I originally came in to pick up a safety lock for my friend's firearms cabinet , and while I took a firearms course years ago where safety was emphasized, ammo was never really explained in detail. I had no idea there were different ways ammunition could be considered "dangerous" that part was definitely eye-opening. After learning what I did, I truly hope I'm never in a position where I'd need to defend myself. But I'm grateful for the education. The people there are very competent when it comes to firearms: they know their stuff... and they're great to work with. Do I purchase a certain firearm because I qualify for a veteran discount, or do I use my GSSF life membership (being a NRA certified pistol instructor)? They helped me answer that question... and their's was the right answer. They know what ammunition they have in stock, and when they only had ONE box of what I wanted, they made a suggestion about what ammo I might want to try that was at least equal to what I was looking for. I also wanted to purchase ammunition for a suppressed pistol, and learned that they didn't have any. Not in stock, or they don't carry that? They suggested that I might purchase a much heavier round that would be the slowest... not subsonic, but it might do the trick. I decided to wait for subsonic ammo. Great selection of firearms and suppressors. If you're experienced and thinking about trading up, ask for their recommendations. If you're new to shooting, tell them about your experience level (hey, we all are new to shooting starting out!) and talk things over with them. They have never put someone down because they knew or just inexperienced that I've seen. They are nice people and easy to work with... and they were very nice to my girlfriend's puppy, too. Healy's Guns Review I visited Healy's Guns with my mom and brother after a sushi lunch, and it started out as a fantastic experience. My brother found exactly what he was looking for and decided to purchase a gun for himself and another as a gift for me. I mentioned that while I've lived in Arizona for a year, I had only recently received my AZ license and would come back with it to finalize my purchase. That's when things took a turn. A third salesman, Nick, abruptly stepped in and decided my brother couldn't make his purchase either. Without much explanation, he grabbed the gun off the counter and stormed into the back, leaving us confused and uncomfortable. The atmosphere became tense and awkward. After a lot of back and forth, my brother was finally able to complete his purchase, and I later returned with my ID to get mine. Thankfully, the owner was amazing and handled things professionally, but Nick's behavior was unacceptable. His actions and attitude turned what should have been a fun and exciting experience into a sour one. To make matters worse, while I was being helped, I could hear Nick and others in the back laughing and having a good time, seemingly without any regard for how disrespectful the situation had been. The shop has potential, and the owner's professionalism is worth noting, but the experience was marred by one employee's out-of-line behavior. Hadn't been there in a while, went in the other day. Didn't recognize anyone, used to be friendly neighbor like vibe. Now it's like every other gun shop, staffed by kids who know a little about guns and think their experts. Manager is probably an ex-cop as he has an immediate aggressive attitude. Google didn't like my review, But I know Yelp doesn't mind. Great staff, people who love guns, and know about them. This review though will have good and bad points to it. The Good: One of the new salesman, an older gun, is very kind and knowledgeable. Alex, who I believe is a manager is very composed and helpful, even in unideal situations. The shop is clean and well organized. The prices are good. I like coming here to browse the new inventory. The Bad: Had to, unfortunately, cancel something that I had hoped to purchase, reasons being reasons. When I came to remove the hold from the item, I was told about a re-stocking fee of $150, but for me just $50. First I'd heard of it, and I don't like surprises. When the manager asks the Store Owner about letting the fee go, he loudly says "I'm not gonna argue with someone over 50 FUCKIN dollars" for everybody in the place to hear. Not what I would expect from someone who owns a business to say inside his own business, but to each their own friend. Attached are screenshots of the "store policy" from the time of my cancellation. Last week I walked into my favorite neighborhood gun store and was pleasantly surprised to finally see .38 special back in stock. Without doing any research, I bought 4 boxes of Tulammo, the Russian stuff with the steel casings. After getting home, I find bad reviews all over the place on the internet about how these casings expand after being fired and get jammed up in the cylinder. Today I went back hoping to exchange this ammo for some better quality brand. I was asked for my receipt, waited for a few minutes, then handed my receipt back and was told "all ammo sales are final." You always hear the lecture about how important it is to shop local. You may pay a little more but you get that extra special level of service that only a fellow community member can provide. Certainly not the case with Healy's. After 4 years of being a regular customer, purchasing firearms and ammo, nothing. If you shop at Healy's expecting any kind of personal touch, forget it. You're much better off buying from the big box stores or online. If you're going to be treated as a nameless, faceless nobody, you may as well not pay extra for it. read more

