(I later looked at Google and Facebook which confirmed these ratings). I messaged the company and Brian got back to me shortly. I told him what I needed and asked for a quote. He said that he needed to see the home before he could quote a price. Brimin's protocol when taking on a new house is to first do a ceiling to floor deep clean to get everything up to their standards and then they schedule you for your next regular cleaning. Even though I was only in town a couple more days and Brian had morning until evening jobs, he still took time on Saturday to stop over with his wife and business partner, Jasmin, so I'd have a chance to meet them. I introduced them to everyone then Brian and Jasmin went around the house assessing what it needed for a deep clean and what it would need on an ongoing basis. When Brian got back to me with the estimate i was a little surprised by the cost. I guess I just didn't realize the amount of love the house really needed. My dad, on the other hand, flat out said no. He wasn't completely on board in the first place. I talked to Brian, told him our thoughts and concerns and we were able to work out something that we all could agree to. Brian and Jasmin came yesterday. They spent a combined 8 hours cleaning. I called my mom after they left and she could not stop raving - her chandelier sparkled, her kitchen light fixture was much brighter, they picked up everything and dusted underneath it (and there is A LOT of "everything"!). She just went on and on. And then on and on for a couple more days. She really enjoyed talking with Brian snd Jasmine (Brian did (very kindly) mention that my parents are quite the conversationalists - they will talk your ear off if you let them!) My brother happened to stop by while they were still there. He said he was very impressed with their work and he really felt a good vibe between them and our family. His opinion means a lot to me - he's an extremely hard worker and has exacting standards. For him to admire someone else's work says a whole lot. My dad was happy enough that he has agreed to monthly cleanings - we were hoping for twice a month but this is huge for him and we'll take those baby steps. I'm thrilled, but more in a selfish way, now I won't need to spend my visits cleaning nonstop! Please, if you are looking for a cleaning service and only make one call, make sure it is to Brian Brimin. You won't be sorry. (Update since I wrote this...unfortunately, my parents have both had major health issues since Brian and Jasmin were there last week. They are both headed to rehab for a few weeks to gain strength. We've finally convinced them that they really just can't live alone anymore so coming home to live at all is in question. No, you can't have their spot yet though, after finally finding the Brimins, I'm not willing to let them go that easily. I'm three time zones away from Brian right now so I will call him in the morning. I hope that they are still willing to come out for their scheduled appointment. Although the house really won't need much cleaning, I hope they can help my brother and I with some of the big big jobs like windows and such. I guess I'll find out if they are willing to stay on with us in the morning.)

This company will do everything in their power to get to the customer as quickly as possible and we don't need a second mortgage to pay the bill. He came out, explained thoroughly what the code mean and what he felt the issue was and fixed it immediately. He also explained another issue the code could mean but thought that it was only the fan issue and not a coolant issue. So he fixed it quickly and ensured I knew to call him should the issue reappear. I was very pleased with the honesty and integrity of the men in this company. They chose to do their business in honesty, not overcharging for service not necessary. Because I am an older woman, many companies seem to try to take advantage and overcharge. NOT THIS COMPANY!!! CALL THEM! I now have a fully functioning refrigerator that has been going strong. The whole cost was less than $100. The technician even gave me information on what to ask for at Home Depot/Lowes to fix the issue of re-hooking up the water line after the water line was moved during a downstairs complete remodel.

We used HB McClure for a few years. At first, they just started coming filling our tank without our approval. I got that straightened out and everything seemed smooth sailing. That was until I got a bill in the mail for a tank rental. The basics of it were you owe us this amount of money, because you did not fill up the required amount for our rental. The problem: WE OWN THE TANK! I called them up, assuming it was a misunderstanding that could be quickly dismissed. After talking to 3 different people, I was told I needed to prove that I indeed owned the tank (I've owned it for over 10 years). I ask the manager "Ken" if he could kindly show me the rental agreement I signed as well as proof that they owned the tank. He could not show our rental agreement (as we never signed one since we owned the tank) and had no way in proving it was their tank. While, speaking with hi, he got so furious he hung up on me. This was very unprofessional, all I did was ask if he could prove they owned the tank, yet he refused to answer the question. Now, I have to go through all my records to prove I own the tank or they will continue to charge me interest and they will come take the tank. The company can't even keep track of what they own. I will be the first to tell you that I will never use their service again. Honestly, this should have been an easy fix, once they realized they made a mistake, but they couldn't admit it. Save yourself grief and go with a good propane company. Not one that can't even keep track of the equipment they own or confess to their mistakes. Customer Service is not important to them. read more

I cannot say enough good about this company. I first went to HomeAdvisor.com and selected another company. It was HORRIBLE they came out and sold me on a "sealant" for my heat pump. 3 mos. later during the hottest time we just had over Memorial Day weekend, I was stuck with no AC, we had to stay in a hotel. I called HB and they called right back first thing in the a.m. and had an estimator there by 12pm that day! Holiday weekend, they came that Tuesday after the holiday. New heat pump installed. They were great, professional, clean and they made a joke about we hope you like being cold. Well they were right, it is 76 degrees with the AC on and I was freezing! Had to turn it off. I've hired H.B. McClure for two different services. They cleaned our duct work earlier this year and it was a great experience. They made sure I knew what the process would be in advance, they did not make a mess -- not even a spec -- and they delivered on their promise -- my hvac unit is much more efficient now. I've also called them for emergency (no heat) service right before Thanksgiving. They fit us in within 24 hours and had it fixed before they left. They have also provided us with pricing for various things like a new heat pump but I never felt pressured in any way. Great experience, highly recommend. read more

