I'm a believer! After struggling with sinus issues for years, I was referred to Dr. Siegel at Midwest ENT by my internist. After a thorough examination, a round of medication and another exam, Dr. Siegel recommended surgery. I totally concurred. Supported by a wonderful surgical team at Northwestern, Dr. Siegel performed a number of "-tomys" and "-plastys." As a layperson, I told friends and family that my sinuses had been "roto-rootered." In the months since surgery, I've had several follow-up visits with Dr. Siegel. The staff at Midwest ENT is terrific; clearly, they're a reflection of how Dr. Siegel practices medicine. I'm no longer a mouth-breather, my sleep has improved dramatically, and my wife swears my snoring has stopped. Thank you, Dr. Siegel! Ps. With respect to criticisms about wait times, get over it. Considering the amount of time I have spent in the Antique Store, sorry, I meant, the Dr's Waiting Room / Antique Store - I would have thought they would be more understanding when I had to cancel an upcoming surgery. In the room with me, Dr. Siegel said that cancellation was no big deal, and pressured me to schedule when I wasn't sure my work schedule could acomodate. He made it sound like cancellation happens all the time, and it's not a big deal to reschedule. When I informed them on the phone I couldn't make it (3 days notice) they informed me I would be paying $500 for the privilege or receiving nothing. They then pointed to their disclaimer forms. Since I did not record my appointment, I have no way to prove it, but I was mislead by the physician in this case. When I eventually found another specialist, and mentioned my negative experiences with Dr. Siegel they just said, "Yeah, we hear that all the time." read more

I've been going to Dr. Siegel for over 25 years. He's the best doctor I've ever been to----smart as a whip, friendly, professional, and as kind a person as you'll ever meet. I have total confidence in him, If he says that I'm okay, then I know that I'm okay. If he says that I need a procedure, then I'm positive that I need it and that he'll do it right. You're never rushed. If you have 20 questions, he patiently answers all 20 until you're satisfied. You will leave his office glad that you saw him, and know that if you ever need care again, he's your doctor. read more

I can't believe any doctor or patient would recommend this facility. Just as no patient should be allowed to show up to an appt 2 hours late, no provider should think it's acceptable to make their patient wait for 2 hours. I felt bad looking at two additional patients in the lobby waiting as I left after not even being seen, 1 hr and 45 min after entering the office. read more

I had surgery with Dr. Siegal last summer. I waited to write a review as I had such mixed feelings on my overall experience. After thinking about what I would write for the past several months, I'm ready. Dr. Siegal is an excellent doctor and knows his stuff. I suffered for years with sinus related issues. I had been to ENTs and had been on nasal steroids on and off my whole adult life. Following surgery, I feel great. The recovery was bumpy and took longer than I ever anticipated but months later I feel like a new person. Pros: you have a true expert in the field when you see Dr. Siegal. He has so much experience and is well respected in the medical community. I trust is judgement and he was spot on with a plan of action for my chronic breathing and sinus issues. Cons: the office experience is pretty awful. I waited up to 3 hours on certain occasions past my assigned appointment time. I quickly learned to bring a charged lap top and plenty of work to deal with the waits. Even when I called ahead the ding batty office staff quoted inaccurate wait times and I always waited well over the scheduled appointment time. Outrageous. The office is well, um... totally bizarre and not the cleanest. Think odd trinkets, clocks and piles of paper everywhere Dr. Siegal reminds me of a cross between a kind mad professor and " doc" from Back to the future. For real. If the appointment wait time was more reasonable and the office was more organized I'd give this guy a 5. The fact that despite all that craziness he still deserves a 4 star speaks highly of his skills. Overall, I'd say if you have already seen another ENT with no success, give this Dr. a try. In regards to his long waits: You will be inside of Dr. Siegels office a lot longer then you probably want to be. I highly suggest bringing a fully charged cell phone or something to read/work on while you are in the waiting room. During my first visit, I waited about 40 minutes before being brought into the examination room. I don't enjoy waiting too long for any type of appointment, but it ended up being worth it. I've had issues with my ears off and on for years. I was excited to finally meet with an experienced doctor to discuss my concerns and provide treatment. Dr. Siegel had very good bedside manor and we even laughed about the fact that I was there on my birthday. I was also experiencing nasal related issues, so I had a nasal endoscopy performed. The procedure was a lot less scary then I imagined. My experience with Dr. Siegel and Dr. Hartman (the audiologist) was very positive. read more

