My mom takes classes here so when I was in town I wanted to go with her and check it out. We went to the Monday senior fit class at 12:15. Ana was the instructor - fun and welcoming. There were about 25 people in class and they come ready - grab their chair and weights and off the workout goes. I recently joined Healthfit Sarasota. I'm not yet a Senior, but I also felt highly intimidated when I went to other clubs that just didn't really lead you around and it were so filled with people that were fit that I felt a bit out of place. This gym set me up right from the start with a trainer to show me the equipment and run a diagnostic on me to show me my fat / water ratio and set a baseline for me. I decided that I liked Becky and set up several training sessions as I was just starting and felt I would need some assistance at the beginning. I did do 8 sessions and it's gone great. I will be on my own after two more, but I now have more confidence in what I can achieve and a better understanding of what I need to do. Equipment is great and they offer a good variety of machine style equipment and free weights. If you're just starting, I recommend going for a trainer if you can do it. It makes a big difference. Yes, the crowd is older, and there are some in rehabilitation, but I've yet to have a problem getting on equipment and everyone is polite and nice. I'm not surrounded by a ton of physically fit athletes, but I'm not intimidated and it's encouraged me. I had done a water aerobics class which was fun and you really get a workout. I plan on trying some others, but I know I can only do evening ones. Unfortunately, my work ours are such that the day classes are not for me. IF you really want to do classes, I'd review that part as it may not be for you. If you want to do some aerobic equipment and weight lifting equipment and get in and out of a gym and feel like the equipment is well made, I would say this is a great gym for you. The women's locker rooms are nice and clean. Showers are well built with privacy area. Hot tub is really nice and lap pool is gorgeous and big. I'm buying swim fins to try and do laps next. Lots of amenities which I like that a lot of other places don't have like the size of this pool. read more

Highly recommend. Large, clean athletic facility for medical rehab. Several certified trainers and staff there to help with all various physical medical conditions. Multiple workout options for all levels including; 2 pools, weights, cardio, yoga, pickleball, racket ball, basketball, cycling, and various aerobic classes. read more

I joined Healthfit shortly after it opened, primarily to swim in what they advertise as a " lap pool. " Although there is a smaller heated pool for therapy in the adjacent space, some choose the lap pool to walk. It is not uncommon for swimmers to swim one length and rest, occupying a lane for an inordinate amount of time. Despite a requirement that lanes be shared, swimmers object to that and refuse to allow another swimmer in. Further, it is not uncommon for someone to leave the pool to use the restroom, only to return to reclaim the lane. Despite filing a complaint, I have to date received no reply. If you are looking for a lap pool, or a responsive administrator, do not choose Healthfit. read more

Good place to work out! Equipment is limited but in good shape. Staff is pleasant and very helpful when you have a need!!

I cannot comment specifically on the HealthFit organization at large, as I am not a member. I can tell you that the facility, equipment, etc., looks amazing. However, what I can comment on is the youth summer camp program offered by HealthFit, which was extremely disappointing. I had booked my son (and his two sisters and a friend) for a week long summer camp at HealthFit because 2 of my son's school friends were attending and thought we would try it out. We did not return after Monday. All the kids reported that the counselors were very rude and downright mean to the kids, especially to my daughter who came home in tears. It would be one thing if just one of the kids came away with that opinion, but it was confirmed by all. Supposedly counselors were screaming at the kids and completely alienated my daughter. We ended up moving them to another local camp for the rest of the week. We discussed with the program director and were informed of their no refund policy and that they were hoping to improve the program next Summer. Decide for yourself, but we certainly will not be returning. read more

hould be a little more concerned about safety. They have equipment right behind the baskets along the baseline on their basketball court. There's a reason that section always has extra padding, its because that is where the most accidents occur. Workout equipment is good and front desk staff are always welcoming. Clean, and always empty! This is the best gym in town. The childcare is amazing. And older crowd, but that is the reason I love this gym so much! Never have to wait on machines. It is always impeccable you clean because it is run by sarasota memorial. Expensive for a monthly member ship, but totally worth it! read more

This is a great gym. Plenty of equipment for everyone. There are so many free classes you can sign up for. All the trainers and employees are very nice and have great knowledge to help you hit your goals. Basketball courts are great the swimming pool is even heated it's great. Everything is very clean. I always wipe and clean the equipment after each use. Never a problem with weights they're always re-racked. The power plea class will do wonders and you will feel the work out. My fiancé loves the spin class always a great work out. Helps with stamina. With summer going away Im already having more enthusiasm and wanting to head to the gym after my work day. read more

Very disappointed. Frist I was over-exercised,which laid me up for 4 month. I just returned from my heart doctor who has said my condition has worsen so I attempted to cancel my membership. Told I will have to pay for November. Cancellation was in October. I was told I could get a 3 month extension with a note from my doctor. I've decided I had enough and just cancelled the membership. read more

I wish I did more homework before joining. Depressing place to work out as it's all seniors and full of sick people in rehab. So this is a good place if that's you, but if you are younger it's just too depressing and non motivating. The employees will tie up equipment with folks in rehab or maybe it's just personal training, but they tie up one of the two bench presses for way too long, leaving a towel or water bottle on it for 15 minutes while off doing something else with their client/patient. I did take a couple of classes and they are good with good trainers. But I really wish I had shopped around a bit more and took notice of who actually works out there. read more

Very disappointed in this health club. I was ecpecting a higher level of expertise in the intake fitness assessment as it is associated with a hospital. The exercises recommended were not appropriate. There seems to be minimal if any communication with the physio staff in the rehab part of the same building. In addition the fees are high, unless you plan to take advantage of some of the free classes. There can be extra charges for some classes. read more
