The staff were all amazing and kind. I didn't have a vet or know the area and called several places on a Monday morning and none could get me in but Arbor Pointe squeezed me in that day. They have you call to ensure a room is open which any cat owner can appreciate. I brought my very sick 12 y/o cat in with no idea what was going on. They were so sweet to my boy and to me when I was clearly distraught. Unfortunately his cbc showed severe anemia and he needs a specialist. I asked for meds and fluids to get him by until then and they gave me the quote which was an acceptable price. I was so grateful for the compassion I received from reception, the tech, and the Dr. They were busy but I never felt like they forgot about us -- they even checked in to tell me his bloodwork was taking longer to process due to the anemia. The tech who spent the most time with us was phenomenal--she was so good with my boy and she comforted me as well. I recommend them and plan on using them in the future as well. read more

wouldn't waste my money. my cat was 16 years old and was sick and instead of taking an x-ray to find out he had fluid in his lungs and heart. they blood test supposedly twice and feline leukemia test. they also shamed us into thinking our cat had fleas they said he had flea dirt on him and that could be why he was sick. they then sold us 3 months supply for a dying cat that didn't have fleas in the first place. cost me $600 and they didn't do anything. had to take him to another vet to find out what was wrong with him. Every time I go into this office I'm greeted warmly and they always take wonderful care of my dog. The nurses are gentle and always looking to make my dog more comfortable. Finally got to sit in on the visit to find he'd been working on the wrong leg. I am not usually one to leave reviews of any kind, good or bad. So it is a pretty big deal for me to be doing this now but I feel it is important for pet owners to know before they take their pets to this vet. Over the past year, my chocolate lab, going on 13 years old, began to decline in all the typical ways one would expect a large dog to at this age. His back legs started getting weaker, having a harder time getting up, stopped getting on the bed, etc. so I was seeking a vet who had expertise in treating chronic pain in older dogs, and ultimately one that could provide comfortable end of life care/euthanasia when the time came appropriate. So I came across Dr. Petty, and thought he was a good pick for what I was looking for and his clinic was close to home which was reassuring. I could not have been more wrong. At first, I blew off Dr, Petty's very stand offish demeanor to COVID protocols, and since I had to wait in my car while my dog was seen I am still not sure how he was with my dog overall. Every call and every visit it seemed like he was in a hurry and seemed eager to end the conversation and not too keen on answering questions, providing support, etc. the first couple visits he gave me some pain meds for my dog and sent me along. Which was fine for a while. Then when my dog began to show obvious signs he was declining and likely had something more terminal going on. I've been very realistic in regards care options for my dog, and knew end of life care was imminent at this point. Got some blood work done and sure enough, the results showed my dog was internally bleeding. Dr. Petty recommended further testing and likely surgery or biopsy which could have easily been a fatal procedure for my dog at his age and his condition. I already knew I did not want to pursue anything aggressive given my dog's age and stage of his illness, so I asked Dr Petty if it was a more appropriate time to consider euthanasia. We had several emails back and forth, all of which he refused to even acknowledge that as an option until he finally mentioned it, but in a way that was obviously shaming and gaslighting me telling me "if that's what you want to do for something that might be fixable that's your choice" and ended with "he's in a lot more pain than he's letting on and you're not doing anything, so humane euthanasia is better than nothing" as if there are INHUMANE euthanasias?? He was callous and arrogant and was clear that he had no intention of providing comfort or support in making such a difficult decision. He wanted aggressive tx for my already in the process of dying 13 year old dog. I don't know if it's his arrogance or if it's greed or a mix of both, but this man is NOT compassionate at all. I also found an article he wrote this past summer about his opposition to euthanasia and how he stopped performing them at his clinic and chalked it up as a good "business decision" because "who would be want to take another pet to a clinic a previous pet died at?" Um, well, if that vet did a good job and was humane and compassionate, most would definitely return with other pets because of the good care. So clearly he either is terrible at euthanizing (I did read a couple reviews that eluded to possible botched euthanasias that were quite traumatic and 1 in which a client ended up suing and winning - cannot confirm this but it's in the reviews), or believes he is some kind of god who can fix all animals regardless of their prognosis. Both are alarming. I ended up going to a friend who is a vet and he took 1 look at his blood work and immediately reassured me that the only logical and humane option is to pursue euthanasia. He was utterly appalled at the interactions between myself and Dr. Petty. Unless you have younger, smaller animals, endless funds to spend on countless tests and treatments that may or may not prolong your pets suffering, i'd advise you to stay away from this vet clinic. The staff are friendly enough, but I still never felt like there was any real TLC in the way they treated my very much loved pet . He caused more suffering not only for my dog, but for me having to carry the guilt he pushed on me for making the decision any loving and compassionate human would make for their pet. read more

