Everyone there was friendly and welcoming. What I liked most is that it's more of an intimate setting. It's not a huge, crowded gym where you feel lost. The trainers are present and engaged, and it feels like a place you can come in, get your work done, and head out without the chaos. They offer tailored plans based on your goals, and one thing I thought was really cool is that they can even create a custom plan for you to use at home. Working in Oakland and being home just once a month made it difficult for me. Fast forward to 2025 and I retired and added myself, again to her membership. While my fitness goals have changed, I returned to the club and have been using the pool three days a week. With a reconstructed knee and shoulder, this just takes pressure off those joints. I've been happy with my time at the club. It can be daunting to "get in, get out" during the busy periods of the days, when equipment is being used and you are waiting. I've been lucky to get my workouts in quickly in the early afternoon, both in the weight room and in the pool. The one complaint I know my girlfriend carries, is the availability of classes, especially in Paso. Her going to SLO after work made things quick and easy, but the class schedule is hit and miss for her in Paso. She does with there was a bit more consistency. Aside from that I've been happy with the equipment and cleanliness of the facility. The staff has always been attentive and able to answer my questions. Yesterday as I was waiting for Stacey a young lady (another McKenzie) from the the front counter asked me to come to it as we have an issue with some of your appointments. So she proceeded to tell me that my allotment of appointments will have to be reduced as per the paperwork they have. I tried to explain to her my side of the story but she did not want to listen to one word I was saying. She even went as far as to tell me she would be reducing the remaining appointments I have. I asked her if we could discuss this tomorrow when I bring in my paperwork which would show she was wrong. After some further talking I convinced her to this. So when I got home I found my paperwork and called. What was really annoying was when I told her that my paperwork would show that she was wrong she basically told me she would not believe it. She is even the office manager. She sure should learn to to be lot more tactful when dealing with situations like this. She was actually rude to me.