Fantastic experience for my first time coming to the store! I randomly placed a call the day before looking for a specific gun. They did not have it in the configuration I wanted, but made a suggestion that was a big upgrade that was even better. They bundled it all up so it wasn't an "upsell." It was such a good deal that I ended up buying $250 in other things in their well-stocked shop. Healy's is a full-service shop with very knowledgable staff that answered all of my questions, and can help with the purchase and registering of suppressors, too. Most of staff is pretty knowledgeable in the background somebody was haggling price and the manager was fair and direct. Type of store I like to shop in. I have bought firearms before but Healy's definitely gets props for how they handled the current surge on firearms and ammo. Tons of people, mostly new buyers that don't have a clue about anything, and they were quick and did their best to get to everyone in a timely fashion. Luckily I knew what I wanted and knew how to fill out the forms so I could get in and out. The bad, just the time it takes to complete the background as NICS is flooded with new buys. The only thing I could complain about was the mark up on ammo, especially 223 as there was like a 200% markup. Totally understand tho, supply and demand. He's able to get an idea of what you might be looking for as a first time gun owner or someone with a lot of experience looking for something new. I used to love going to Healys and recommended them to a lot of people. The owners always took care of me up until the pandemic hit. They've completely given in to the gun craze hype. Ammo is super expensive and they bumped up their FFL fees to $55. Ridiculous. The staff that helped me were not attentive and were rude. I will not be returning. read more

Dear Yelp: I need a 10-star review option, stat! The only reason Healy is getting 5 stars is because there's no way to give them 10. If you're into firearms, let me save you the trouble and say there's no reason for you to go anywhere else. With my CCW safely in hand and having recently shot several handguns to test them out, I was on a mission to find and buy The One. You know, The One that -- no matter how many guns you shoot -- you always go back to the rental counter and say, "Um, I'd like to try That One again." For me, The One that fit perfectly in my hand, felt like an extension of my arm, and put the rounds where I intended them to go was the Springfield Armory XDm 9mm. I'd received gun shop recommendations from others but I didn't get quite a good vibe on them. So, once again the Yelp app saved the day and I found Healy in Mesa. I grew up in the south, so of course I shot guns occasionally as a kid...but let's face it, it had been a while. A LONG while. Being basically new to all this, you run into "those guys" at the gun shops...and shooting ranges...and gun shows. They tend to be full of guys who can spot a newbie from 100 yards and totally ignore her even faster. Not so at Healy. Once you walk in the store, the left and right walls hold rifles and the middle appears to hold ammo, cleaning supplies, and other accessories. The pistol cabinet is in the rear of the store. I looked there for the XDm but didn't see one right away; Rick behind the counter looked on the computer and, lo and behold -- they had one in the back! After disappearing for a minute he came back through the door with the XDm box in hand. He did not mind my endless newbie questions one bit. He spent time showing me everything in the box, explained what all the pieces were for, and even showed me how to dismantle it for cleaning. I was also interested in a biometric safe which he showed me as well. The price of the XDm was in line with what I'd seen online. The cleaning kit cost was very nominal, not to mention it'll last you a while. The ammo price was AMAZING. I cannot BELIEVE what I've been paying for it at gun ranges!!! Again, if you're into guns, either experienced or newbie, please take my advice and visit Healy. The guys who work there can easily talk shop with you if you're a seasoned gun-toter (I heard them do it!) and they also are just as respectful and engaging with total newbs. I am SO GLAD I found Healy to buy my first gun, and highly recommend them for your Second Amendment needs! Ask for Rick -- he's awesome! Mark was very nice also! Well I think that after quite a few visits here it's time I left a review. I first went to check out Healy arms because I was fed up of being ignored and talked down to by gun shop employees....... Just because I don't dress like a storm trooper doesn't make me an amateur nor does it mean I'm a novice, I'm not. Anyway I walked in to Healy with my wife (also well versed in weaponry) and spoke to Mark about getting an EDC, I told him what I was looking at which was the Ruger SR40C, he