Dr. Petty and his staff are unprofessional and lack empathy. They fired my dog as a patient IN AN EMAIL because I refused unnecessary extensive testing for my almost 18-year dog at another clinic after a slightly elevated kidney function. Dr. Petty had no problem taking hundreds of dollars from me for the removal of an infected skin tag and deciding that it's unnecessary to send to pathology because she's so old. As paying customers and dog owners, we have every right to make choices on behalf of our pets. Doctor Petty touts that he specializes in the care of senior dogs, but his unprofessionalism and lack of empathy proves otherwise. I'm still waiting for my dog's medical records that I have asked for twice. Also, Dr. Petty is dishonest as well, claims he doesn't do diagnostics in his vet. LIAR! His staff gives unsolicited medical advice, and it doesn't coincide with what Dr. Petty advises. I have never seen a vet in almost 18 years behave this way and I hope I don't ever have this experience again. Dr. Petty and his staff are terrific, so much so that we drive almost an hour to get to Arbor Pointe. His specialty is pain management. For our geriatric dogs, this has given them relief from severe arthritis pain, and a good quality of life, up until the end of their days. To see our 14-year-dog slowly limp into the office, and then, after treatment, trot out, is amazing. Because of his specialty, we also bring our young male dogs to Dr. Petty for neutering. He uses pain management techniques for post-surgery recovery that vets closer to our home don't employ. Plus, Beth at the front desk couldn't be friendlier or more kind. If you want state-of-the-art, compassionate care for your pets, this is really the place to go. read more

We are first time cat adopters and 2nd time cat lovers/parents. We rescued a cat that had been in a hoarders home situation with 28 cats and 10 dogs. Poor little thing, but she was rescued by the Humane Society first and then we adopted her. We got her first needed shots at the pet clinic at the humane society. It is cheaper and she'd just left their care and was well looked after medically etc...so we waited until she needed her next and last shots and too her to see Dr. Petty at this clinic. It is a one Dr. clinic but there is a permanent substitute Dr. who comes and who is learning all of the patients etc. now. I looked up this vet online and they had a couple of good reviews and the website of the clinic, showed the Dr. as having 6 pets. We arrived and the front desk lady couldn't have been nicer. There was a black medium/large dog in a bed behind the desk and there are 2 cats on the countertop. One named "Cosmo" was in a wicker basket with blankets. The front desk lady told me that he is something like 18 years old! The other cat was in a tent on the countertop and her name is "Wendy" and she's like 19 yrs old! Wendy kept on butting my hand to pet her. If I tried to pet Cosmo, she'd butt my hand and step in front for me to pet her instead!! How cute are they?? So we did have to wait quite awhile with our scared kitty in her crate complaining. They said it wasn't usually something people have to do, but" they got slammed that day". I can understand that. They were kind enough to put us into a room with our scared kitty cat in her carrier. So then they weighed her and weighed the carrier by itself later, to get a correct weight. The assistant was as nice and answered all of my questions. The Dr. came in and he was patient and handled my kitty in a humane & patient manner. He spoke softly to her and she barely knew she was getting her shots. He even let her stay in her soft nylon carrier ,where she felt safer, for as long as she wanted to stay. She suddenly wanted out, so then he let her out and she wanted to sniff around and explore and he let her while he spoke to us. He said she will need her teeth cleaned for $163.00. They offered us "Revolution" flea and heartworm meds for $90.00 etc. But Luna is a total indoor cat and will never be outdoors. I think we'll wait a bit and see. We'll research the teeth cleaning and probably have that done this Summer. This Dr. doesn't do any cosmetic surgery to an animal for his owners pleasure. He won't declaw a cat and he won't crop ears or tails of any dogs just human vanity. The other thing is that they wont ever kill/euthanize a healthy cat for any reason whatsoever. They'll help you adopt it out or take it to the shelter, but they won't kill it. This I liked as well. I now must tell you one bad thing and the reason that I gave them 4 stars but with a very nice review actually. It is because they told us to bring a fecal sample from Luna, the next day. My husband dropped it off and ended up just going ahead and paying $39.00 for a POOP TEST!! I was pretty upset about it when I researched online and it says that a "fecal parasite test on a cat should be between $15-$20 and at the MOST $25!! THEY CHARGED US DOUBLE THAT PLUS ANOTHER $9!!! THIS IS LUDICROUS AND I don't think it was right for them not to tell us ahead of time how much it was going to cost. I would NOT have sent it in as I am having to wait until September to get a crown on my own tooth, let alone paying "highway robbery" to get my cats poop tested. I'm sorry but this is just terrible. I'm also mad at my husband for just whipping out a credit card and not letting me know right away. I would've gone in and taken it back. I found out a few days later and after researching, I called the office and they wouldn't do anything about it, as it was done already. I'm mad at myself for not doing this errand on my own. But I thought people should know this also going into it ahead of time so they don feel like I do. I'm not a happy camper, but I still gave a good review. read more

