Where to start??? We have 2 bad reviews for 2 separate appointments, you know that saying that says "Try everything 3 times" DO NOT. We will not be back the 3rd time to Belleville Healthy Paws. Our dog was getting sick and we set up an appointment at the Belleville location, Then one evening she took a bad turn while waiting for our appt, we called to try and get her in earlier and they said the Dr. was not interested in staying later and to call the Westland location.. so we went there-- it was a nice office.. and the Vet stayed after hours to see out pet and got her all the meds and everything. so 5 stars for Westland. With that being said, lets circle back to the Belleville location.. The Walls and floor were disgusting but that's Besides the point Our Cat at this point had an ear infection. The one stars on this location do not linger from the truth. So we get there, the guy at the front desk is super rude and incompetent. Moving forward, we waited 38 minutes to be seen past our scheduled time, then once we got into the room we waited another 20-- our cat had some type of yeast infection on the outside of her ear that stunk.. so of course I relayed this information. The Dr. told me that if its external its also internal. so they take her in the back... and then bring her back to me with the syringe of medicine saying they couldn't get it all the way in and ill have to do it when i get home... to then be sent home with the rest of the medicine and a $500 bill... great... Fast forward 2 weeks.. the infection has gotten twice as bad and I call to get her in again.. they let me know that that Dr. is no longest in the office and I will be charged for another exam and more medication for this visit as well. So after arguing with the front desk and management. Needless to say, we wont be returning. Good luck to all if you go to the Belleville location, which sucks! Becuase that location is minutes from us and the westland is about a 1/2 hour. read more

Super rude and incompetent staff. After telling me my appointment was rescheduled...which I didn't do and no one from there informed me of...they took my dog back for bloodwork. I'm honestly questioning whether or not they did anything since I didn't see them do it. Anyway, I was assured his scripts would be sent to pharmacy. Next day, they call to give results and I asked again if the scripts were sent it, was told yes. I call pharmacy hours later and they have nothing. I call office back to as about this. First, the say the scripts were sent. Then they say they gave me the scripts yesterday, which they did not. Then the rude woman on the phone tells me I have to come pick it up in the next 15 minutes because they no longer send scripts to pharmacies! SAY WHAT??? Since when??? This lady then tells me "Stop yelling at me! I'm doing the best I can!" This lady is RUDE and a LIAR! Now, my dog is without his meds because these people can't seem to do their job. And again, this doctor said I could only get additional scripts if he had bloodwork. Inpaidnfor the bloodwork, but I don't know that it was actually done. Then, they screwed me on the scripts needed. I plan to report them to the BBB. And that rude woman at the desk needs to be FIRED! All negative reviews are about how rude she is. read more

Please do not base your trial of this vet based on these reviews... Dr. Steve is the best that I've dealt with in the past 30 years. He has taken care of our dogs so well that my daughters friend just recently took a cat there for a hernia, their cost was better and treated them better than previous vet. read more

I have been going to Dr. Steve's since he opened in Belleville, about 16 years . I love that place and him. The other doctors are all good too. I trust that place and would not go to another. Note: This clinic is affiliated with the one of the same name in Westland- the doctor splits his time between the two locations. I love "Dr. Steve'! He's obviously an animal lover and gave my sick kitty a kiss on the top of his head when I last visited-- awwww! He's careful and calm and I like the way the office is run; I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get into a room to be seen. Prices are about average, easy parking, fairly easy access off I-94. read more

My beloved dog has been going to Healthy Paws for 13 years and I always was impressed with their service, care of my pet and felt the prices were fair. However, when I called to inform them that he had passed away; the receptionist response was " ok, I will note the chart". Nothing more, I was extremely disappointed and will be transferring my other dogs care to another more compassionate vet. read more

I brought my dog in a few days ago to have a nasty ear infection looked at, since covid19 is happening they are still seeing customers but we had to wait in our car and call when we arrived, I called when we pulled up they asked our pets information and what kind of car we drove and eventually they came out and took our dog inside, a few minutes later I got another call from them telling me it was in fact an ear infection and they told me the treatment plan and when we finished talking I did not hang up the phone right away and I heard "I thought black people were supposed to stay inside, hahaha" she was clearly talking to another worker and did not realize I could still hear, as a woman of color I am extremely hurt and disappointed. I took my cat here awhile back for a UTI. My cat is EXTREMELY shy and is afraid of literally everyone except for myself and my S/O. So therefore, I was shocked to see how well my cat took to Dr. Steve. He was very calmed by Dr. Steve, allowing the doctor to pet him and he did not try to hide. I think I even heard some purring! Again, it is so out of character for my cat to behave this way with a stranger. I believe this vet just truly has "a way" with animals. For this reason alone, I will definitely come back to this place. As for the visit, Dr. Steve took his time during our appointment, answered all of our questions, and explained everything he did. I found the prices to be reasonable, and I did not have to wait long at all. I'm so happy to have a found a vet I like so close to my home. read more

