The lobster bisque had plenty of lobster and a perfect balance of cream. We split the 8-oz. center-cut filet; it was cooked to perfection. However, we ordered it "Oscar Style," and it came with a peppercorn sauce. When we told our waitress, she said that is not possible, I saw him put it on there. Then I got what I assume is the owner, and she told us it was served Oscar style. I know what Oscar style is, but clearly they do not, so I have attached a picture so they can see the difference between the light brown peppercorn sauce our steak was served with and a light yellow bearnaise sauce with crab. Our group had a fantastic dinner here in October 2024. Since we were a large party we opted for a buffet-style meal, which turned out to be the perfect choice. It allowed guests to sample a bit of everything offered, and the food was excellent. The wait staff was courteous, and the drink tickets significantly sped up our bar service, which we greatly appreciated. This is definitely the nicest restaurant in Jefferson! Both of the owners came by and introduced themselves, and shared some history of the building. It's an 1852 bank building and the 1890s bar was brought in from Kansas City. We started off with lobster bisque and it was awesome! It had huge chunks of lobster! Hubby had the ribeye and garlic mashed potatoes and said it was delicious. I had the pork chop, and it was also delicious and very tender. I loved the peach bourbon glaze! We finished off with the decadent pumpkin cheesecake, which was cheesecake on top of a cake layer. After dinner, we enjoyed listening to music in the back room by The Sultans, the house band. What a wonderful restaurant with great service. We had several different items at the table starting with the fried green tomatoes and truffle fries. Both absolutely amazing and full of flavor. For the main there was the short rib, pork ribeye, lobster bisque, and Airline Chicken Marsala. Everything was amazing! Definitely worth checking out if you're in town. But what I didn't understand was why they set our table next to where the band was sitting which was no walk way. My wife and I visited Jefferson on a Wednesday evening. Just to be safe, I tried booking an online reservation for two at 6:30. The online reservation system said no tables were available between 6:30 - 8:00, but we could reserve a table at 6:15. Anticipating a large crowd, I happily booked for 6:15. We arrived on time and were surprised at the expanse of white tablecloths and very few guests. My wife laughed, "They are all going to arrive at 6:30. We better order to get ahead of them!" Well, the crowd never showed up. Guess everyone had a last minute change of mind. Our waitress was untrained and knew little about the menu. We ordered specific beverages, and she delivered perhaps the worst martinis of our lives - served in coupe glasses... We ordered a large blue cheese wedge salad to be shared. She delivered the salad by putting it in the center of our table. We both had silverware. She walked away. We looked at each other and joked, "I guess we are supposed to reach to the center and dig in!" A few minutes later we got her attention and requested for two plates so we could share the salad. She brought us two teacup saucers. At that time we realized we had been duped. 1852 on Austin is a wannabe restaurant. Anticipating delicious entrees because of Dallas prices on the menu, we were disappointed and described the food as "Mush." We were fooled by the online reservation service, the untrained waitress, disappointing mush, and the worst beverages of our lives. Don't allow yourself to be a fool. Learn from our experience. My wife and I were in town for our anniversary and decided to have a nice meal out and actually "dine" instead of rushing through a meal to get on to the next thing. The food was terrific. The dining area was a little small and close together, so it wasn't as intimate as I would have hoped for, but the service was very good and we weren't rushed at all. WOW! Pleasantly surprised by everything we ordered on the menu. We had 2 appetizers and 5 different entrees. Our server tonight was wonderful and very attentive even with having multiple tables. The restaurant was so clean and welcoming. This would be wonderful for a date night, Birthday, Celebration or even just a night out. I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts, if you are looking for something a little less green the 1852 fries were super tasty as well. They have a wonderful selection of liquor & wine making my drink choice very tough to decide. I ended up ordering the French 75, it was made to perfection. I grew up in Jefferson and moved to Fort Worth Texas later in life. Everything we were served tonight was comparable to restaurants you would see downtown in a big city. Birthday celebration and they didn't disappoint! Salmon carpacio was great! So much salmon!!!! Brother and sister in law had the firecracker shrimp and loved it. The 'batter' was unusual, but so tasty!!! A couple of us had the steak frit3s with truffle oarmesan fries. Soooo good! The steak was amazing, everyone's prepared perfectly to their request. Absolutely delicious. We started with the boudin egg rolls which were outstanding. Lobster ravioli was perfectly Al dente, sauce was delicate, and the shrimp was excellent. The braised short ribs were fork tender and the mashed potatoes were the proper compliment. We brought home a piece of chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. That review will follow soon. The place was pretty busy on a Saturday night. Despite booking well in advance we were given a small table in an annex/sunroom that had no ambiance compared with the main dining room. Our server was young and very sweet with limited knowledge of the menu. Our salads were okay, the pasta primavera was nothing like "normal". It should be a light and flavorful dish yet this was loaded with a sauce that had no redeeming features and overwhelmed the pasta. The chicken was old, dry and tasteless. The pork chop was good and very tender but not fully cooked so could not consume it all. The desert we ordered was great. Perhaps next time we will find other dishes we like better. read more

We ate here for a lunch about a month ago. They also serve brunch on certain days and dinner; each of these have different menus. We try to leave our honest opinions. They improved the looks here a lot since we ate here in the past 5-10 years ago when it was Diamond B's The Franchise. This looks very nice inside still with the old bar. The service was very friendly. We started with an appetizer of "1852 Nachos." This was one of our favorites. The chips look like they make them there and they are seasoned. There is a lot more going on with these chips that makes them good: bacon and white cheddar (2 of our favorites) with diced tomatoes and chives, sriracha sour cream and a sauce called "Jalpeno beer cheese sauce." This all combines and worked for us. Three of ate together and 2 got the same entree= the Country Fried Steak. I got the 1852 burger. The 1852 Burger was okay. We all shared some of mine. It had a promising mixture of grounded brisket and short rib as a meat blend which is why I got it. But we basically all agreed this is where a lot of ingredients worked against it. We could not appreciate the meat really at all due to all the other flavors of the 1852 aioli and the pickled jalapeño. It also comes with bacon and cheddar and caramelized onions which were good.... and a big bun. I took the top bun off to better taste the inside but maybe the aioli and pickled jalapeño and caramelized were too much for us. My last few bites I took it all off and had the meat which was very good. Which isn't to say the whole burger was not good, it was, and probably many others really like it but just okay for us. Good fries too. However, the "Country Fried Steak" was awesome!...especially with the roasted jalapeño pepper gravy. If you know a lot of people in this part of the world and talk food with them, you will hear from time to time complaints about chicken fried steaks here and there and how it's hard to find a good one! Well, look no more. Order this one but try it with the Roasted Jalapeño Pepper gravy!!! No option though for mashed potatoes with the chicken fried steak. That is unfortunate since all chicken fried steak needs mashed potatoes and gravy. The other options we chose were just okay.....the nana's brothers ex wife potato salad was just okay and the green beans with bacon a little sweet for us. That is our take. We would go back easily maybe for dinner. Country Fried Steak......in our 11 years of doing this probably one of our favorite 2 (along with the cowgirl chicken fried steak with gravy and grilled onions and jalapeños from the now gone Hamburger Store down the street.) Great nachos and the other items were okay but still good to eat. 1852 is a must try. read more
