This was the first time I had used Hayward and I couldn't be more pleased. I had sent an email on a Friday for a quote to remove a palo brea that had lost a big limb during a monsoon storm. Phil got back to me right away and was there the following Monday to give me an estimate. I actually got 3 other estimates and Phil agreed to match my lowest other bid. The crew of 5 just came today to remove the tree and grind the stump. They worked together as a team and had that tree cut down in 20 minutes! Have used Hayward for pruning my mesquite tree at my old house on several occasions. Had them remove 2 trees at the new house and prune the two big trees in the backyard. First off, thank you Hayward Tree Service Team! December 2015 we were looking for a tree service to get an out of control tree in our front yard under control, and saw a Hayward team working on trees in the neighborhood, check them out on Yelp, and had them out to for an estimate, it was suggested that the tree should be thinned out, and balanced, partly because we had been hacking away at the tree over the years trying to keep it off the house. Service was completed and we were impressed with all aspects of the service. Well here we are at the end of 2016 and thinking we should work more on thinning and shaping the tree in the front, and to our surprise we got a call from Hayward on Wednesday, they came out on Thursday for an estimate since we wanted three trees in the back yard worked on, and a Queen Palm removed. We had secured the services of another tree guy to remove our tall, dead pine tree, the second or third tallest tree in the 'hood. My wife requested that he bring his Certif. of Insurance. He never showed up. I called Hayward, they gave an estimate just a bit higher than the other service. On the appointed day, Mr. Hayward and his crew showed up, and laid the tree low in less than an hour. The APS line to our house ran under one of the offending branches, but that was no obstacle. They moved several obstructions in the yard in order to complete the job. Highly recommended! They do good work. Well they never showed up!!!! Appointment was for between 1-4 pm and now its 5 pm and no phone call, nothing!!!! They even called yesterday to verify the appointment??!!! I have attempted to call ( 602-402-1378 ) Hayward tree service several times over a couple week period. I repeatedly get a "Magic Jack" advertisement that is then followed by a message that states " your call can not be completed ". Finally on May-1, I call and get an answer from a young girl who answered with some statement about a tree service Something? I then ask "is this Hayward tree service"--Short pause?? giggling and a reply of yes. I ask "how do I get someone out for an estimate on tree trimming", to which she replies "I'm sorry----What???. Then I inquire about the Magic Jack advertisement and she states "Oh Yeah, that that is our answering service".(even though it takes no message.) At this point all the confidence that I had in the BIG arm dude on the advertisement has now evaporated. I do not get it. A business spends money to attract my attention and obtain my business and then presents itself in this mannor once you actually call. I told the young lady that possibly the negative reviews online were possibly valid and thanked her for her time. They should have called back via the caller ID and stated something like ? a big jet was flying overhead and I could not hear you. Make something up but try to redeam yourself. My husband and I obtained 3 estimates from various companies in the valley (would have had 4, but one company didn't even bother to show up or call for the time they had committed to) for the removal and stump grinding of a large tree. Not only did Hayward come in with the least expensive estimate, they were also the MOST PROFESSIONAL to deal with from the beginning. These guys did a great job! I have a 30' ash in my front yard that I have been neglecting for years, and knew it was time to do something about it before the whole thing ended up on my roof. There were many dead spots from previous years late freezes and this recent one (27 deg for three nights straight!) I knew I needed to get the thing looked at. Sebastian was on time for the estimate and very helpful with what needed to be done. We settled on a feed and crown clean. After some initial confusion regarding their Yelp Deal, we got the service scheduled. Trimming day arrived and the crew was early (I like that). Unfortunately, once they got up in the crown of the tree the true damage could be seen. They had to cut most of the crown out (dead and brittle) as well as much of the lower branches. They gave the tree a 70% chance of making it by the time all was said and done. It looks like a bit of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree right now, but there are signs of life yet. I'm hopeful that in the next couple of years with some proper care we can bring this guy back to its former glory. See you guys next year! read more

Hayward's is awesome! I called this company to cut down a huge, 40 year old eucalyptus tree in my mom's yard. It was the only company who I called that actually answered their phone. By that afternoon, the owner had emailed a quote to me. The price was very fair. The owner and one helper came when they said they would and worked their butts off. It was a difficult and hot job, but they were careful and hauled everything away. The owner was easy to work with and gives me hope there are other small businesses out there that are this honest, fair and trustworthy. Hayward Tree Service was very professional in removing an unwanted palm tree and grinding two other stumps from my yard. Scheduling over the phone with their office staff was easy. The estimator showed up on time and his price was better than a competitor's quote I received for the same work. The crew arrived on the morning they were scheduled. All were friendly and worked diligently to complete the job in a couple of hours. While cleaning up they even cleared my sidewalk of grass clippings that I had left there after mowing my lawn, a mess they didn't make. My yard looks much better now that the stumps are gone and I'm happy that I don't have to mow around them anymore. My HUGE mesquite tree fell over into my yard six days ago. I had called two other landscapers to come and remove the branches and clean the yard. I had sent them both a picture of the tree canopy laying on its side as tall as the two story house. The first did not show on Friday, I called and texted the picture to the second landscaper who promised to