Lied to me to get money for tests and treatment my dog didn't need. Told me he had an ear infection, which I knew he didn't, but I paid for the test and medicine because we love our dogs right? I immediately took him to another vet who assured me there was no sign of it. What kind of people do that? read more

I have a very hard to groom doggie. There is actually no other place in Michigan ( and I've tried them all!!) where they could groom him. He is a blind shitzu and is very crabby. Healthy Paws is the only place where the groomer actually could groom him without stressing him. More that that she did a great job! Have been going there ever since and don't want to go to another place. Thank you so much for taking such a good care of my beautiful boy!!! read more

Healthy Paws Medical Center is one of the most fantastic facilities I have been to. Dr. Stephan Mantay is a very experienced, loving and understanding vet. He takes the time to know each animal he cares for and also the owners. This facility is very thorough and experienced with providing the best care possible for your precious animals. They also have doggy daycare and training for your animals if needed, and they provide boarding too. The staff is very professional and caring also. I love Dr. Steve, he is so patient and kind to the animals that come in, and I would never go to any other vet to care for my most precious furkids. I highly recommend taking your pets to Healthy Paws Medical center if you are looking for a personal vet, I know I would not go anywhere else with my babies. read more

My cat had fleas and no one from the vet checked or told me ! I had to find out myself, my cat had been to the vet 2/3 occasions and I've spent over 200$ there and still no one noticed ! Now my house is infected with fleas and I can't get rid of them! I've spent over 100$ trying to get rid of the fleas and they are still in my house !!!! I am absolutely disgusted and I can't believe no one at the vet notice or told me ! Yes would never recommend this vet to anyone ! They don't do their job. HOW DO YOU NOT CHECK FOR FLEAS ON A CAT!!! My kitty had been sick for Months. He had been under his care for a long time. I did everything I could to keep him going.keep him eating vet checks. he had pancreatitis he took Xrays and showed me and we checked his Liver off and on. Then seemed like he was getting dehydrated again and needed his Liver checked again so I knew what to do Where was Dr. Steve when I needed him Rascal had all these pills and medicine and just kept getting worse i am trying to syringe feed him his last days and afraid to stop popping his pills cause I knew the one was for his Liver and finally he kept his teeth Mouth shut wouldnt eat at all and he made a painful sound and died in my arms. I loved him so much. so upset but trying to be strong for the other kitties. read more

I took my new dog to the Belleville location of Healthy Paws to get her heartworm meds, do a regular check-up, get flea preventative, etc. after adopting her, on the recommendation of the foster organization I got her from. I was booked near the end of the day, which I am trying to take into account, but the experience wasn't a positive one. The reception staff were brusque, and spent a lot of time trying to remember how their own systems worked. They immediately (before the vet was involved) sold me on getting "standard baseline" bloodwork done, which I was ok with as it would show up any issues, and be a point of comparison in future. I had told them already that she had been heartworm tested by the previous shelter/foster situation she was in, and was already on preventative, but I needed to buy new stuff. What they didn't tell me until I saw the bill was that the $75 blood test was actually a $40 blood test and a $35 hearworm test, which wasn't necessary and was not explained to me. The vet was very quick with her, didn't really look at much, said nothing about fleas/ticks prevention (which I forgot about in dealing with the blood tests), and didn't really do a general checkup. When I left, they automatically sold me 12 months of heartworm preventative, didn't give me the option to buy 1 pack (six months) which would have been cheaper. Finally, their policy for blood work and other tests is "we only call if it's bad news" which might seem ok, but now I don't get the results of her blood work, and just have to assume since they didn't call she's fine. Basically, customer service isn't great, and as best I can tell, they do their best to charge you more. I feel cheated and tricked, and I don't like the fact that they make it really difficult to find out basic test results......which would seem to be a tactic to keep me coming back. If you can't keep my business by being good, you won't keep it by manipulating me either, or being lazy about making phone calls. When I asked how I could see the results for my own records anyhow, the vet didn't even know if they could email them to me; apparently I either have to make a trip out from Ypsi, or have them fax the results to me (because people have personal faxes these days.....). I took a foster dog there to be spayed. There was a call saying had a problem and had to keep her a while longer and because of that they transferred her to the Ford Rd. location due to hours. When we went to pick her up the receptionist warned us emphatically to get immediate care if she starts to bleed. They brought her out and she said she was "draining a little" and not to worry. I knew better and told the vet that. He then said it was hemorrhaging. That her insides were friable from over breeding before she was rescued. She was taken to an emergency clinic where they saved her. I wouldn't take a pet there to be euthanized. They deserve more respect. read more