My nose is back to the way I liked it. QNASL -- the one and only nasal spray that worked for 2 years. The thoughtful kind Office assisted in getting it covered by BCBS (retails for $250). LASERED TURBINATES -- in office procedure. It's comforting that Doc talked to me throughout the procedure for comfort. The flappy flappy turbinates blocked my nose when asleep. Echoing some of the other reviews - Dr. Siegel is one of the best doctors that I've ever had the pleasure to seen. I was having some Acid Reflux and throat issues and was referred to Dr. Siegel by my primary physician. On my first visit, Dr. Siegel throughly went over my medical history and the issues that I was having. I've never had a doctor be so through about my history and my symptoms. He really knows what he's doing and his care plan had me feeling better within days. I also just wanted to say that I never had to wait more than 20 minutes. Even if I did, it would've been worth it. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Siegel takes the time with each patient, including myself. Just a very overall positive experience. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience with Midwest ENT. I was originally trying to get into Northwestern, but they were booked far out and I wanted to see someone sooner due to an ear issue I was having. First, I waited at least an hour for my appointment. I understand that most doctors aren't on time for their appointments, but 1 hour seems unreasonable. Second, one reason for my appt was to get a hearing test. At the end of DR. Siegel's examination of me, he then informed me the audiologist wasn't available and wanted me to come in another day. I felt like this was a waste of my time, since I wanted to get everything done in one day. Third, Dr. Siegel made inappropriate comments to me. He made comments about my physical appearance that had nothing to do with hearing. He asked inappropriate questions regarding me being adopted and having cosmetic surgery. Needless to say, his level of professionalism was very poor. read more

Highly recommend this ENT. Dr. Siegal is a fantastic doctor and the office staff were very nice and accommodating on the phone and in person. Dr. Siegal even went out of his way to accept an in-person appointment with me during the first few months of COVID when their office was fully remote, because I called them (on SUNDAY night) freaking out about a medical issue regarding my ear. I was able to go in the next day (they follow all proper COVID precautions) and he met with me, did not make me feel bad about the increased risk I put him in, and also completely handled the issue. He really cares about the well-being of his patients, physically and mentally. After a few appts, Dr. Siegal has remained a personal connection who I can rely on for great recommendations of other doctors as well - it is very refreshing to be able to easily get a call back and have a conversation with your doctor that might be not directly related to an appointment (physician recommendations, check-in, etc). While there can be somewhat of a wait time as others have pointed out, it is 100% worth it for a doctor as personable, knowledgeable, and effective as Dr. Siegal. It's because you get to take advantage of the flip side of the wait time - every patient gets the best possible care as long as it takes - he won't walk out of the room on you because 'time's up'. As a less important aside, he's also a really interesting guy who has decked out the office in a really awesome way - you will not forget his clock collection combined with incredibly good classic music always playing. Dr. Gordon J. Siegel is wonderful. He is painstaking, careful and always polite. The wait times could be a problem for those working 9-5, but his medical skills and basic compassion are well worth any wait. BTW, pre-Covid he had Saturday morning appts. available. Dr. Siegel enjoys figuring out the best way to help his patients, and involves you in the treatment decisions after giving clear explanations. Of course I would prefer a short wait time, but no one was ever able to help me before. He is genuinely interested in your overall health, too. His referrals to other specialists have all been top notch. Besides, his collection of clocks and antiques everywhere in his offices are great fun. I have been a patient of Dr. Siegel for, really, years. The office is odd. In a review someone said he looks like a mad scientist; I think he probably looks like he did when he was 25 except now with gray hair. He spends as much time as necessary with you. I've experienced the ultra super mega waits but now I don't come when it's a work day -- I come on Saturday or on vacation. He is a very helpful physician who wants his patients to get better. I overlook the weird decor -- I don't live there so I don't care -- and the long waits because he does right by me and my ears, nose, and throat. read more

