ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE experience with the Hearing Health Centers. I had to fight to get them to reimburse me the full amount of money they received from billing my insurance company (they had been paid in full before billing my insurance). I did not know the Hearing Health Center still had part of my insurance reimbursement until I received a statement from Blue Cross. Otherwise I would not have known the Hearing Health Center still owed me money. Blue Cross had to intervene on my behalf. All locations under the same owner. read more

Listen to the other bad reviews! Buyer beware. This business charges a $500 restocking fee -- even when the mistake is theirs. I was never informed about this fee, was explicitly told it's a trial with free return during that period, and I was pressured to sign an agreement on the spot without being given time to read or understand it, which is outright illegal. The customer service was the worst I've ever encountered. Dr. Brienne Honan falsely claimed I was told about the fee, even though she wasn't even present when I signed. She appears willing to say whatever is necessary to protect the business, regardless of the truth. I returned to the office over nine times because I still couldn't hear in real-world settings (non-Bluetooth), and they still couldn't fix the issue. So I asked for something covered by my insurance to which they said no - they only want to sell Phonak and oticon. They have no empathy and did not care that I was crying to them that I couldn't hear (wouldn't even offer a tissue from the box on her desk). After spending thousands of dollars and receiving no real support, I can't in good conscience recommend this place. The manipulation, dishonesty, and lack of accountability speak volumes. This place is incredible. My daughter had major wax buildup in her ears and could barely hear. It happened over the holiday weekend, and with nothing open, we went to a convenience care clinic for earwax removal. At best, it didn't help--at worst, it made things worse. I booked an appointment online at Hearing Health Center for Monday at 4 PM, and called as soon as they opened, hoping for something earlier. Andrew at the front desk was amazing and got us in sooner. We saw Dr. Sheri Larks, and she was phenomenal--warm, calm, funny, and incredibly good at explaining everything. She talked my daughter through both the plan and the backup plan, then used gentle techniques to remove the wax. In just 20 minutes, all of it was out safely and effectively. My daughter can hear better now than she has in years. One more thing I appreciated: while we were in the waiting room, I noticed a few patients who seemed to have dementia or confusion--something that's apparently common with hearing issues in older adults. The staff treated them with such patience, respect, and kindness. It really stood out. Bottom line: if you're dealing with earwax, skip the at-home methods and urgent care clinics. Just come here. I bought aids here (foolishly) without checking at other places. The list price I was charged was $7000. I had checked online and saw they could be purchased less expensively online actually. I asked the audiologist why their cost was so high and he told me it covered all supplies, maintenance service, etc for the 3 year warranty period and implied other sources didn't (I learned later Costco does provide the type of service promised to me at a substantially lower price for aids). He also told me they would mail me necessary supplies to me since I spend half the year out of state. That audiologist left the practice shortly after I purchased them and I have to argue with the office every time since that I ask for the wax guards, etc. they always tell me that their warranty does not cover supplies. Then they say they have to check and call me back - sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. It should be automatic based on what I was promised. I'm now airing again for wax guards. BE WARNED AND LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE - I have since learned their price is much higher than other places, service is challenging, and apparently they use deceptive sales practices to justify their high price. I dont have any issues with the hearing aids I bought or the adjustments made at the office. I was told finally by a new audiologist I saw that there really isn't a need for the different programs, etc once the adjustment for the primary program is made since the processing power is so good now that the aids automatically adapt to any environment regardless of the program you select and I've found that to be the case. A more important driver for performance is the types of domes you use ... which can be changed to help in different environment types. Be sure to explore that aspect thoroughly read more

Went to audiologist to repair my aide. I was told microphone was worn down and couldn't be fixed by her. Asked to call manufacturer. She called me and said they no longer repaired my model or sold. Then offered a aide in $1,500. range. Asked her to get back to me. Not buying the whole thing! Went to Hearing Health and great guy Brandon fixed in 10 min. Wax build up. I was stunned. UPDATE 6/1/21: The practice owner, Dr. Fisher, called me shortly after this review posted to hear more about my concerns and offered to modify my hearing aid settings to see if that would help with voice recognition in noisy settings like restaurants. She also told me that my review was a discussion point at their most recent staff meeting, which I took as a positive response to my comments. I went to her office last week, and after our meeting, had a clearer understanding of the rationale behind my experiences. To make a long story short, I felt considerably better and have my returned my rating to five stars. Dr. Fisher's rationale for the concerted focus on new technology is because she considers keeping clients informed of new options [as soon as they become available] to be a professional responsibility, so they don't blithely continue living for years with "good enough" hearing when improvements are possible. That approach makes sense to me, although it requires some finesse to leave the client feeling educated without being pressured. My experience seeing different staff at each visit until recently was only partly because my audiologist went elsewhere. I had seen my audiologist several times in a row, but that was because of the need for fine tuning hearing aids for first-timers. Once you are doing well, other personnel will see you for routine cleaning and to be sure the hearing aids are in good working order. Now that I understand this custom, I'm OK with it. The automated email follow-up program was implemented since my prior visit, and is preprogrammed to give several reminders if you don't write a review. While I found the implementation annoying, not everyone will feel the same. Soliciting feedback from clients is a good thing, and implies a commitment to ongoing practice improvement. Finally, after Dr. Fisher adjusted the settings of my hearing aids, I could immediately make out voices more clearly. In fact, she played an audio file of a very noisy crowd setting while I was there to confirm that I could still hear her clearly, so I'm looking forward to taking my wife to one of our favorite restaurants and being able to chat despite the din! Openly acknowledging critical feedback is one hallmark of professionalism. Turns out, I didn't need to look any further to find an audiology practice that is patient focused. read more

