Today, though, I walked into Julian's - and lo and behold - it was the same Julian from Woo who's opened his own place!! So excited about this - I just don't do facials, but my talented friend Kimberly Mack - seriously, if y'all need makeup done for anything from a special date to a wedding, call her (you can find her on FB) - asked me to come in. OMG (and I really don't like that acronym but that's all I can say). Nicole is a genius. I filled out a lengthy questionnaire about everything from skin type to medicines I take to diet....all so she could figure out how best to take care of me. I came in because Kimberly asked (I didn't know they've only been open a couple weeks!) and I was very nervous - pedicures are my domain but facials - eep! Nicole handled all my anxiety with such grace and she made sure to use such skin-appropriate (they use Caudile products) products and was super-attentive to my skittishness - she told me it would be the highest compliment if I fell asleep in her hands - and I did! Seriously - it was like getting a massage - she even worked on my hands and feet! BTW - they offer you water or wine when you come in but you won't even need the wine because it is so completely relaxing to be in such good hands. I left with samples and a cute new makeup bag - and I think I've got to go back, at least for a facial in a couple months (summer's end? sounds about right!) and some of that amazing smelling lotion she used on me - I still smell delicious. They took my credit card information and confirmed my appointment. The spa is located in a shopping plaza next to a pizza shop! Walking in you will find the products that they sell and to your right will be the check in desk. I was greeted promptly upon walking in. Since it was my first visit I did have to complete standard paper work. My massage therapist came and grabbed me a few minutes period ti the start time of my appointment. She did ask if I wanted he to focus on any particular area and I did advise her to focus on my shoulder and neck area. The room I was in was clean. Nothing fancy, but it was a clean space. My issue- I simply did not enjoy the massage. It did deliver what I was in desperate need of. My shoulders were very tight and my hope was to get some strong pressure to relieve some of the tension. My therapist did not ask me one time if the pressure was good. I am accustomed to the therapist making sure that my needs are being met and that just was not the case for this experience.
