Fun spot that sells Japanese cosmetics, skin care and other local brands right in the heart of Koreatown. As you can expect the items are going to be more expensive than if you got them in Japan but for the convenience it's great. There are even gatchapon machines in an area of the store. I love going to Tokyo and this brought me back to Don Qxuiote (which may be good or bad depending if you like that type of merchandising). There is a paid parking lot in the plaza or street parking as well but watch for signs! read more

Cute small store for Korean beauty products and a few home goods and a Bandai Namco gachapon section in the store too. A fun mix, and I enjoyed browsing. There's only a few aisles, so it's a very quick stop to drop by at. Prices seemed reasonable for imported goods. I love the selection of Asian sunscreens and my friends also bought a few sundries in the store. Adorable! Lots of cutesy, home and beauty supplies here Korean style. What entices me the most is the packaging of most items - they have a cute face on them making me feel like a kid all over again. However, the merchandise is a bit pricey so be picky if you're on a budget. And do your research if you're looking for that perfect Korean supply. Staff is helpful as I picked out a skin cream and am satisfied with it. Also purchased were cookies and candies which you can't go wrong with. A perfect novelty shop if you shop outside K-town. A pretty solid place to get skincare in Ktown! if you're near Chapman Plaza, I definitely recommend checking it out. They had all the popular brands that many of my friends and influencers use. Shibuyala has a decent selection of cosmetic products, but unfortunately, I found the prices to be significantly overpriced compared to other stores in the area. While the variety is nice, it's hard to justify spending more when there are other spots that offer better value. Parking was also a hassle--unless you want to pay $20 for parking, it's not very convenient. I went with a group of friends, and only one of us ended up buying something. It's a good place for browsing, and the plaza it's in is super cute, but I'd recommend shopping elsewhere for a better deal. read more

I stumbled upon this gem when I was trying to kill time for dinner, and boy am I glad I did! They've got all the popular and well known Korean skincare brands you can dream of and they're stocked up! The employees are soooo helpful and honest about products! The mediheal tinder pads were out of stock when I visited but luckily Audrey took my name and number down and called me as soon as they came back in stock! Went here for my parents bday since we were visiting LA, Not going to lie it is a cute place with cool products but there is this one particular worker by the name of NICKIE that is racist. Not sure if she is someone who peaked in high school who became a bitter adult in life stalking black & brown patrons but she was nonetheless annoying. She followed me and my sister throughout the whole store and stared us down but didn't do that to the Asian or White shoppers. It wasn't until we bought a lot of stuff her attitude all of a sudden just disappeared and changed. After looking at all the Yelp comments it seems like other minorities have stated the same about the mistreatment of this place. I have been here a couple of times since I like browsing the products after getting food nearby. I've read the other reviews and found it confusing since I have come in with my mother who speaks little English and is Hispanic and she has always gotten her questions answered with patience and loves going. We have never experienced any profiling or rudeness, perhaps we have just had the luck of not encountering the employees who have done that or they have gotten retrained. Anyways, it's a great spot. 2 Hispanic Adults and 1 Hispanic Child Racially Profiled on 12/30/2022 Context: I came with my younger siblings to check out this Asian Beauty Store to purchase an eyeshadow palette I wanted. This was my second time checking this store, and it wasn't the first time we felt racially profiled. First time - my brother felt very uncomfortable when looking at the products and they were following him around the store. We chose to ignore it. Maybe it was our "imagination." Today - my siblings and I felt racially profiled by a certain female employee. NOT the one who had cool pins nor the one who had a cat beanie - It was the only other female employee who had short black hair (her hair was down). She followed my youngest sister around the store and kept looking at our direction when we were looking at the Korean makeup section. My sister who is a minor, felt paranoid at first thinking it was her imagination too but it wasn't. My brother felt the same. I purchase my eyeshadow palette (at this point I still hadn't heard what my siblings felt) and left the store After my siblings explained how they felt, we decided to come back because we (I) couldn't let it go. We talked to the employee who had cool pins and reassured her that it wasn't her that made us feel uncomfortable but a certain other employee did (she was standing right next to the nice employee at the time). I asked when her manager would be in store and she said on New Years Day. I will give them a call to explain the situation and to make sure their employees don't discriminate another valued customer again. It is so terribly wrong to make someone feel like they are doing something bad. PLEASE DO BETTER (even though management wont read this). Please be aware when buying here. read more

