There is just so much to do from talking a stroll to the beach to bar hopping at the local bars. Another plus was the Starbucks just literally down the street! Second time around I rented the Royal Beach House, which was in September 2014 for my boyfriend's birthday again. It was an amazing 3-story house with tons of space. This time around it was a bit further from main street, but we were willing to sacrifice that for a larger place. We were blown away yet again the second time around. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They do have complementary dog beds that are huge and comfortable, they also have pack N plays for your little ones and also offer microwaves upon request. They have 2 pools, one with the slides and a beach entry pool. The other with a regular pool and different activities for the whole family to play with (ping pong table, giant chess, giant connect four) we only went to the one with the slide and our kids (ages 2- 10) loved it! We went closer to sundown but the water was warm so it felt nice. They have staff at almost all entrances checking for your wrist band to make sure you're staying there. There's access to the beach from both pools. It's a short walk to the crosswalk and you're there! They also have complementary wagons, beach chairs and you can take the towels with you and just return them when you get back! Makes it so easy to go! They do have a bar at the pool with the slides, we loved everything we got. My pool wrist band ended up getting too tight so I went to the front desk and they cut it off for me and gave me a new one. Again they were super friendly about that and even asked if we needed more water or anything. The cleanliness of the resort was top tier. It was walking distance from restaurants and the pier so we all had a lovely overall experience. Will definitely be back!

Listen here Americans, this is a hard review to make…read more Standard king room, the bed is hard as a rock, the pillows are so soft your head lays on the hard bed. The only reason I will never recommend this place is how bad the mattress and pillows are. Myself, my female partner are sore at the hips from this bed. As side sleepers, it is the hardest mattress I've experienced in some time, probably the same as a motel 6. The mattress is seriously as hard as the floor, the pillows are worthless. The nights I stayed, I used a couch cushion as a pillow because the ones they give you are worthless. I balled up 2 pillows and it still didn't support my head. The bed is like sleeping on a floor. My hips are hurting today from the poor mattress... the pullout bed has a metal bar that runs through it. So if you think that's a better idea you're wrong. I stayed 2 nights, standard king room, 10th floor. And I and partner barely slept because of discomfort. Not to mention the doors slam. So any time someone leaves the room in the hallway, you can hear it or watch your walls. Be prepared for loud slamming noises all night and early in the morning as people come and go. Oh, and we ordered 2 orders of chicken strips and French fries at 9:45pm. The room service arrived at 10:30 and they brought one order. I asked where the second order was. The room service guy say "you must have made a mistake and ordered only one" I showed him the receipt, two orders, 12$ each...he only brought one and only charged for one... he then said "well you're the last order of the night, I can make more if you want?" I said "no, it took you 45 minutes to bring this one, and you only brought half of what we asked" I can't wait until 1am for chicken strips and French fries. overall great location, 90% of the employees are great. The mattress is the sole reason I cannot tell my family members to stay here I see lots of posts about the pool experience so I will address. The pool with the slide is heated. The pool that was told is adults only was much colder, and... to no surprise is filled with kids and families too. We did both pools. So my wife wanted time away from our kids and went to the small adult pool first, and it was filled with unsupervised kids snorkeling (no lifeguard) and drunk adults celebrating a wedding. We chatted with the adults and they were drunk and laughed with us that "this is suppose to be the adults pool" and the women felt uncomfortable in revealing thong type bathing suits, drinking alcohol, around kids. The kids pool with the slide is also ridiculous because people show up early. Lay out towels and hog all the chairs. So when we went down, every chair was taken but like 25 people were in the pool. We found one chair, ONE CHAIR, that was not covered with a blue towel, for us to take turns sitting in. Keep in mind, there were more chairs than people in the pool. No one policed this area and allowed other guests to lay out there stuff, hog and steal all the chairs, more than they needed. A standard couple like us was left out and treated like trash because of the hotel not doing their job. One guy will lay out 10 towels across all the chairs and they won't even use them. So go to the adult pool? Yeah it's filled with kids too. Cannot recommend this place as much potential it has because the mattress and pillows are that bad. I can handle the small stuff like screwing up a room service or jerks taking more chairs than they need. I cannot get over the bed and the lasting discomfort it has given me and my wife. The best thing I can compare this sleep situation to, is remember being a kid, having a sleep over at a friends house? And you sleep on the floor with a crappy sheet and pillow? Yea, it's like that. Honestly, if I was 15 years old and played at the beach all day it's fine. But I'm an adult and not at a sleepover on the floor of my friends house... and paid over 1000$ FOOD: Is another question asked and posted about. Room service, the pool bar, the beach bar the hotel restaurant is all the same menus, (except Henry's which serves straight appetizers). So hopefully you like Cabo Wabo The secret play is order food delivered to your room from a 3rd party. You will get better quality, for less money. And then you tip that driver extra for coming to your room. Cabo wabo is average, expensive. Just 3rd party delivery the food. They will meet you at the valet and hand it off. Lots of guests do this all the time. We learned about it on the second day, so many people are just out there waiting for food delivery

My family and I have now…read morevacationed in the Upper and Lower units on two different occasions- once during Thanksgiving and once for two weeks during the summer. Each experience was unique and provided a ton of family memories. This rental property provides a first-class view of the ocean and is two steps from the boardwalk and beach. Our family and friends have never experienced a more convenient location- in terms of closeness to the beach and within a short walk to the grocery store, bar and grills, local shopping and surf school. We will probably vacation here forever because of the prime location and the owner and her assistant. They are always pleasant and willing to go the extra mile to assure the comfort of our family. Recently, each unit was updated with fresh paint, new tile, and new furniture. There is also a grill provided for summer family BBQs. We cannot thank Diane and NP Beachhouse enough for the wonderful hospitality and great family experience!