gave me a few others to look at which I really liked and he pushed the M&P shield 40 because he likes the single stack for a carry, but as I have shovel hands I felt I was crowding which for me might be a problem. All the while he had my wife looking at some sig's. In the end I still wanted the Ruger and he special ordered it for me. Every Time I go in I'm always greeted with a smile and the highest level of customer service. The prices are great and the ammo selections although not vast are just perfect for what you could possibly need (meaning all their selections are of good, tried and tested ammo) I've called up several times to special order items such as holsters and trijicon sights. Interestingly enough I was told by other sources that the trijicons were on a 6 week back up and yet mark and his team managed to get and install them within a week!!!! Pricing of guns...... I saw a review stating that the guns are more expensive and yet I never had this problem, all the guns I looked at were very well priced. HOWEVER what I'd say to a potential buyer is this, when I bought from Healy I felt like I was buying much more than a gun, I was buying great and continuing service. What I mean by this is that once you've left the shop they are more than happy to help and assist you after the buying process. I can't recommend these guys enough. Ordered two magazines and was told to allow one week for delivery. Later that day, I decided to order from somewhere else. I called to cancel, but was told the manager would have to follow up with me. The next day, I called again, since I never heard back. I was told they would find my order and cancel. After asking if I should call back to follow up, I was told, "Yes, because sometimes these things get forgotten." I called a third time, and was again told I would receive a return call after the business closed for the day. Still nothing. After weeks of waiting and never even being contacted to pick up the product, I disputed the charge with my bank and received my money back. read more

HEALY was the very first gun store I've stepped inside of since I moved to Arizona, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Unlike at a certain understaffed outdoors store chain in California, HEALY had more than enough employees to assist every customer in the store, myself included. Having always wanted to purchase a sound suppressor, I called ahead to confirm that my can of choice was available, and the associate on the phone was friendly and gave me helpful info on the basics of the process. +1 right there. Then, upon actually going through the purchase, Tim guided me on how to use the really intuitive kiosk that takes fingerprints and electronically uploads information to the government. Throughout the process, he was patient yet expedient, and gave me plenty of information on everything. While I waited for him to do his own store-specific paperwork, I got to chatting with some of the other employees, and they were just as helpful and knowledgeable about their inventory and any questions I had. And to put the icing on the cake, Tim offered to allow me to pay only half of the total cost upfront, and the other half once my application was approved by the government, since it could take many months (big backlog). If you ask me, having such a payment option with no fees or credit check is plain *awesome*. I will certainly be returning to HEALY for any of my future firearms purchases, and recommend anyone else within a reasonable distance to make the trip, you won't regret it! read more

First of all, a firearms dealer with a 5-star average rating? I had a seriously hard time believing it--but I told myself if Healy lives up to the hype, I've got my loyalty set on this business. I knew what gun and setup I wanted, so I reached out to Mark (and several other local dealers). The reason I went with Healy was: 1. He responded quickly and kindly 2. The response was well put, informative, and clearly had some care (even for a new, potential customer) 3. Price is very very competitive 4. Mark is knowledgeable, respectful, and easy to get along with 5. The business lives up to the Yelp hype I purchased a FNS-9C with accessories, which had to be special ordered, and--having my experiences with Southern Cali dealers--I expected 2-3 WEEKS before getting my hands on this. Mark quoted 7-10 days, and I thought to myself that it's unlikely; but, several days...not even 7 days...later I get a message that the firearm arrived. The fact that Mark even remembered to send me a message to let me know everything was ready blew my mind. AND when I walked in to pick up the gun, every employee ACKNOWLEDGED me as I walked towards the front. Maybe it's the past subpar experiences I've had in SoCal, but even based on some of the other responses I've got locally here in AZ, Mark really blew other places away. I found this place by accident after going to Valley ACE Hardware in the same strip mall on the southeast corner of Baseline & McClintock. The most recent experience I had there was a few weeks back where I wanted to check out the new 870 Tac-14. My dad and I came into the store and got to compare it side by side to the similar Mossberg. They answered all our questions and were very helpful.
