The project involved a lot of layout decisions, uneven floor conditions, outlet coordination, panel proportions, cap details, and making sure everything would work both visually and practically in a commercial space. Paul was thoughtful throughout the process and clearly knows finish carpentry. What I appreciated most was that he did not just rush through it. He took the time to think through the details, explain options, and flag things that could affect the final result before cutting into the material. He was especially careful with the panel layout, wood movement, grain direction, and how the base and trim should be handled so the finished product would both look right and hold up well over time. The wainscoting came out really elegant and clean, and the craftsmanship is obvious in person. It gave the space warmth and character immediately. The bar work also came out great and tied in nicely with the rest of the room. Paul cares about the end result and it shows. If you are looking for someone for detailed trim or custom millwork and want somebody who actually thinks through the job instead of just nailing things up, I would absolutely recommend him.

From the beginning Manuel was challenging to get ahold of (no responses on emails mostly). Work started a week later than we had agreed on and Initially the project was supposed to take 3 days - demo, install, finishing- and it was suggested that it could be done in one week. The project started September 25 2024 and was finally finished November 15, almost 2 months. During demo we had to ask them to stop because they did not tape off the space and spread huge amounts of dust throughout our house that we ended up needing to do lead and aesbestos testing to move forward (not to mention, I had to take a day off of work to clean up the mess created). We had to call and text and basically beg them to send people out to finish the work and we could tell we were a very low priority- mostly working Saturdays, canceling multiple times after committing to dates, unwilling to commit to days until a day or two in advance, etc. He pretended he would work around our schedule but if that was the case, this work would have NEVER been completed. I canceled plans 3 times during this process to make myself available to get this work done. After demo, I think they realized this job was more complicated than originally anticipated but instead of telling us that, Manuel just kept us guessing, unsure if the timeline had changed- he did not want to communicate specifics with us which we would have really appreciated and welcomed. We learned quickly that they were not particularly respectful of our space so we began taping up our own plastic space dividers to keep dust and fumes out of the rest of our living space. The workers were very nice and I believe the issue is with management rather than the workers themselves. In the end, the work is nice enough which is why I give 2 stars instead of 1. The finished work was absolutely not worth the headache and displacement we experienced to get it done. It was a truly painful experience. I have other cabinetry projects I would like to do but will absolutely not be hiring MJ Custom cabinetry again to do the work.

Incompetent and careless. They did work repairing our kitchen a few years ago after mold. What they…read moresaid would be a 2 week job turned into probably 5 months. Writing this now because I just saw an outlet underneath the sink that's not at all mounted to the wall and was reminded of how ridiculous this whole ordeal was. They'd come maybe 2 times a week, maybe less, sit in the driveway and wait for each other for a while, and they'd always forget what they were supposed to do. Then they'd say "ah ya we remember now, gotta go to Home Depot" and take another 1-2 hours. The pace of work was incredibly slow. When they were redoing our kitchen, we came home and saw that the main handyman had bought cabinets for the sink that opened straight into the fridge and stove, so you could barely open them. It was on a corner, so clearly a corner / lazy Susan cabinet was needed. Delayed the job by however many days. They cracked the sink they put in, and there's carvings in the countertops from where they messed up with sloppy cutting. When they installed the AC window units, they stained the window panes, sink, and the outside of the house with the insulation foam and didn't attempt to clean it until I asked. They didn't get much up; still stained. They didn't put calking around the countertop they put in behind the sink. There were a bunch of other times where similar things happened that I had to ask them to redo it or do a part of the job they'd missed.

I recently hired HDC Painting after receiving three quotes to paint my retail business. This was an exterior job which involved intensive prep work due to severe aging of outdoor stucco and wood. The job bids included a wide range of prices and a wide range of recommendations of what each company suggested needed to be done to improve the exterior of my retail building. I decided to hire HDC Painting because they felt they could repair my existing wood and stucco structure and offered to do so at a much lower costs that the other bids I received. I was pleased to find their work efficient, thorough and timely. They prepped my building by scraping out the many stucco and wood cracks and then followed up with patching each of these cracks and then painted. I can't believe how beautiful my building looks thanks to these guys! I will without hesitation hire them again. read more

Well I heard about HDC through word of mouth, and that they did great work. My sister, who is not on yelp also had her house painted interior and exterior, and they did an amazing job! Following her job, several households in her neighborhood had work done by HDC, she said people kept stopping by during the process because they saw the thorough work being done and wanted to use them. Harley the owner, did an amazing job on our property and after working with him, we found out about his other services and background in carpentry and framing houses- so we've kept in touch with him for several other upgrades on our house over the last couple of years.- can't believe I'm only writing a review now!!- long over due. The consistent ease of communication with Mike via text regarding all work is truly next-level. I've never had an easier time working with someone. That's the part I don't know how to put into words. And then in addition to the communication, the quality of work Panther offers is extremely high. They can do so much more outside of just painting! I had an exterior door frame issue that multiple contractors had tried to address, and Panther was the only one who actually fixed the problem. The quality of their work both aesthetically and functionally is top-notch. I have some smaller projects I didn't hire them for because they are more expensive, and sometimes I just need cheaper relief less perfection, but the reason they're more expensive is because of their perfect quality. I'm to the point now where no matter what the project, even if I'm not sure it's something they can do or not, I check in with them first to see if it's something I can hire them for. Seriously, I don't know how Mike can communicate so easily and gracefully. That's so uncommon for contractors. Even the best ones don't do it as well as he does.