I can't ever see myself taking my animals to anyone other than Arbor Pointe. This vet has earned my trust through the level of care and concern they have - not just for my pets but for the well being and humane consideration of all animals. Beth at the front desk is probably the friendliest person you'll ever meet and has unknowingly made me feel at ease more than once with her compassion and love for animals. Dr. Petty is a champion for pain management and will never let an animal get a painful procedure without making sure they are comfortable when they return home. We have had three animal emergencies (1 dog, 1 cat, and a family members dog) that we have turned over to their expertise and every time without fail they delivered beyond expectations. They are transparent about cost and prognosis, and once they even let me pay half and come back a few days later to pay the balance just so my pet didn't have to wait for the help he needed to feel better ASAP. All friends and family are sent here by recommendation and anyone reading this should just stop searching and pick up the phone to make an appointment. read more

It took me a long time to get around to writing this review. I took my dog to this vet several times. The last time I went to this vet was to get my dog put to sleep. The vet actually complained that I malnourished my dog. My dog was already 15.5 years old. And this vet has seen the dog prior several times, but chooses to reprimand me that the dog is not in good health when I brought the dog in while in the throes of death. That's real compassion right??? Then I brought my other dog to this vet after another local vet didn't give me good advice. I took my sick dog back to this vet 5 times in 2 weeks! My dog was just not doing well and was suffering. The vet finally suggested blood work. That night my dog was doing so horribly, I had to make the hard decision to get her put down the next day. When I took her back to this vet, he said the blood work came in. He said the dog had pancreatitis. He YELLED at me "Nothing by mouth when a dog has pancreatitis!!!" Though this didn't occur to him the 2 weeks prior when he had no problem selling me the special canned food to feed her. And then to tell me to feed her other bland foods. Then to tell me to give her children's liquid tylenol. As they put my dog to sleep, they made me move rooms because they needed the room I was in so they could do some other procedure. Thanks again on the compassion and understanding as I me and my dog are suffering. You needed your room so that you could make an extra few bucks. This is really the most incompetent vet I've ever encountered in my 20 years of owning dogs and other pets. I would not recommend this vet if he was free. His prices are high as well. Save your money and go find someone who cares about your pet. Not just sell you bogus services. Your pet will die because of this vet. read more

I've been taking my pets to Dr Petty for 15 years now. As my dogs have aged, he's been instrumental in keeping them as healthy and happy. They have always loved going for their visits, getting pets and treats from the staff. When issues arise for my dogs, Dr Petty takes the time to fully examine each possibility for cause and treatment, considering all factors myself and my dogs. I also always feel informed on preventative care measures and options. I regularly refer my training clients to Dr Petty for pain management, especially in conjunction with behavior modification plans. read more

