether or not if it's under new ownership/management, but still has the classic Hayloft ice cream concoctions available. Inside decor is old and tired and hopefully they'll upgrade that soon as well. Service tonight was a bit slow, but not bad at all for a Friday summer night. read more

As a kid my dad brought us here once or twice a summer, as a family treat. We lived about 20 miles away. As an adult I still come, back and really enjoy the ice cream and the friendly atmosphere. This last time we had a calzone and cobbler for me, and my wife had the brownie bucket, Yumm. I am a big fan of Shermens Ice cream that they serve here. The staff does a great job of making the many ice-cream concoctions from simple cones to parfait . My family has been going to Hayloft for as long as I can remember but I'm pretty sure last night was the last time. Service has always been really, really, ultra-slow at Hayloft but last night we waited for over an hour AFTER ordering to get 6 ice cream cones (nothing fancy). The place was manned by two young women, a young man, and the owner. The three youths spent more time eating pizza and and standing around than scooping ice cream. The owner could be seen in the closed dining room playing freecell. If he cares so little about our business that he couldn't get up to help scoop ice cream or at least create a sense of urgency in his employees while 40+ people stood outside waiting for $8 ice cream cones, then I'm done spending money there. read more

We were nearly weekly customers the last several summers. Loved their pizza, breadsticks and ice cream. Today we came in for the first time since the new owners, just for ice cream. I was happy to have the option to eat inside again. They have pared the menu down dramatically and no longer have any of our favorites. So instead I got a two scoop sundae. I will admit that the portion sizes in the past were too large and I expected them to pare it down. But what I got for 6.50 was the picture below. Smaller than a solo cup. Seven of us came back here again. We hadn't been in there since last year. We have been coming here for the last 15 years. The place wasn't very busy like it used to be. We found out soon enough why. The food ( salads, burgers, pizza) was not so great. My granddaughter had the Caesar salad which she couldn't eat. It was covered in huge croutons drenched in dressing. That was just stupid. The croutons were the only thing with dressing. Instead of putting it on the side like most decent places do. They did away with waitstaff. People delivered our food. Not friendly at all. My pizza was really bad. More like overcooked cardboard. They were not busy but yet they ran out of dishes!! My one granddaughter's ice cream was in a small take out container. Another's ice cream was a double scoop that was enormous. We also had ordered a 3 scoop and that wasn't even as big as the double!! It was just a huge pile of mess!! They had only one place to put trash and dishes and it was disgustingly full and gross! Overall a terrible experience. We won't be back any time soon. read more

A single scoop here is at least two giant baseball-sized scoops of QUALITY ice cream. At $2.59, this is a steal! Heck, even the "baby scoop" portion was bigger than a single scoop at most places. Once not even a thought in mind, Hayloft has since become one of my most significant unforgotten experiences. Every item on the menu comes with a dash of nostalgia and a hint of excitement. A little late to the show, I visited this rom-com styled ice cream parlor back in 2016. On the verge of leaving my hometown of 18 years for college, I wanted to make my final memory of the summer a memorable one. I journeyed 45+ minutes through the empty, but inviting, country roads of southern Michigan in a 2008 Hyundai Elantra with 2 of my best friends. With nothing but time on our hands, our youthful and innocent spirits were ready for the treat of a lifetime. Typically, our stop for a quick dairy desert was the local DQ (not ideal). I was sick of the usual routine of entering a restaurant filled with frowning employees, artificially crafted sugar, and awkward conversations between high school couples where the most captivating lines spoken are, "How is your Blizzard (that I used my moms credit card to buy)? I can't believe you chose that flavor. Ha Ha." My buddy, being the devoted hipster he is, suggested Hayloft, a hidden gem way out where the only worry is making sure there's enough beer, cigarettes, and girls with crooked teeth and sleeve tattoos to last the weekend. Not needing a hefty persuasion by any means, my other friend and I quickly agreed. To keep things relatively short, I'll cut to my time within the confines of the establishment. Each of us gave into the temptation from the food challenger voice that lives inside us and decided on the Brownie Bucket...full size. Typically, a shared family desert, we all decided on one for each us. At the time, we were all 18. Our metabolism was just as high as the local, Catholic high school lacrosse players hanging as a team in one their parents' $600,000 home basement after a big win against a rival school or as the kid who substitutes going to a party on a Friday night to play FIFA in his room alone instead. Our bodies, as well as our minds, were ready to take on this enormous feat. Weighing upwards to 15 pounds, I knew I had an extremely tough task ahead of me. I had to convince myself that this 3000+ calorie pleasure meal was worth losing the bottom row of my carefully carved and crafted 6-pack for. I dove into the bowl head first with no regards for any manners. Again, this is in the town where tobacco dip is part of the food pyramid, so good manners were the furthest thing from my cares. Taking in bites faster than a group of white sorority girls with a plain, only cheese, pizza at 3 a.m. after a pairing with the Delts, I knew nothing would slow me down and that I WOULD conquer this lactose intolerants' nightmare that laid in front of me. Eventually, though sad to confess, I was not able to overcome the punch sized bowl of ice cream, brownies, and whip cream. To be honest, I cannot recall if my friends did either. What has stuck with me though is each bite I took in. Filled with pasteurized (hopefully) ice cream and rich, chocolatey brownie, DQ and any other parlor for that matter could never do me justice again. I came for the ice cream and left with the everlasting thought in my mind of how fun of a night that was. Yes, you can come (and should come) for the ice cream, but I promise that you will leave with more than just minor gas from the dairy within your stomach. You will leave with an intimate experience with the people you love and, also, with the opportunity to brag to anyone you know about the time you got to enjoy the unmatched creamy delight of a desert at Hayloft. read more

I have nothing positive to say about my experience at the hayloft. For starters, after I placed my order the girl that was handing out orders got an attitude with a customer and then he asked for a refund and told them to keep their ice cream bc of the girl's attitude. Secondly, my party of 6 then waited 1 hour and 3 mins ( yes we kept a stopwatch going bc of a previous experience). And then at 9:15 the manager locked the doors and my 7 month pregnant friend wasn't allowed to use their bathroom even though we were paying customers. We dove quite a ways for this place, we heard the ice cream was good and the sizes were huge, first off they didn't have any of the yogurt that they said they had and didn't know the difference between yogurt and sugar free ice cream... we ended up getting a baby cone for our son at just under $3.00, It was big for being called a baby cone, not huge, but a full large scoop of ice cream, however I do wish they would have had a smaller size with a smaller price, for the little ones. I love the hayloft. I grew up goin there, but I only order their icecream. I never tried their other items on the menu. But WOW they give a person ALOT of ice cream! It's good too. The ice cream I usually get is the brownie Sunday. It comes in this huge pretty glass bowl that looks like a goblet. With huge chunks of brownies. Plus the scenery there is very pretty and relaxing, because it's out in the country. It's a nice family place to take the kids to or would make a nice daytime date where a couple can relax. read more
