I've never experienced such a demeaning, condescending, and cruel teacher. Lenny Nathan's method of teaching is asking trick questions and berating those who speak up - making them feel stupid and insecure. He targeted one of the people in our class repeatedly, raising his voice and consistently making her feel bad. He was hostile, unprofessional, and oppressing. In the days leading up to our class with him, he was almost unreachable on the phone and when he did answer he was incredibly rude and unhelpful - blaming my company for not understanding instructions he was poorly conveying to us. This was my third AHA course that I have attended, but the first at HealthSav and this was by far my worst experience. Lenny was a miserable miserable man. I understand saving a life is a vital skill, but this man does nothing to promote learning. He was degrading and incredibly unprofessional. Unsafe! RUN the instructor is so mean! Lenny has to be the worst instructor ever! He argues and yells at you! He was running so late and was yelling at me because of that which is so unprofessional. I should have read the reviews on Lenny as they all describe him as extremely rude. Never did I think to read reviews on a cpr instructor, but now I will. As soon as I got near this building I felt unsafe it's located next to a beer distributor and auto body car lot. The building is run down in shambles I don't know how the health department even allows classes to be taught here there's definitely mold you can smell and see how old the small rooms are. My allergies and asthma are bad and the air quality in this place was horrible plus with an instructor who is yelling at you my chest felt so tight I couldn't breath in there. Very disappointed... Way to intense and class instructor Lenny Nathan was rude and way to hard. One girl was nervous and was clearly finding the skills side hard and he was so ignorant to her. We were given no time at the end for the 25 question test, as soon as first person finished he started correcting out loud in a result I could not concentrate on my test. The guy is rude and condescending. He says at the start its okay to get answers wrong but then when you don't understand right away or when you get something wrong, he's rude and gets an attitude. He asks trick questions when he says they're not trick questions; sometimes he wants a specific answer, other times a general answer. He asked what people would do wrong in the situation, I told him, and he said "No! That's not what we do!" Just overall rude, condescending, impatient, hostile, all those adjectives. I took a CPR course and Lenny was very helpful from registering to the course itself. English is my second language and Lenny was VERY patient of explaining and answering all my questions. The place is very nice and the mannequins for the training was new and updated. I couldn't have a better experience with the course itself and how professional Lenny was. Took this course as a local to Rockland and went in thinking it would extremely convenient. It was absolutely ANYTHING but that. I have personally never made a yelp review in my entire life but after this experience, here I am. Lenny is definitely qualified to teach CPR, however does not know how to teach at all. Extremely rude, condescending, and negative. As a nursing student myself in a rigorous program with many "tough" teachers, this man blew all of them out of the water. I have never felt so discouraged and stupid after walking out of a course. Even though I am now newly certified, I feel as if I know nothing. Constantly yelling "NO" at students instead of positive reencoruagement. He would practically argue with students when they were genuinely confused and just wanted a better understanding. He would yell at you to answer questions but then proceed to yell more when you got them wrong. He also went over time about 2 hours making this an 8 hour course instead of 6. On top of this, the AC was broken throughout the building so it was literally 90 degrees the whole time. All of the students and I were dripping sweat from the heat and the stress of Lenny's instruction. One student who had asthma even had to leave to get her inhaler because she was so flustered from his instruction methods. He only provided us with a 5 minute break around hour 4 and that was it. As someone who does not eat breakfast, the man provided no lunch break and I went without eating until 6pm at night. I can tell this man is extremely passionate about CPR and wants students to learn the correct way to do it. However, this man does not know how to speak to other human beings and does not know how to teach. Very happy I am BLS trained for school but left very upset and discouraged because of this man. read more

I recently attended a private CPR training class organized by my women's group. The instruction was clear and consisted of videos, Q and A, and practice with "dummies" of both adults and infants. The instructor, Lenny, repeated the procedures many times which is necessary because there is a lot to remember and in an emergency, you want to be able to perform without pondering what to do next. He also explained the reasons behind the procedures which makes it easier to remember the importance of adhering to the guidelines. I learned so much. I will be keeping an eye out for AED's in public places. He mentioned the Good Samaritan laws that insure that anyone who in good faith is trying to help during an emergency will not be held responsible if a person in cardiac arrest is not able to be revived. Because a person is technically dead already, administering CPR can only help. The R stands for resuscitate, after all, which means to bring back to life. I recommend this training very highly. read more

I took Lenny's course several years ago as a nursing student and had an awful experience. I thought he was hostile, rude, and condescending. When I told him that I was studying in school to become a nurse, he commented that nurses are just 'glorified drug pushers'. Looking back at this experience now as a medical professional makes me so upset. All roles in the medical field are vital. I took ACLS, BLS, and PALS within a two week span in March 2020. The ACLS and PALS course was online with just the physical exam portion in class. The BLS course I signed up for was the in-person 6 hour course. I found Lenny to be very knowledgable and passionate about the courses and had a big interest in the direction for which the field was progressing. We spoke after each class about the course material and about medicine in general. I walked away feeling a lot more confident in my BLS, ACLS, and PALS abilities. I most certainly plan on renewing all my AHA certifications back with him in two years. All certifications I received were directly through the AHA and I am able to pull up all of my credentials from their website. Lenny had everything linked up within a few minutes of my course completion. Very satisfied with the class and Lenny as the instructor. If you get lucky, maybe you can also meet his 2 pups which are absolutely adorable. read more

I left in tears because how disgusted I was with how this man (lenny) treated me and another girl. Never in my life have I ever been treated with such disrespect. Lenny's 1st Aid/CPR training class was top notch. He keeps your attention and presents the material in an easy to understand format. He makes sure that you understand the material fully and takes the time to work with you during the hands-on testing to ensure that you're capable to perform if ever needed. read more

I am disgusted! I cant not believe how my 8 month pregnant wife was treated by this disgusting unprofessional individual! I have been a Rockland volunteer and a NYC EMT for over 20 years and have never heard of an instructor so unprofessional. This boarders on criminal the way he abused and screamed at my wife when she was the only student in a basic first aid class. I see now why she was the only student. She told me he was yelling at her like she was training to be a medical doctor and that she was incompetent. She's 8 months pregnant you piece of S..T. First I would like to mention I did not take any class from this provider. My bad experience has to do with registering for this class. The person I dealt with was very unprofessional and rude. He provided less than adequate assistance with registering for a CPR class. There was miscommunication as to location and registering and this gentleman accused me of "playing games." For an educator with something as serious as Health care, I would and you should expect professionalism which is not what I received. The content of the BLS class provided by the AHA was sufficient but, the instructor (Lenny) was TERRIBLE. He was extremely abrasive in his teaching techniques and down right rude in general. He actually made one of the students cry during skills practice because of his harshness and impatience with her. At one point I told him I was "afraid to answer" his questions because of fear he would get angry.