We have a new puppy and I called on a Saturday just before they closed for the day with some questions. Much to my surprise, the Vet himself answered the phone and answered all my questions with such patience and knowledge. I had to take our dog in on Monday as he was not feeling well and as a first time dog owner I was very impressed that they did a wonderful job educating me in a kind (not condescending) manner. Our dog was on the mend quickly and we couldn't be happier at the level of service, professionalism and care the entire staff demonstrated. Having had pets my whole life as well as having interacted with many veterinarian clinics, this clinic gets the highest rating. One off my dogs all of a sudden on Saturday around noon started crying out in pain ( and would not stop) for no apparent reason that I could detect. In a panic I called and they said to come right then, they would wait for me. My little 10 year old yorkie had severe pain in her neck due to a pinched nerve and likely onset of arthritis in her neck. Here is why I gave them 5 starts; not only is Dr. Petty nationally known for his pain treatment, he also does acupuncture and other special treatments that I never seen by any of the other veterinarians I went to before. Tia had a series of acupuncture treatments and is doing great, The fact - specially with my two little girls getting of age - that they have a multitude of treatment options besides giving a pain pill is very important to me. On top of that the staff is very caring. This clinic will always be my first and only choice to take care of my animals. read more

I started seeing Dr. Petty with my Westie who has severe pain issues. I drive from Troy, MI to Canton for acupuncture every 3 weeks or when he starts to show pain. Dr. Petty treats him and I see huge results. I believe I would have had to put him to sleep had we not found Dr. Petty. Jake loves to go because he gets a Frosty Paws while he is being treated. He is so excited when he sees where he is. Dr. Petty has also treated some of my foster dogs who seemed to be having pain issues and always successfully. After taking my aging dog with painful advanced arthritis to three different vets in a one month period, I decided to call Dr. Petty's office on the recommendation of a friend. My dog's symptoms, which started one random night and continued for over a month, were nighttime panting/shaking and pawing at my bet to wake me along with daytime anxiety exhibited by constantly following me from room to room. She had never behaved like this ever before in the 7+ yrs that I have had her so I was very concerned. She is about 8-10 yrs old though unknown since she was a stray. The first 3 vets had a variety of ideas: deafness, cognitive decline, reaction to WiFi/blue tooth devices in my home and wild animals coming near the house at night. Hmm... NO! My dog has a known history of arthritis in back legs/hips so my gut was telling me it was pain causing her to behave like this. X-rays taken by the 3rd vet showed extremely advanced spinal arthritis (which I was not aware of) and she changed her opinion to extreme pain being the cause of her symptoms. She referred me to a local hospice vet, which I greatly appreciated and feared that the end may be near, however, this vet wanted to charge $460 for first visit and $300 per session for acupuncture if needed and extra for any other meds and/or supplements she may need to prescribe. That was simply not financially possible for me. After a friend recommended Dr. Petty in Canton I called and they got me in within 2 days! Dr. Petty had already prepared for the visit by reviewing her x-rays and previous medical history which was quite extensive. He prescribed 2 additional meds and confirmed that they would work well together with her current pain meds. He said acupuncture works best for her type of advanced arthritis. I was doubtful but because nothing else had worked I agreed to try it since I had no other options. After 3 sessions (1/week), I am thrilled to say she is running around play-bowing to the cat to get her to play and sleeping peacefully throughout the night now! She is also back to loving her two walks/day and is my normal happy dog. Absolutely amazing!! I also really like that Dr. Petty's acupuncture plan is to taper it off to only an as-needed basis so this will not be a never-ending financial drain. (his acupuncture right now is $76/session) We are now able to decrease to every 2 weeks and then longer in between depending on how she is doing. We just love coming to this place. While yes we are aware that it's usually expensive the front desk lady is the best we just love her. She is great at what she does and she loves her job. Everyone should have someone like her at the front of their business. We took our puppy to get the last round of shots and she got hives and started to swell in the face so we took her back right away and they took her from us, gave her some meds and held her there for a few hours just to make she that she was ok. After they gave us a call and said that we could come pick her up. When we got there we asked how much we owed them and they said nothing it was on them. Just LOVE them!!!! read more
