If you want someone to take care of your hair this is the place to go. **warning** From appointment making to services you must be patient...really patient. Trying to find out how to contact he can be a turn off, and when you finally do get the correct number you will not be able to speak to anyone directly. You have to wait for a callback. Please Tonie figure out a way to be a bit more accessible for appointment making or even finding a contact. Once you make contact you will receive a text about the services and how to get to the location. The studio is a private studio in a residential area. No worries ladies you are not in someone's back kitchen, it really is a great set up, full service salon with a waiting room. Very up to date, professional, and most important clean. Please bring lunch, a book and your smart phone fully charged because the process she does is long. I was getting a shampoo press and curl. Let me say I absolutely loathe being in the salon longer than two hours. This was five and half hours of hair care. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the service and can totally understand how and why she had to take so long. I was having severe scalp itching and wanted a clean scalp technique. So my appointment did have this extra service which added to the time but even without the extra treatment this will never be an in and out experience. Please don't think this is a negative thing, she really works hard to use a healthy method from the wash to the slow hair drying she does to prevent heat damage. Of course because of the process it will take longer than your average hair style. My hair was absolutely healthy looking shiny and the best part it smelled soooo clean, and did not smell like the normal press and curl smell. I really appreciated that. My hairstyle was very basic and nothing super fancy, but my scalp felt so fresh and clean. I would like to go back for a basic press and curl to compare, but finding the time for it is hard. I'm very spontaneous and work in the EMS field so my schedule is not set up for me to make an appointment 2 weeks in advance. Calling on a Tuesday to get a hair appointment for Thursday or Friday will be absolutely impossible. So if you have a structured schedule You will enjoy the scheduling process. read more

So I had never heard of such a thing - oxygen treatments for your hair and scalp. And then I went and had one done... Amazing! Healthy hair is what I have alright. Tonie and Carolyn know what they're up to. I sat down in the chair and had no idea the pampering I was in for. They have such unique treatments - services they've experimented, explored, discovered and created. I spent a little time under the steamer letting my hair be saturated with a conditioner these ladies manufacture themselves, called "Oh, Behave!" Cute. I had a great time with Tonie, who is a blast, and I had an exhilirated scalp (yes, I don't know how it happened, but my scalp was definitely exhilirated) and I had incredibly healthy, beautiful hair once I walked out of the salon. I had no idea some of the things that I've done to my hair that have damaged it - things I truly thought were not harmful. And on top of it all, I had straight hair without all the fuss that black women usually have to go through to straighten their hair. And being with Tonie and Carolyn is like being with family and friends. Everyone who comes in to their orbit just has a good time and can be themselves. I came to Tonie for the first time about 2 months ago and my hair has been in love since day one. I walked in with a dandruff filled scalp and she immediately knew what my scalp needed. I had scabs of dandruff and my previous stylist never offered me any specific treatment other than a deep conditioning. Tonie put the treatment on my scalp and after the shampoo my scalp felt clean and light. That feeling was all I needed, but then she flat ironed my hair and it had so much body and natural shine. I've never seen my hair shine bright without adding oil. I was hooked, but the cherry on top was how much my husband complimented my hair when I came home. Sistas beware!! I will try to make this as short and succinct as possible. Making a hair appointment should be stress free, quick and easy. Not the case with Toni. She will inundate with questions about making a hair appointment. She prefers to email instead of a quick phone call or better yet, an online booking system to make an appointment. The universe had my back this time. I inadvertently scheduled an appointment with Toni for the wrong day. I promptly show up for my appointment on the wrong day and Toni told me that my appointment was for the following week. Being that I had a hair emergency, as I needed my hair done "yesterday". I had to cancel my appointment for the following week (7 full days for her to book another appointment). In good faith I gave her a deposit of $35 to secure an appointment, which I totally understand although it's annoying. Toni refused to give me a refund and sent me pages of emails explaining "no refunds", although NO services have been rendered. She had ample time to book another appointment for some unsuspecting fool. Even after booking an appointment, I received a text message late at night confirming and letting me know that she only accepts CASH, presumably as a method of tax evasion and being cheap. Those 3% merchant fees can add up and who cares about inconveniencing the customer anyway. 2 days pass after my appointment mix up and I realize that I have not received a refund of $35. I thought surely it had slipped her mind. Apparently it was non refundable, which is totally malicious, greedy, unethical and pathetic. What does a smart and savvy woman do? I disputed it with PayPal and they happened to see things my way and refunded me, even though Toni went to lengthy measures to fight me over it. How petty and sad! Ladies, be choosy with whom you give your money to. I'm so tired of these lame business practices and shady hairdressers who will double/triple book and sit you under dryer until next week. I don't have the time or the patience. And my time and money is valuable. Mind you, the business is not even in a proper salon but in her home. B#@$% Please! It's not the money, it's the principle of the matter. Ladies, you deserve better. read more

I went home after my first time here and I asked my boyfriend what he thought. He told me to fire my old beautician and only go to healthy hair.
