My wife and I were on our Diamond Bessie trip and had tried a few local places but had not gotten to this place which has a unique history of its own and we wanted to try it out. It was VERY hot outside and even short walks caused you to feel drained and sweat a lot so we were happy to be inside, it was a nice place, quiet, dimly lit which was nice after the brightness of outside. There were several tables with families, about 2 or 3 which is not overly busy but the dining room was small so it stood out. You walk in and wait to be seated, the hostess got us to a smaller table and then got our menus before heading to the back. We got our waters and never saw anyone else working besides the woman who seated us and gave us the menus and water. The second star is due to the menu looking intersting and the restaurant looking nice and quiet as well as clean. The low score is due to that is as far as we got. After getting the menu's and water we received no other help. We saw the hostess a few more times but never back at our table or the other tables. We did have a play to get to later so we did have limited time but we were able to leave here and go to another place and eat before the time limit. So after a wait, we finally left, we hadn't seen the hostess for some time by this point so I don't think they were aware we left and it was very disappointing as it looked like it had some good food and drinks. I don't mind a bit of a wait and I know many places are short staffed and this was a busy weekend for this town. But this was the only place where we didn't get any help. If we are ever back this way we will be happy to try again. But on this trip we were let down. I don't blame the hostess as she seemed to be alone so it was the company that dropped the ball here.

If you're in Jefferson, two words: Haywood. House. Seriously, Mick will take care of your hunger and thirst like a PRO! And I love this old bar!

I must admit I almost didn't try this place because of the bad reviews, I am so glad I ignored them! This place was amazing, we had such a good meal! The service was excellent and the food was equally as good. We had the watermelon goat cheese sliders as an appetizer and they were to die for. My wife had pasta and I had a burger and we couldn't have been happier. If you're in Jefferson, ignore the bad reviews and give this place a try! No

What a great place to visit on your day in Jefferson. There are so many choices in Jefferson but if you have a group that has diverse wants then this is the place. They have a huge menu with something for everyone. Want to watch the game in a classy setting? They have a beautiful bar area with a giant tv. Want to book a private room for 2, 8, 30? They have that too! This place is so awesome and if you know Jefferson, parking can be an issue but not here as they have a PRIVATE parking lot just for their patrons. We will be back for portobello mushroom caps and steak bites. Or fish and chips or hmm I guess we have several trips we need to plan!

Went for drinks and found it largely empty on a Thursday night after dinner. Friendly was bartender and we got good service.

I'm so glad we tried this one because it ended up being perfect! It's beautiful inside, especially the bar area. We sat in there because even though they don't have a dress code, we felt too underdressed and were more comfortable sitting at the bar. Right off the bat, the service was excellent. The hostess was super sweet and accommodating, and shortly after we sat, we were greeted by the owner. Above and beyond! He thanked us for coming and left us to our meal. We had: -Raw oysters: a mixed bunch of deliciousness! -Shrimp scampi: packed with shrimp! So much so that I couldn't finish the dish and had to take the rest home. Very tasty, and has a creole flare to it that sets it apart from your typical scampi dish. -Dessert: faced with the choice of vanilla OR chocolate crème brûlée, we dared to be different and it was a fabulous choice. The mint with the chocolate was a marvelous touch. -Drinks: I had a French 75 and my mom had a different 75 that I'm blanking on the name of. Both were fantastic! The bartenders were both awesome and they truly take pride in their creations. The owner came back around to check on us, and while we ate, we had noticed him giving what looked like tours to other patrons. We asked about some of the history and he was more than happy to share with us. Very interesting and an added bonus to our visit! All around, I had a wonderful birthday dinner and highly recommend this place to anyone who finds themselves in the area.

The food wasn't as good as it could have been in my opinion for the price. The service was okay. The place not as grand as I had expected from hearing people talk about it. I should have just went to Longview for a better anniversary meal with the wife.

The atmosphere is gorgeous, the service was impeccable, and every bite of food was unforgettable. It was absolutely worth the drive, and we'll definitely be back. We started with the smoked duck charcuterie board and it was incredible and normally I don't even like duck. The steak was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. To top it all off, the limoncello dessert was hands down the best dessert I've ever had. This wasn't just one of the best meals I've had--it may honestly be the best restaurant I've ever eaten at!

It only has 10 tables, so it is reservations only. Wanting to get on the experience, I made my reservations and set my expectations high. Driving there was a treat with the scenic views. Their signs on the main road outside of the restaurant make it very easy to navigate to the restaurant, even with limited visibility at night. We were immediately greeted by the valet driver and then the General Manager, who seated us promptly. (He visited with us after the meal and checked to make sure everything was up to our liking.) The inside was very intimate. The 10 tables were perfectly spaced to make the ambiance as good as it could get. It felt like you were alone, but not so quiet that it was uncomfortable either. Waters were poured and warm French bread was served. We were off to a great start. The waitress took good care of us overall. Her recommendations were helpful and her demeanor was very pleasant. We ordered the lobster mac and cheese along with the mushroom cap appetizers - both were flawless. For entrees - we ordered the ribeye and halibut. Both were well seasoned and excellently cooked. The fish was flavorful and flaky. The Brussel sprouts that we paired with the entrees were a poor choice. They felt soggy and not the flavor we were wanting. This was the ONLY complaint when it came to food as everything else was cooked to perfection. At a restaurant of this caliber, the small details are what make or break the experience for me. The drink service was very slow and the drinks themselves felt pretty watered down (not strong). It was close to 15-20 minutes between when I had finished my first drink and was asked if I wanted a second one. I asked for blue cheese crumbles with the steak and the waitress never brought or mentioned them. I asked for French fries in place of the scalloped potatoes, and the steak came with the scalloped potatoes instead. When I asked for fries to come out in addition to the steak (thinking the kitchen may have messed up), the waitress sounded like this was the first time I had asked for fries. I would definitely come back. But for the price tag that comes with this place ($375 was tab for 2), I hope the small details are capitalized on next time to secure that 5 star review.

My friend and my girlfriend both ordered their espresso martini that my friend claimed was the best espresso martini in town, while I got the bartender's recommendation of the Animal Style, a pineapple and jalapeño infused tequila with strawberries, cardamom bitters, and a lemon peel garnish. Normally, I hate any drink that is spicy. I cannot stand a Bloody Mary because I don't believe drinks should be allowed to be spicy, but this one, for having jalapeño, is not spicy at all. If anything, it's slightly savory with its tropical flavor. The bartender was great. They have appetizers and tapas as well and as my girlfriend sat down, she really wanted just one of their fresh oysters. I ordered her just one to try and it was $4.25. They gave us the smallest one they could find. The tiniest oyster of all time. I guess size really didn't matter because according to her it was very good. I would go back and have a few more cocktails, but it is a nice place to hang out on the square on a Friday night. A good time to be had by all. RIYL: The finest, most $15ish cocktail you can find.
