Healthy food in Langley! Finally! Today I had the shrimp sandwich in a spinach wrap with Swiss cheese & pesto mayo (comes with lettuce, tomato, cuke & pickle) and a bowl of tomato basil soup. Organic ingredients, delicious food & friendly service. With the sandwiches you get your choice of bread or wrap (gf option too for $1 extra), choice of 1 of 3 cheeses & mayo or spread of choice. The shrimp was cooked properly & the wrap was grilled before serving. The soup. Oh boy the soup. Amazing. Organic, non-dairy & GF. Tasted solely of fresh tomatoes & basil. Hearty but not heavy. You'll find fresh juices & smoothies here too. The breakfast menu looks terrific so I'll be back to try that. Did I mention you can get bison burgs here?! I have been to Healthy Monkey three times now. Each time was a different experience. The first time I went, they had just opened at this location. I ordered the BLT & Cheese sandwich, only because I had a craving for a BLT! The sandwich was good but found the coleslaw a bit salty. The second time was earlier this week. I went for the Healthy Burrito with the bison. Got the Tomato Basil Soup as my side. Now that was really good! However, I ended up sending a little more than half my lunch break waiting for the food. The third time was just today. I enjoyed the Tomato Basil soup so much, that's what I ordered along with the Strawberry & Banana smoothie. The prices I find a little expensive. But you are paying for something that is healthy and made to order. I'd come back on the days I didn't bring a lunch and would for sure call in my order to save time. If it wasn't for the wait times that I encountered the first two times, This would have gotten 4 stars from me. And if there were half stars, this would be a 3.5!! read more

I have gone to Healthy Monkey for a long time now and very often. I love the service from Miranda as she is great at accommodating my very strict diet and altering the options for me. I have had breakfast and lunch there often and for years however I haven't been there for a while and now am very disappointed. What I love about this place is that it is healthy and that is hard to find in Langley. When I was there today I notice they have barley anything on the shelves, the menu had a lot of "not available" on it and my sandwich and potato salad was not what I was use to at all. My bread was not toasted, the avocado tasted old and was cut in cubes and the potato salad was so full of black pepper I couldn't eat it. This will be the last time I go for sure. I am sorry, but this place was awful. I had a wrap and a bottled beverage for lunch, the cost was $18.25! The wrap was mediocre at best, and the first bottled beverage was spoiled, and there was not a very good selection on the menu or for beverages. I would never go to this place again. read more

It was very unprofessional of the Healthy Monkey's management, to treat their good clients in that disrespectful way including calling rcmp to remove us from their place for dearing to ask for an explanation and refund for food with changed recipe and ingredients I am allergic to. After talking to the owner, I too was threaten with a law suit in order to keep quiet, however I cannot be quiet knowing what I know now and hopefully this will encourage the management to be more responsible when comes to food allergy. They are obligated to inform any guest, allergic or not, exactly what is in the food especially if changes are made. Paying attention to a customer's allergy requests and following through on the ones the kitchen is able to accommodate (it goes without saying that not all requests are going to be possible to handle, which is fine as long as that's clearly communicated) which was not done. read more

Came in to pick up a quick lunch to go today. Got the tomato basil soup and a Monkey Cafe side salad with Italian dressing. The gal at the till was super friendly and nice but everyone else at the store didn't say a word to me even though I was the only one in there. I almost felt like I was invading work chat. The soup was okay - kinda bland, but on the sweet side, like what you would expect from a squash soup. It could definitely use more spices or salt to even that out. We had an event for 150 people, ranging from babies to seniors and were so grateful that we hired the healthy monkey to cater our family event. We heard nothing but positive feedback from our guests, there was plenty of food (even leftovers) and you could tell they really cared about the quality of food that they produced. read more

I've gone to the Healthy Monkey numerous times. At first, I was impressed. The food was great, employees happy, great service. Over time all of this has dwindled. Long waits and worst of all, inconsistent quality. The second last time the eggs appeared watery. I decided to give it one more try. I was the only one in the place. No happy hello, the young lady plunked my meal down and walked away without saying a single word. My Bison Burger was gross and slippery. It came way to quickly for the patty to have been cooked fresh. It was a weird whitish grey color but it was cooked through somehow. It was uneatable! I left over half on my plate. I left without hearing a thankyou or any acknowledgement. I'm done with them. read more