As usual I was treated very professionally by Dr. Hayes, but this was par for the course at this office as this has been the case over the past two and one half years I have been going to this office. Dr. Hayes first cleaned out the wax in my years and then I was given a very through hearing test. Best I have ever had and felt no stone was unturned. Dr. Hayes explained what was best for me and REPEATEDLY asked me if I had any questions. All questions were answered fully and clearly. I just love the customer service I receive at Hearing Health Center. They will come down to your car and pick up and return your hearing aid when you need it checked out for problems. Then once, I dropped my hearing aid off for a quick fix, but it needed to be sent into the manufacturer to be fixed. Because I was going to Europe for a wedding they did a special rush for me to get them back before I left instead of making we wait till I returned. How kind. Third visit, and thoroughly frustrated with their 'service'. Good insurance, but had to pay $5200 before I left the building. They didnt submit the claim until I called them 10d later! Then having to chase them for the refund, including the amount they collected that exceeded the insurance contract. Finally insurance stepped in and got them to refund the full amount. Were both misinformed and incorrect in their communication. Robin the CEO neither knew the contract amount, listened to me relaying this to her or handled in any satisfactory way. Drs great, but NOT worth it. HORRIBLE billing and management. Save yourself and find someone reputable. Reviewed prior visit in 2015 and looks like similar happened. I have been going to the Hearing Health Center for 20 years. I got my first Phonak hearing aids from Dr Fischer when she had a location out in Elmhurst on York Road. I am now going to the downtown location and I have to say it is getting more and more difficult to get good service - mainly because the audiologists are always leaving. Many years ago I had very good "permanent" audiologist I could always go to with Dr. Corey Bugg and than Dr Laura B and another Dr Christina. All of who have left. Every time one leaves I am passed off to an "assistant" who they don't seem to train very well on hearing aid settings and I have to go back and have the settings fixed back to what I had previous because the "fix" applied by the assistants is worse than it was before. This just happened to me again yesterday. Now, I have to wait two days to see an actual audiologist to fix this. They get one more shot and I will have to finally take my business and ears elsewhere because it seems like none of the current audiologists there want me as a patient. I am tried of getting shoved off on to assistant after assistant that they do not seem to train properly on dealing with these aids. Its exhausting to wear hearing aids that do not work properly. A few years ago this review would have been a lot better. I am disappointed because I am a long time patient. Jennifer the front desk receptionist is always super nice and helpful and I can hear her very well on the phone and she gets 5 stars always but if I get anyone else they tend to talk on speaker phone and I can hardly hear them. I am not crazy about this place. 1. They don't use email or any other digital form of communication. Hello! We're all hearing impaired over here and none of us are particularly crazy about using the phone. It's damned near 2020 and they refuse to use email or text for their hard of hearing patients? Why? 2. They are extremely condescending to me whenever I have a problem with my hearing aids. I have been wearing these devices for over 30 years and they act like I don't know what I am talking about. Audiologists who are not hearing impaired themselves or do not wear hearing aids should really maybe listen to their patients who are lifelong hearing aid wearers. We know some shit. 3. One time they asked if I was there for my grandparent and I had to explain to them, no I am the patient. 4. I have had my current pair from them for 5 yrs and I have not once been satisfied with the way they have programed the aid for my right ear. Honestly I've given up at this point since every time I try to get them to adjust it they are in such a hurry to rush me out the door and never listen to what I am trying to explain to them. read more

The initial screening was utterly professional, and the follow-ups pleasant and first-class. Do understand, that when you go with the Lyric3 option, these good folks follow your progress closely and well. Available and completely responsive. Well-spaced appointments, as you adjust. Better yet, when one battery gave up its ghost when I was in the wilds of Idaho for the Eclipse. I sent an eMail to my audiologist, and she replied immediately, providing a location for replacement of the Lyric. It was 11 miles away and, since I'm part of the Lyric system, the local audiologist had all available personal information and provided replacement units. What more can you ask for?! read more

I've been coming hear for over 15 years. Always I have been treated like a friend, not just a client/customer. The doctors, technicians, and staff have been terrific. When I have had issues with a set of aids, they work with me until it is resolved. They work with me until I am satisfied. I've been in the office when they have contacted the manufacturer to solve an issue. Never have I experienced a hard sell. Options are provided to me, explained and I choose. Monday, May 9, I had a scheduled 9am appointment. At 7:02am, I received a text reminding me of the appointment. I drove 40 minutes to get there. After already parking in the garage, and walking to their Center, at 8:25am, I received a phone call stating that the appointment was canceled because the audiologist called in sick. Of course, I was disappointed and upset. I was rescheduled. But after further thought, I then canceled the upcoming appointment. It was to be my first visit to this Center. This experience caused me to schedule with another hearing Center, not this one. read more
