You can't use the stove/oven, just FYI. I did a 1 nighter in a shared cottage in November. It was cooler weather and we were in the white house upstairs. We had the loft and another party had the side room. We have no issues sharing the common space and it was fun to experience. This April, I scored a 2 night in cottage 4B on the only rainy/gloomy weekend we've had here. Of all the luck. Within 6days of reservation date, you lose 1 night stay so it was sunk cost so I went ahead and did both nights. Easy to check in and checkout. If you are down the hill, you can get a ride on the golf carts which are very nice. 2 cars overnight as well per cabin. Rooms were clean. There is no AC so be prepared depending on your weather. I wanted to leave windows open but most don't have a screen so you get bugs and I was afraid of critters coming in. Currently there are full cottages (like an Airbnb), dorms (private rooms with shared living space),and three ADA cottages. The prices range from $53 -$338 per space, per night, all year. Reservations for the cottages open up 6 months in advance at 8am, and the dorms open up 1 month in advance at 8am. The max time length is 7 days, per reservation. They are located right on the beach in Crystal cove, with full kitchens, bedding, towels, and toilet paper. The views are GORGEOUS!!! Lots of windows, and there is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing. We stayed in 29B which is the loft inside building 29 (4 twin beds and private bath downstairs) so cute, so comfortable, and just a lovely stay! The Beachcomber restaurant is located right on the beach as well, serving breakfast lunch and dinner. SUPER packed in summer, not such much in winter. There is a snack bar area, a couple historical building, and a souvenir shop adjacent to the restaurant. The Shake Shack is up at the top of the cliff, up a huge flight of stairs, on PCH. There is also a private meeting room located next to the reg office if you wanted to host a meeting overlooking the ocean. PLEASE NOTE FOR PARKING: the reg office is located past the ranger station, and you have to drive up there to get your keys and unload your car. Then you are given a parking permit, and have to drive your car across the street (PCH) and walk back to the cottage area, about a 10 min walk with minor hills. For the ADA cottages, you can park very close to the cottage. PRO-TIP: bring your own coffee cups, plates, silverware. Very limited in the cabin

Bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchen were all spotlessly clean and free of sand--which is saying something because we were 1 block from the beach! The view, the proximity to the beach, the walkability to restaurants and shops, I can't imagine ever even looking for something better! We were able to accommodate 3 1/2 couples! Finally, the host was on call and responded immediately on even the most minor of questions. Plus, they proactively reached out a couple times to make sure all was well!

Newport Pier is one block away with lots of activities and eats. Pavilions is close by. The donut shop on the boardwalk is still as good as ever. The street tacos at Chihuahuas is great. We also liked TK Burgers and the greek place two doors down. The best pizza is at Gina's Pizza. My husband rode his bike everyday up and down the boardwalk, Balboa Island, and PCH. The dogs got to go on the beach before 10am and after 4:30pm everyday. The house was remodeled less than a year ago. Everything is still in tip top shape. We had a problem with the propane tank being empty and the vertical blinds not working in one room. They were out that day and fixed it all. Thank you so much! We plan to do it again!

The rooms were a good size and the beach is a long walk, easy bike and short drive away. The area is very quiet but still a short walk to a good sized shopping center with two grocery stores and a surprisingly adequate variety of restaurants. Honestly, for our family it was the best location we've ever had in HB. Very pleased. While there is really nothing to complain about, there were a couple of little things to note. The hot tub didn't work for the first few days and we weren't warned about that. The repair man did come and fix it near the end of the stay. Like most places in Huntington, the walls are thin. Builders in the 70's and 80's apparently didn't believe in insulation in Southern California. We stayed above another unit and could hear the ppl downstairs periodically but I'm sure the noise that we made upstairs would have been worse for them. It's very good that there is no street noise and the neighbors, while all in close proximity, were very quiet. Even Halloween was quiet! If the owners spent a few thousand dollars in the condo, the accommodation would be even better. Of course, they would probably have to charge more too. We received our security deposit back in a timely manner, we were provided with a playpen for our infant, they have a coin op laundry on premises and they have cable TV and a small convenience store basically across the street. All in all, we were very satisfied and will use SOCAL Hot Properties again next year. Thanks for the accommodation!

Cheap furnishings, hard uncomfortable beds, terrible lighting, no overhead lights just lamps and…read moresome of them don't even fully work, sheer curtains on sliding back door provide little privacy for changing, sheer curtains allow morning light in so forget about sleeping in, bathroom vanity is falling apart and missing knobs, shower head is gross, mini fridge hums all the time and makes it difficult to sleep, host provides very little basic needs for your stay, and when I had to evacuate the location due to major Hurricane Milton they refused to issue a refund for the duration of my stay equaling around $1,500.00 even though Airbnb has a major disruption event policy. These people are heartless crooks and should be completely ashamed of themselves. Money hungry and unconscionable and have absolutely NO business being in the hospitality business. 100 percent do NOT recommend. Negative 5 out of 5 stars.