I love healthy food and I really like this healthy cafe menu! I work by the panorama Surrey location and so I go there lots. The food is always good and fresh and the service is always friendly and helpful. However, this Langley location is different, unfortunately. I've been there about 4-5 times and 3 of those times were disappointing. My last visit, it was 9:15 and the doors were locked. When the worker unlocked and opened the door, I greeted her with a polite 'good morning' And I only get an annoyed look, while walking back to the kitchen. When I ordered, all she did was complained that the cash register wasn't working, the staff didn't set up anything for the morning! The worker, which had short blonde hair and built physique was so rude and seriously put me in a bad mood! Now I served in restaurant and bar industry for 10+ years and never have I encountered a server like this one. So unprofessional! Oh and the food ended up being cold and 'slapped' on. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Langley. Lots of gluten-free options (buns, desserts, soups, wraps, etc.) and fairly quick. My faves are the bison burger on a potato bun (99% gluten free) with potato salad, and their GF brownie (so good!). They have a gluten-free bun, but if you don't have a serious allergy, the potato bun is much better. I'd give it 5 stars but sometimes they close as early as 20 min. before close - making it not as dependable as it should be. Other than that, it's great. read more

Purchased lunch at the Healthy Monkey Cafe today in Langley (on the recommendation of my personal trainer). It was my first visit and the food was great! Had the Mexican chicken bowl over cabbage and carrots. My fault - didn't ask what was in the bowl - I hate mushrooms. Next time, I will substitute extra banana peppers for the mushrooms... This was an email I senT to the Healthy Monkey after my last visit to their cafe... **Hello, I wanted to express my extreme disappointment with your cafe. I am very let down as the Healthy Monkey has been my go to place over the past year. The last time I went there it was apparent you guys had changed your curry quinoa soup recipe, with no notice. Now this evening, after deciding to give you guys another try I order a sandwich on a gluten free kaiser bun and coleslaw for take out. After I was charged for the kaiser bun I was notified you did not have any in stock, I ended up with a gluten free wrap instead. Now that I get it home and open it to eat I realize you guys have also changed the coleslaw recipe too! WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. I come to your facility as I have food allergies and when I order something I want it to be the same as what I normally get, not a new recipe. Your coleslaw which is only now boring purple cabbage, seems it used to be mixed with mayo. Tonight I get it and it is mixed with a ranch dressing or casear of some sort, most probable is it has dairy. I am allergic to garlic and dairy so this change with out notice is unacceptable! Also, the poor young man was working alone too, so my order of three sandwiches with coleslaw took over 20 minutes to get, for sandwiches, this is not ok either and not fair to Justin. I hope you guys will at least reimburse me for my order this evening as what I ordered was clearly not what I had expected. My bill was $33.57 and I came in at 17:08. My number is 604-***-****, I look forward to a manager or owner returning my call. You guys have a very good facility and thing going for you but it wouldn't take much on social media, or word of mouth for this disappointing and unreliable service experience to get around. After I sent this email after my friend, who I also got a sandwich for ended up with chipotle on her sandwich, when I asked for regular mayo and mustard only... So I called and said I was unhappy with my order. The manager said that the old manager threw out their coleslaw recipe and they were forced to make a new one. I asked why they wouldn't put a notice up at least or notify you when you order... I said I wanted a refund, he said he couldn't authorize a refund so he had me call the owner... I called her and explained to her. She was very unprofessional, she called me honey. She then explained to me that their old manager didn't throw out the recipe, the reason it was changed was because they would have run out of their usual recipe and he "homemade" a recipe to make up for it... again, no notice. She also told me to send her my allergy results as proof... When I told her that wasn't acceptable and that I wanted my money back she said she will call the manager and then decide what she felt I deserved back out of $33.00. I said I would go there and wait, she didn't like how mad I was and long story short she told me to FUCK OFF then hung up on me??!! This is the owner of Langley location, who I later found out is the owner of all the franchises! I went back to the location to wait and they called the cops on me because they said they wouldn't give me a refund and if I didn't leave they would call the cops, which they did. Not before the owner text me that she is going to have her lawyers come after me for bad mouthing her and her restaurant. When I spoke to the police they confirmed that giving a review is perfectly ok, and other people should know about this risky experience. All in all, if you go to this specialty place for alternative food BE AWARE that you may not get what you have ordered. The new sauce for the coleslaw ended up having black pepper in in, not garlic, and that is what I am allergic to. This was a bad experience for me, I do not want someone else with a worse allergy to be exposed to this danger and risky eating. Healthy Monkey Café use to be my go to for gluten free buns. For the 4th purchase the buns have gone moldy the next day. I called the owner, Roxanne, wanting to see what the issue is etc.... Her reply... Don't buy them, don't buy anything. I'm not going to refund you, too bad. They're made on Tuesday and frozen. Don't buy them. It's your problem. I was visiting a neighbouring store and saw this place for the first time. It was a hot day so I went in for a smoothie. There was one other customer already sitting down, the girl at the till was busy it seemed as she had me wait a few minutes before even taking my order. Asked for a specific type of smoothie and I wanted to add a banana - they were all out. So I asked to add flax to my smoothie. I paid for the flax (extra $1.00) and sat down. 15 minutes later (as she was cooking a meal for the other customer seated) I finally saw her making my smoothie. I did not see her add any flax nor did it seem like it was in my smoothie. Pretty disappointed in the service, but I would go back to try some food items as I love the healthy options. I've been here three or four times. The first time was great. They have a great menu with lots of healthy options. The second time I went I ordered a sandwich that was grilled. I found some dead lettuce in there so opened up the sandwich and there was some really nasty, slimy lettuce which I couldn't eat and picked out. Many would have taken the sandwich back, but I've cooked in restaurants for years in the past and I know things happen sometimes. However when I spoke to the manager I was told that it was simply "cooked" lettuce, and they just opened the bag and could "guarantee" its freshness. I've cooked and eaten a lot of lettuce over the years, and I know the difference between heated lettuce and dead lettuce. I was polite, but still they argued. I've been around the block too many times to argue with some 19 year old about food quality. I would have still been ok if they'd explained their position and apologized, but they couldn't even do that. I went back once more and had to wait a really long time, and my sandwich order (which I took to go) was wrong. This is pretty close to my work so I'm disappointed. I'd eat there way more often if they had management that was interested in their customers. Customer service definitely needs work, but the restaurant concept is solid. read more