Dr. Siegel is absolutely amazing!!! I've struggled with sinus disease for 15 years. We have had to do many surgeries b/c my inflammation/disease is very aggressive. He did a fantastic job with each surgery resulting in me feeling SO much better for years after each one. He's always on top of medical advancements and we have been able to stop surgeries the past few years b/c of a new treatment that has worked great. And he just recommended a new treatment (a simple shot once a week) that I'm eager to try bc this could be an even better treatment for me. I need to echo many of the other reviews, but want to start by saying, do not go here. Period. My wait, like others, got the 2 hour mark before I walked out. The first hour and a 15 minutes was spent in the dirty antique shop that is the waiting room, where I was treated to a shockingly rude desk staff. The next 45 minutes was spent in the actual treatment room, which was as dirty looking and also filled with weird antiques. I've never been in such an unprofessional setting. The doctor never came, and when I left nobody apologized. I left at this point because in 2019, 15 minutes late is rude, while this was just laughable. I've been seeing Dr. Siegel for over 3 years. He has been exceptionally helpful and caring about the tongue cancers and near-cancers I've been having. (BTW, I never, ever smoked.) I can almost see the proverbial light bulb turn on over his head as I'm describing puzzling symptoms. He listens very carefully and does not rush his patients. In too many modern medical practices, everything is so bland and neutral that I have to think hard to remember where I've been. Dr. Siegel's collection of clocks and memorabilia is great fun to observe and, like himself, unforgettable. Yes, one does have to wait to see him, but that is mainly because he works very carefully and he doesn't slough off patients who have small emergencies. Yes, it would be better if he was ran his schedule more on time, but the superb quality of his diagnosis and care are worth far more than an hour or two. He is always very respectful, and he cares about his patients' general well-being, too. His referrals to other specialists for matters beyond his scope have always been spot-on. After weeks of mysterious dizziness, I went to my doctor and he said I had fluid in my ears and it was vertigo and gave me meds and said to go to an ENT just to be safe. No big deal. I called the guy (Dr. Siegel) he recommended, who was a block away and could get me in right away. I enter the office, to discover: clocks. Everywhere. Hundreds and hundreds of ticking clocks. It struck 3:00 while I was waiting, and I was subjected to the deafening clamor of one thousand cuckoos, church bells, and chimes. AT AN EAR DOCTOR'S OFFICE. The assistant led me down a dark hallway to the exam room. Imagine something between The Others' medical office in Lost and a collectors' storage shed; me in a giant leather chair and the wall behind me covered in yet more clocks. A model airplane hanging from the ceiling, dirty Navajo wall hangings, a swinging-hips Elvis clock, mysterious, aged medical equipment, and miscellaneous boxes under the exam table. The doctor came in--an aging hippie, with wooden clogs, a faded blue labcoat, and a flashlight strapped to his head. He is chewing gum and there is a piece of string cheese in his shirt pocket next to his tongue depressors. He is carrying an early model IBM thinkpad. He asks me a series of relevant, then irrelevant questions (how many siblings do I have, what do my parents do for a living, etc.), recording them in his ancient device, with long pauses in between. (please do not forget the symphony of ticking clocks in the background as I sit, hands folded in my lap, waiting for his reaction) Finally, he looks in my ears, declares that they are normal, says not to follow my doctor's advice, and that he would like me to schedule a 3-hour 'dizziness test,' which involves goggles, rapid movement, and hot and cold air blown into my ears. I believe I was Punked. (I called my mom and cried in frustration, then left a strongly-worded message in my doctor's voicemail (Dude. You warn a sister before you refer her to a place like that. "he's kind of unconventional, but keep an open mind..." "you don't have an aversion to ticking clocks, do you..."), then filled my prescription. Perhaps I shall solicit a third opinion.) read more

Yesterday's trip to Dr. Sielgel's office was my third and last visit to this disorganized office. Between my 3 different visits I have waited a total of 3 hours and 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. Not once did the doctor or office staff show any remorse for making me wait an obscene amount of time. There is signage in the rooms and in the lobby saying that you might be waiting a while but that is no excuse for having a busy office with one person to see patients. I think the part that turned me totally sour to this office was the fact that someone sitting next to me was seen before me that had an 11:30 job interview with the doctor. My appointment was scheduled at 11 and I waited way after 11:30 until I saw the doctor. The appointment itself was 10 minutes long and not helpful at all. Really man? If that is not a slap in my face than I do not know what is. Guess what Doctor? You can go ahead and cancel my appointment for July 12th because I am going to a functional doctors office. I was referred to Dr. Siegel by my primary care physician through Northwestern. She told me he's a little goofy, but is by far the best ENT in Chicago. I was seen right away and quickly learned I had a mess of things wrong with me that caused me to have strep throat often. After my first appointment we scheduled a date to have my tonsils and adenoids removed. The office was so sweet and helpful to answer all of my questions before and after the procedure. Dr. Siegel happily talked me through any concerns I had or that my mother visiting could thing of (I have an over cautious mother who called almost everyday) I'm healing wonderfully and can't wait to go back to the fun clock office to get my consultation. I was referred to Dr. Siegel by a co-worker who had undergone surgery under Dr. Siegel's care. I was warned early on that because of the time spent with each patient that they run behind. The solution to this is to call to check the status of the appointment before you head over there. I was able to save my time by not having to wait in the office. Plan on spending time extra time in there as you aren't rushed in and out, but that is why is he such an amazing doctor. I had been to my fair share of doctors over the years for my sinus issues only to be prescribed medicine for the symptoms. At my first visit with Dr. Siegel he was able to tell me what was wrong with my sinuses and discuss my options. It was a good feeling to know that I wasn't crazy and that I did have an issue. After consulting with Dr. Siegel it seemed as though surgery was the best option for me. It has been just over a year since my sinus surgery and I feel like a new person. I only wish I would have taken care of this earlier. If you are in need of a true ENT expert look no further. P.S - He is a clock collector so his office is full of them. I once had a uvula but now it is gone. I used to wake up every day and clear my throat till I pulled it down into my throat and I choked. I had several docs look into my throat for cancer and such but DR. Siegel is the one who saw the issue. Although I miss my uvula I do not miss the gagging in the morning after a night of drinking. I recommend this doc if you snore, gag and cant figure out what it is and if you want to know what time it is. read more

