After a terrible experience at Barking Dogs, I thought I would give this store a try. When I opened the door, I thought I hope they just acknowledge me. They sure did! Pretty pricey. Small store compared to PetSmart or PetCo, but the staff was helpful and attentive. They're great with my a great a Dane Hulk. The best recommendation I can give is I trust them. I can bring bedding and toys from home. Many places don't allow this and it's more comfortable for him. just now NEW I'm so upset about today's interaction with John, one of the owners! I have been a loyal customer for 13 years, the lifetime of my dog, Sophia. I have spent over $200/month for 13 years! Do the math. I always found co-owner Mike to be very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. Staff are great. My complaint is with John. On two occasions, he has given me a very hard time about unopened food returns, which the store boasts a no-nonsense return policy. John nitpicks through my past purchases and refuses to honor a return. Two times this has happened to me. I will not spend another penny there!! I'm so angry about his lack of respect!! I've been going to Healthy Tails for nearly 14 years, since my golden retrievers were puppies. There hasn't been anything Mike or John have not been willing to help with or give opinions about. I really appreciate them and their willingness to help as my dogs have aged and experienced all different kinds of things. From changing appetites, to injuries, infections, surgeries they have been with us through it all. Having a great experienced person in your corner is worth its weight in gold. They really care about animals and you can feel it when you are there. The level of service is bar none the best. And their guidance has help me and my pets tremendously, not just in saving a ton in vet bills, but also in their over all health. Most of the goldens my dogs have grown up around have long passed on and both of mine still act like puppies, just a little slower and with a couple more naps throughout the day. She helped us find the best chew toys for our teething puppies & hooked us up with some awesome little treats. Even more important, they do not carry any products that would ever cause harm to your puppies (raw hide, corn meal, soy, wheat). As my fur baby got older, she developed GI & liver problems. (She's 14 yo now). We had always fed her good, quality dog food in hopes of avoiding these issues...yet here we are. Old age isn't kind to anyone :/ Years ago, a holistic vet suggested we cook for her and gave us recipes that included vegetables, meats, & vitamins. Going this route was very time consuming (but we did it) and it was hard to bring these fresh foods along on road trips. A neighbor & fellow pet lover suggested going to Healthy Tails and trying some of their freeze-dried, human-grade pet foods. We would just need to add warm water to rehydrate - which would make it easy to bring on road trips. I read the ingredients and found them to be similar to what we were feeding her already. The awesome staff at Healthy Tails allowed us to try several different flavors (for free!) until we found her favorites. We've gone nowhere else since discovering Healthy Tails. We've been very happy with the selection of dog foods, snacks, toys, harnesses, leashes...everything we need to make our fur baby happy. She LOVES coming here. Unfortunately two days ago when I was visiting the store to claim my frequent buyer program for Orijen, I was told the manufacturer no longer offers the buy 12 get one free. To verify, I called the manufacturer, Champion Petfood and they ensured me that Happy Tails is their contracted retail shop in LV and they participate the frequent buyer program. Team member apologized, clarifying that they're only able to do so if they have a vet on-site, which they do not. The store, though bright, welcoming, and stuffed full of product, seems to cater almost exclusively to dogs- minimal cat items available. Will send my canine-loving friends here, but unfortunately they don't stock what I need. Store selection is big despite the small space. Location is a bit hidden, you might miss it next door to the pizzeria. I will note that all the parking lots on that corner of the intersection connect, so it's easy to wind your way back to if needed. read more

I found this place after I started buying organic dog food for my Shih Tzu, Marley. It's a little pet store that has a lot to offer. The place is immaculate, the customer service is top-notch, and they have Hershey kisses at the register for the humans--what more can you want?