My husband and I went to the healthy monkey yesterday for lunch.i had the healthy burrito with lentil soup and my husband had a bison burger with tomato basil soup.my burrito was average at best.the lentil soup was small and Luke warm and in my opinion bland.my husband's tomato basil soup tasted like pasta sauce and was the consistency of pasta sauce and the burger was nothing special.we were not impressed.and they have no juicer and are not planning to get one even though they have fresh pressed juice on the menu. read more

I was excited to find a healthy place to grab a bite to eat in Langley. I went in for fresh pressed juice, however they do not have a juicer and do not offer fresh juices, even though they have it listed on their menu. I ordered the chicken Mediterranean wrap and it was average - nothing special. The chicken did not taste very fresh. I saw lots of reviews of the soup and decided to have it as my side. It was bland, tasted more like warm salsa and did not look like any of the photos in other reviews (mine was darker and a thinner consistency). While my experience wasn't the greatest, I will probably go back and give it another try. read more

I was so excited to eat here, I've heard so many good things about it. However my first experience here was terrible. I asked the girls behind the counter their recommendations on food and they told they did't know what was good or what to eat, which is bad customer service to begin with. So we ordered our food and I got the soup with quinoa and it was really cold and disappointing. My friends and I ordered the same sandwich both on sourdough and when the girls brought it out mine was made with the end pieces of toast. I've never meet anyone who enjoys the end slices of bread and it showed me laziness and that the restaurant didn't care about the quality of my food. When I asked the girls why my sandwich was different I was given distinct attitude and they girls went behind the counter and began whispering and giving me and my friends dirty looks. Also we ordered our sandwiches without tomato and one without lettuce and both had tomato and lettuce. It was an extremely unprofessional environment and since we were the only people in the store I expected better service and care. I was very disappointed. read more