We had the loft and another party had the side room. We have no issues sharing the common space and it was fun to experience. This April, I scored a 2 night in cottage 4B on the only rainy/gloomy weekend we've had here. Of all the luck. Within 6days of reservation date, you lose 1 night stay so it was sunk cost so I went ahead and did both nights. Easy to check in and checkout. If you are down the hill, you can get a ride on the golf carts which are very nice. 2 cars overnight as well per cabin. Rooms were clean. There is no AC so be prepared depending on your weather. I wanted to leave windows open but most don't have a screen so you get bugs and I was afraid of critters coming in. (Saw it on a youtube from someone. ) Each cottage is different but great to get away. Beautiful location! SYOY!

Currently there are full cottages (like an Airbnb), dorms (private rooms with shared living space),and three ADA cottages. The prices range from $53 -$338 per space, per night, all year. Reservations for the cottages open up 6 months in advance at 8am, and the dorms open up 1 month in advance at 8am. The max time length is 7 days, per reservation. They are located right on the beach in Crystal cove, with full kitchens, bedding, towels, and toilet paper. The views are GORGEOUS!!! Lots of windows, and there is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing. We stayed in 29B which is the loft inside building 29 (4 twin beds and private bath downstairs) so cute, so comfortable, and just a lovely stay! The Beachcomber restaurant is located right on the beach as well, serving breakfast lunch and dinner. SUPER packed in summer, not such much in winter. There is a snack bar area, a couple historical building, and a souvenir shop adjacent to the restaurant. The Shake Shack is up at the top of the cliff, up a huge flight of stairs, on PCH. There is also a private meeting room located next to the reg office if you wanted to host a meeting overlooking the ocean. PLEASE NOTE FOR PARKING: the reg office is located past the ranger station, and you have to drive up there to get your keys and unload your car. Then you are given a parking permit, and have to drive your car across the street (PCH) and walk back to the cottage area, about a 10 min walk with minor hills. For the ADA cottages, you can park very close to the cottage. PRO-TIP: bring your own coffee cups, plates, silverware. Very limited in the cabin

They did provide dog beds upon request but the housekeeper delivered them arms fully extended barely grasping them with 2 fingers. Made me really uneasy to accept them if she didn't want to touch them herself. On top of that, one of my dogs developed kennel cough the day we checked out. And of course my other pet caught it a week after, then brought it home to share with my 3rd older dog. :( we did take them to Huntington Dog Beach so I can't say for certain that it was from the hotel, but I just have that feeling. Either way, proximity to the dog beach was excellent and my dogs had such a blast. We only encountered a few small pups yapping, other dogs seemed well behaved. Valet even gave my boys some treats and toys when we left :) I would definitely recommend this hotel for pet lovers. It seems they have some poor reviews from non fur patrons so I kind of wish they'd just completely lean into the pet accommodation... Either way, we felt very welcome here and would gladly stay again.

After some business in Big Bear Lake, I figured on staying in Southern California for a couple of days. Only about 1,5 hours from Big Bear Lake so let's do it. It can be difficult finding an ocean front condo and for a reasonable price, but this place fit us perfectly and the price, although mid range, $500 per night was well worth it. Starting with Check in, it was seamless. Ryan, at the front desk made it so simple. Our unit, one bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms, kitchen living room and a terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Can't ask for much more. Anything you need or want is literally within walking distance. Restaurants galore and many oceanfront. A supermarket about 50 yards from here. This is Southern California, so as the song goes " It Never Rains in California ". Yes I know there's more to this song, but I'm leaving it at that because the weather was absolutely perfect. From our terrace we could watch surfers all day and into the evening. The sunset was like an artist painting. Almost brings tears to your eyes. Just a couple of small issues. First, there are Ductless AC units in the condo but they weren't working. It's very warm, in the 90's, and no AC could be a problem. Ryan, at check in was upfront about this and told us there was a portable AC unit in our condo, which worked fine.disaster averted. Parking is very tight, but as I said before, anything you need is within walking distance, so once I parked my car, I never got in it again until we were leaving. Finally, yes it is ocean front, but there was a beach house in front of us so our view was slightly hindered but not enough to make a difference. If I'm back in this area, or anywhere nearby, I would definitely stay here, and they have a number of units so I'll let you know next time we're here and you can join us. You can be our guests.

Security of the complex and parking area is minimal. Anyone from the alley can easily access the parking lot and all units in this complex (not a good thing in California). At least a week prior to our arrival, someone in the unit had broken a bottle of horridly pungent woman's perfume in the master bedroom. The entire unit reeked, particularly the bedroom, making that room virtually unusable. All windows in the unit had to be kept open 24/7 to make the unit somewhat livable. The odor was absorbed into our clothing and luggage. The cleaning staff, who are there only a couple hours per day at unpredictable times, informed us they had cleaned the smell to the best of their ability and there was nothing more they could do. Due to our inconvenience, we asked for either another unit and/or some other compensation. We were given neither, except the offer to move to a completely different complex for the last night of our five night stay. The management's lack of concern and fairness illustrates very poor business practice and ensures we will never rent from this group (Everyday Luxury) again.
