Place was packed up the wazoo with guys and girls who had the most edgy hair cuts and colors. The girl who led me to get my hair washed was named Sophie. She was really sweet but very quiet. After washing and combing out my hair- I met Norris. The Norris. Norris is such an ideal stylist because the takes the time to get to know you and has so much fun cutting the hair. He comments on the music and really gets into the haircut itself. He is incredibly precise with his cutting techniques. He is also very down-to-earth and hilarious. I've never had so much fun getting my hair cut! I am incredibly satisfied with how my hair turned out and he even curled it for me- so I could go out later that night. Alright! I got a haircut from a salon from where I was not happy at all about the outcome! The v-shape cut I wanted was not achieved and Norris saved the day! I was skeptical about getting the balayage today because I only go to a reputable colorist I know and have tried before. Let's rewind! Got a Saturday appointment when I called last Wednesday of the same week. Already a plus for ease of appointment scheduling. Parking- hard to find street parking specially I went today (Saturday) lunch time Gladly found metered parking and yes I advice using the Chicago Parking app so it's at the tip of your finger tips if needed to extend time. Youre welcome Presented to my noon appointment and they seated me right away. An Asian lady was nice to get me started. She blow dried my hair and met Norris thereafter. Very friendly guy and took time to know what I wanted to achieve today. Showed me the hair shade collage and I picked ash brown so the color is not too striking and bold since I'm an older lady Norris offered if I wanted to go to the bathroom given balayage with a cut is gonna be a long process. Always attentive and asks how I'm doing while my hair is processing. The preliminary haircut - already ten times better! First stage of hair color processing - the bleach. The product they used is not pungent at all and smells really nice. I can tell it's good quality just from the smell. Asian lady helped out all through out the 3 stages of color processing. She was very nice but quiet. I got nervous since I saw beach blonde on my hair Norris put me at ease and said the second stage is the real color and the third stage is to achieve transition of hair color and to tone the color down I guess. Headquarter Salon has been in business at China Town for 10 years! Boy! Shoud have I known how excellent this guy is, I would have been going to him for years for hair care but henceforth, that is the plan. I am completely satisfied with the haircut and balayage!!! I decided to go to this salon because I saw great reviews. I have natural black hair and wanted to get a dark brown balayage treatment. I wanted to go somewhere in Chinatown since I figured they have a lot of experiencing coloring black hair, which can be difficult to dye sometimes. I had shown pictures of the coloring I preferred but my hair ended up turning out a lot more orange than I had wanted. I also didn't anticipate they were going to bleach all my hair and I wanted some of the natural black left in there. I do want to say that I may have not given a good description of what I wanted and also should have expressed my disappointment and apprehension during the entire process. I would like to give credit that they did give me a great hair cut. I was just disappointed in the coloring. It was much lighter than I wanted to the point where it looks very orange. read more

I have been going to the headquarter salon since 2015 for Japanese Hairstraightening. Norris did a great job until 2018. After that he either changed the product or doesnt just doesn't care anymore. I never got the results of Japanese Hairstraightening. They were sections of my hair wavy. He just cant get it right anymore even after numerous attempts. Just before the covid lockdown I got my roots touched up for Japanese straightening. After 72 hours I called him to let him know that sections of my hair weren't straight. He informed me his staff refused to work due the fear of the virus even before the stay at home order was issued. I waited patiently till things opened in June and scheduled an appointment and had to reschedule it and when I show up at his business for a 7 pm appointment, he refused to take me in as Japanese starighte takes 3 hours and his staff couldnt wait . I told him his staff scheduled a 7 pm appointment knowing it takes 3 hours . He explained to me saying his staff wasn't aware it was Japanese Hairstraightening. After all this he refused to do my roots as it was 3 months since I got my straightening and refused to admit that he didnt get it right at the first place. Clean salon with friendly staff. Everyone was required to wear a face mask and the staff did a good job sanitizing everything. I made an appointment ahead and was greeted on time. My digital perm took about 2 hours, but each step in the process moved rather quickly and efficiently. Norris did a great job and my curls turned out beautifully. The price of $160 + tip included digital perm, shampoo, and haircut. This is reasonable compared to my first digital perm experience in California that cost $250. I would definitely come back here. I got my first balayage / hair color done today with Norris and he executed it way better than I could imagine! At first I was thinking a rose gold balayage, showing the photo I pulled from Pinterest and he told me the color would wash out back to bleach in a few washes (which I'm thankful for the heads up). He pulled out the swatches of dyes and I picked a dark purplish red which he approved as even being less damaging to my hair too. The overall experience was so pleasant. From the auntie helping me wash, dry, and curl my hair to witnessing Norris's artistic talent at work. He kept checking if I was okay and offered some water while I waited for the dye to settle. They offer to wash your hair before and after the cut and style it--it's all included, and the price is definitely worth it. ***THIS REVIEW IS FOR JAPANESE STRAIGHTENING PROCEDURE*** Severely burnt my hair and caused the hair breakage from the roots. I was aware that this procedure may damage your hair, especially if the hair was previously colored, and I was ready for the burnt tips (as I had some color left on the tips). But the master applied too much material directly to my scalp that caused massive hair breakage and hair loss afterwards. Be extremely careful with this procedure and MAKE SURE master does not apply the material directly on the scalp as it will cause hair loss! Also the timing is crucial, if you overdo it - your hair will break. My master tried to make sure he does not overdo it, but he got the timing wrong, as my hair burnt. I wanted to have a Korean pixie haircut. I was really worried at first as I had checked most of the reviews and they were mostly about long hair. The place is cute and the people are efficient, however, after I got my hair washed, two men went straight into blow drying it with no products or anything. He added some curls to my semi thick hair and it came out to $25. My hair didn't even last for more than 4 hours and I ended up doing myself later.