take care of the tree on Sunday... no show. I called Hayward Tree Service this morning to follow up on the quote request (with the photo) sent at midnight the night before, within 15 minutes the office person called to tell me they can be out to take care of the tree today. The crew called and texted me when they were on their way to the house, and by days end the branches were gone and the yard cleaned of all debris. Customer service is not dead and gone!! I had Hayward remove a pain in the rear pine tree yesterday as we are going to be building over that area shortly. Their price was very competitive but it was their communication that blew everyone else away. They were really on top of it from my initial inquiry, and then communicated when someone would be there and got me a quick estimate. Once I approved them for the removal, they sent over the necessary insurance paperwork. They called the day before the job to let me know when they would be there. The crew arrived right on time and was professional the entire way. They delivered 100% of what they said in their estimate and the site was so clean you would never know they were there. My experience with Hayward was excellent in every aspect. I submitted an online request for an estimate. Philip showed up on time, gave me an estimate and emailed me a written quote. Monday afternoon I received a call to schedule my tree removal. Wednesday at 8 a.m. - on time - 3 men came and removed my tree, cleaned up behind themselves and you would never know that a very tall and full palo verde tree had been in that small corner of my back yard. We recently had 5 palm trees trimmed and since we were unsure of how many fronds would be trimmed we called in and requested that only 3 fronds be left on each tree. We were told that the crew would be notified. After trimming each tree has about 8 to 10 remaining. We are a month removed from the work and we will need to have them trimmed again in a few months as opposed to next year. We were charged $40 more for the palm in front of the house because it was not skinned. After the work was completed there was a section of the tree that has been significantly disturbed and will now need to be skinned. Lastly there was a significant amount of debris that required clean up, including the roof that was covered in palm debris. Hayward refused to take ownership of the shoddy work or the debris they left behind, claiming that they are a small business and could not send a crew to address our concerns. We had used Hayward in the past and a few months ago spent significantly more to have them remove a very large tree. I guess addressing our concerns wasn't worth keeping a recurring customer happy. We won't be using them again and cannot recommend them. read more

I phoned Hayward Tree Service to get a quote on 5 tree removals. We agreed to an appointment day and Sebastian was there. He was professional with a people person qualitiy taking the time he needed and answered all my questions. When I told him I wanted Hayward to do the work he informed me someone from the office would phone to set an appointment. Amber phoned within the hour and we set the first available day, September 12. Sebatian and Alana phoned me the day prior to let me know when the crew would arrive. On the day the crew arrived Manuel came to the door and was very polite. The crew of 4 men worked non stopped as a united team each helping the other. It's been ages since I've seen such hard working men who seemed to be dedicated to doing a good job. Yes, all did speak Engiish and all men were extremely polite and concerned about getting the job done. The trees were large and some thorny yet they were diligent and careful while working in the heat. Upon completion, Manuel let me know and asked if I had any questions and willingly answered them. The removal of three rather large trees and two thorny took approximately 4 hours or less. I would recommend and use Hayward Tree Service again. Note; The individuals who come out and do the work are not just employees, they are human beings who should be treated with respect. I am a very picky person. I believe in getting the best for my money and I look for the best deal. I had two stumps (one large) one small and one 10 foot palm tree that I wanted removed and the stump ground. I got 5 quotes from various tree service companies. I was looking for the best deal, but also the most professional company. Right away I liked this company. I still had 3 more quotes to get, but these guys stuck out. My boyfriend was the one who dealt with them. We had asked them to call him before they went out to give the quote. Many of the tree companies didn't call. They just showed up, were 2 hours late, or asked a INSANE price. Hayward, came in at a very fair rate. Not the cheapest, but I believe you get what you pay for and in this case, we were paying for professionals to do a job right. They came out very professionally dressed (its the little details) and then promptly emailed a quote. After we made our decision, my boyfriend called them and they got us on the schedule. We weren't in a huge hurry but didn't want to wait to long. Tree trimmers are often busy and book out a few weeks in advance. The day before they called to remind us of the appt and told my boyfriend they would call before they arrived. The next day, they called before they arrived and my boyfriend met them there. The entire process took less then 20 min if that. They cleaned up the area and removed all the debris. I must say I was very pleased with the work, professionalism and just everything. Hayward showed up on time and did the job right! They took down a huge tree in our yard. It was a bit more pricey than other tree companies. They had initially quoted us a reasonable fee (very comparable to other companies - actually even cheaper) however the quote increased after they discovered the tree split down the trunk so they could not climb it and had to use a bucket truck. I thought it was a bit much but read the good reviews on them so we opted to go with them for the quality service. Overall, they took the huge tree down (nearly 2-3 stories high), removed the stump to include the visible roots, another tree stump in our yard, a neighbor's tree stump and cleaned up all in 1 1/2 hours!!!! They had sent a couple of workers and the owner came also. They indeed brought a bucket truck and wood chipper. They did an amazing and speedy job. I was super impressed with their work and would definitely recommend 10x over. They indeed were a little bit more pricey than other companies but well worth it.