Had Nick from HB Home out. Arrived on time both days for a 2 day job installing electric for our new swimming pool and garage. He worked very efficiently, neat and tidy. We've had other contractors out before and they left horrible messes for us to clean up after them, Nick left NOTHING laying around for us to worry about... just a clean job! They were well above that at $625, and for top of the line Devon quoted me $200 more at $825, Seemed a bit steep. Although, he did give me a $25 military discount on the end. I do not fault their workmanship, just their pricing.

Central Penn Plumbing Service

Have used Central Penn for both preventative maintenance and plumbing repairs, and they are very…read moreprofessional and note pricing up front. Based on previous experience and calling around to other plumbers, I believe their preventative maintenance is reasonably priced ($125 for 'spring maintenance'). For repairs, they charge a 'trip fee' ($65 at the time of this writing) just to come to diagnose the problem, which again, is about in line with industry standards (some plumbing companies I called were a little cheaper while others were more expensive), though I did find one area plumbing company that will waive their trip fee if they do the repair (David Long in New Cumberland). To me, that's the most reasonable policy. We recently had Central Penn come out to the house due to an issue with our shower plumbing. The handle to turn the water on/off became impossible to turn in one direction. The issue was diagnosed as a bad cartridge, and the technician had the correct part to fix it, which he did in about 15 minutes. At the same time, we had him check our kitchen faucet, which had also had some leaking. This got a little more complicated because of a 'nut' that wouldn't release (no fault of Central Penn), and the technician had to call the manufacturer for instructions because the faucet was under warranty. Acting upon those instructions, we had to wait a day or so for a part to come in, and the initial attempt to make the repair failed (as the technician had suspected it might), so the tech called Moen again to get a different part. Unfortunately, at this point, the kitchen faucet was no longer useable. To make a long story short, due to a large party we were having over the weekend and the lack of availability of a tech to fix the problem prior to said party, I ended up doing the repair myself with the part Moen had shipped to the plumber (I live about 10 minutes from the business, so was able to pick it up), and ultimately, I paid Central Penn about $330 and the only thing we had to show for it was the repaired shower handle (again, a 15 minute job). Throughout the process, the technician was professional and worked with the manufactuer directly rather than making me contact them, which was appreciated, though I did end up having to talk to them myself to get the parts delivered prior to the weekend party (not knowing Central Penn wouldn't be available to do the fix until afterward). In summary, Central Penn was quick to respond to our call, very professional, and discussed pricing up front, but in the end, we paid quite a bit of money and had little to show for it, so we'll probably give someone else a try next time those dreaded words "honey, call the plumber" are uttered in the house. In general, a cheaper route is to use a plumber who is not part of a larger company, but then you will likely not get the response time required to fix the issue quickly. Update 4/14 - Owner of the company, working with Moen, has offered us a new faucet free of charge because he wasn't happy with how this situation was handled. It's the effort companies apply in trying to keep customers happy that separates one from another. Don't know if we'll go for the new faucet, but I've changed my previous opinion, and we'd certainly be willing to use Central Penn again.

Shortly after, the AC froze for the first time ever, thawed, and flooded the hallway with significant property damage. A second Central Penn tech came out, flagged restricted return airflow, and recommended adding another return. We got the estimate, requested minor changes for a revised quote - and never received one. During that window of waiting on the quote, the unit froze a second time. Only then did I bring in a 2nd independent licensed HVAC contractor, who discovered the blower fan speed was set incorrectly for the system. Combined with the restricted airflow from the vent being bolted and taped shut, this incorrect and overlooked fan speed was gradually destroying the equipment. Two unit freeze-ups, two Central Penn visits, property damage and two additional visits and repairs from a 2nd contractor left me roughly $5k out of pocket for problems that appear to have started the moment their first tech left in January. * First tech left the filter access door taped and bolted shut, restricting airflow. * Second tech correctly noted the restricted return air but somehow never noticed (or checked) that the blower fan speed was set incorrectly for the system (which one can only assume was correctly set prior to the January visit). At that visit I was given no warning to stop using the unit or any indication that continued operation could cause further damage as every previous visit stated the unit was in correct working order. * When I followed up via email afterwards with a full overview of the situation, they agreed to refund their follow-up visit to the bi-annual maintenance check (which I'm still waiting on the actual money from) I simply asked whether bolting/taping a filter door shut is standard procedure and whether techs routinely verify blower speed. That email has now gone 2+ weeks unanswered. Hard not to read the silence as an unwillingness to acknowledge either issue because of the liability it would create. I'm not asking for perfection. I'm asking that multiple paid maintenance visits catch the obvious things that can destroy an HVAC system, let alone most likely having the techs creating the issues, and that a long-time customer at least get a straight answer when things go sideways. Neither fully happened.