So I've been coming here over the years and my most recent visit the employees were way less intrusive. Didn't hover or bother me too much, checked in only once while I was browsing. Also the prices aren't too bad (depending on the item ofc). Some of the stuff is the same price as you would get in Japan or just a couple dollars more so I genuinely do buy here over online sometimes. Wish they had a larger selection and more testers for makeup but I understand it's a small store, though I think they're doing too much with also offering snacks when it's already such a tiny space. It would be nice to get some more popular Japanese drugstore makeup. They're one of the only places locally that offers certain Japanese lines esp as kbeauty has blown up and become more popular the Japanese brands get overlooked and often are not stocked in other places. But I can get my favorite face cream from here for about the same price as online. Unfortunately all of the little Tokyo cosmetics stores have been converted to novelty shops so this is the only local option. I was astonished to see none of them carry cosmetics anymore. Most of it is beauty/cosmetic goods but they also have snacks, blind boxes, and cute merchandise like Hello Kitty. Their beauty products are also cute, as they carry special collaborations like the Lovisia Kirby hand creams and Creme Shop x Hello Kitty items. They also have quite a few mens care products like moisturizer, hair wax, and cleansers from brands like biore, Gatsby, and Deuxer. They have a bunch of snacks, many that you won't even find at Nijiya or Marukai/Tokyo Central. They have a good variety of merchandise like plush or hairbands or pillows. Quite amusing how I initially hopped on Yelp to mention that the employees at Shibuyala make you feel super uncomfortable by following you around very closely, and not in a pleasant manner, and that's what's mentioned in all the reviews that aren't just raving that it's super-kawaii. Dear store owner/manager. Perhaps you should retrain the employees to not make us feel so uncomfortable? Sure, they try to help translate products, but I speak Japanese and didn't appreciate being stuck to with one-way conversations about products I'm already knowledgable on. Had they asked first if I needed help, and I said yes, that would be something. They pretty much made us feel pressured, and almost like we were there to steal. What a horribly robotic crew. I was excited to come here for the first time and purchase Korean skin care products that I kept hearing about. As soon as I walked in I was stared at by an employee who was behind the register, she had black hair, round face, and very fair skin. She watched me closely the entire time I was in the store (racially profiling me) and was very short and unfriendly when I had questions about where certain products were. There was another employee who was very nice and helpful, she was short with long colored hair and she was a little more tan in complexion. My friends and I went to Shibuyala a few weeks ago to kill some time while we waited for a table at Quarters. I imagine a huge percentage of its business is from people like us, browsing Japanese beauty products before gorging on Korean BBQ. I love drugstores in Japan and was thrilled to see a faithful replica right here in Koreatown. Shibuyala felt like it was imported whole, with that cute, organized modern Japanese aesthetic. There were tons of products crammed into a pretty small space, but it was easy to explore and navigate. Counter service was quick and polite. I ended up impulse buying a weird black mask to remove blackheads and trying it with my husband that same night. I don't know what exactly it did, but it was fun to layer on and peel off, and I think my nose felt smoother afterward, but who knows. I go to Quarters pretty often, so I'm sure I'll be back at Shibuyala before long. I look forward to my next visit, and predict there will be more mysterious beauty products in my future. read more

Japanese products are always high on my list since everything is likely high quality so when I get the opportunity I go for it LOL. anyways this store had literally everything. Sunscreen, skin care, makeup, body care, random toys and goodies.. what more can you ask for. They also had testers throughout the store for a lot of the skin care stuff and I was very happy to try them all out. Things are all reasonably priced too! So this place definitely has novelty and feels 40% more high end than a Daiso. TLDR: novel but prices on tags do not always reflect what you will be charged, potentially counterfeit products, no refunds, extremely problematic staff. Pros: Gatcha machine section, wide variety of Korean and Japanese skin, beauty, and novelty products, drug store prices ON TAGS, at least one of the staff seems to sort of have some knowledge of the products and their properties. Cons: all the good gotcha machines are/have been sold out (no clue on when they restock but when I went at least 5 were empty), I'm pretty confident the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen serum I bought if counterfeit, 2 of the items I bought were $1-2 more expensive than they were listed for on the shelf (before tax), the two workers that were there were either racist or fatphobic or both, (for context I was the only person my size in the store at the time and I'm half white and half Asian, I could look Hispanic, but also know that mixes are not exactly celebrated by some East Asian cultures) and they kept talking about me in Korean then exasperatingly trying to offer me a basket so I couldn't potentially sneak things out of the store in my fat roles. I'm half joking, but I was only carrying 2 things and they did not offer a basket to anyone else in the store. (They even waited for the Asian girl carrying just as many things next to me to move so they could block the aisle and offer me a basket). One of them even got mad at me for not taking her basket, then when she rung me up she kept questioning what I bought like I just fell out of a coconut tree, wandered in and blindly grabbed stuff. For example: "you know this eyeliner is brown right?"(I have brown hair). When I asked the other one about what the difference between the BOJ sunscreen and serum was, she said the serum is better for anti aging so she really suggests I get that one...when walking into this store I did not expect to be attacked within an inch of my life in this way.