There are lots of things I don't like about this guy and his office, but in the end, he's a good doctor and I'm going to judge him on that. Cons: He is a kooky, leftover hippie. SO MANY CLOCKS and it's unnerving. He's never been on time, even for a 8:15am appointment. Pros: He solved an issue I've been dealing with my entire life and treated me the way I want my doctors to treat me. I have never been able to breathe through my nose. He diagnosed my issue immediately, and suggested we try about a month of other treatments (nose sprays, salt washes, etc.). When none of them worked, he recommended surgery. We discussed all kinds of options, and he was very patient with my thousands of questions, and was very realistic. I had the surgery with very low concern, and now I can breathe for the first time in my life. So yeah, I'm on board, even with all the cons. read more

Dr. Siegel has a little bit of that crazy genius thing going on, but he is one of the better Doctors I have ever seen and came recommended to me by a trusted (ie. discriminating) friend. The first time I saw him, he offered the same lame bland diet wait-n-see approach, but he did spend a lot of time with me and really listened to all that I had to say and took notes. On my second appointment he had a name for what he thinks I might be suffering from. For eight years I went undiagnosed, told there was nothing wrong with me and it was all in my head by other Doctors. Dr. Siegel also gave me a referral to an EXCELLENT Specialist, which has helped me tremendously. He also was very generous with the samples, which I really appreciate since I have a high deductible insurance plan that doesn't cover medications. As with any Doctor, you need to take charge because it is your health. For instance, Dr. Siegel kind of skims over things in the examination room, and unless you are really paying attention and follow up with the front desk and read everything he sends you home with, you could miss something (prescription, samples, diet instructions, etc.). I haven't gone back for a third appointment because I am unemployed and broke right now, and with the scope, every office visit costs me $300 bucks. read more

If you read the reviews below, you will note that many folks complain about the waiting time -- especially in an office loaded with chiming clocks! It's true. You often have to wait an hour or more. If waiting is not your thing, go elsewhere until you hear otherwise. But if you ARE willing to wait, Dr. Siegel is a GREAT doctor. People complain that he looks like a hippie from days gone by or is quirky. Oh buck up! He's a genuinely warm person and takes the time to find out how you are, what's wrong, and what might be causing the problem. IOW, he's a real doctor. For years, I had such severe nasal problems I could barely breathe decently out of my nose. Dr. Siegel is an excellent doctor. You might have to wait to see him, but you will be endlessly entertained by the clocks and vintage ephemera in his waiting room and office. He was thorough and I left with no unanswered questions or that feeling some doctors give you when it seems as though they didn't take you seriously enough. I'm sure this is the reason for the long wait. He took such excellent care of me that I will now completely trust him for all of my ENT needs. He is super nice 1st I visited I felt little weirdo then I took some time and then I realized he is old fashioned which I loved so is treatment too with new technology and old fashioned lol loved it. After all the test doctor Siegel decided to do the operation, I got operated at north western hospital by doctor Siegel last year on July 5th its almost 7 months now I am feeling great like new person :) I am thankful to my doctor ( Kaleo Stazkow) who is my regular doctor at 676 st Clair, Chicago Lake shore Medical Association) advised me to see Dr Siegel, so I did. And the staff is super cool too. After years of spa facials that left me relaxed but with little in terms of results, I am so glad I found Whitney. I got my first clinical facial this past weekend--and I will be back soon for another. She gave me a thorough consultation, explaining that while I couldn't do a chemical peel since I am still nursing my baby, we could do an oxygen facial, which I'd always been curious about. The doctor's office setting was different than a spa environment, but Whitney dimmed the lights, had a candle lit, and covered me with a cozy blanket. I was totally relaxed. She is very knowledgeable about skin, skin care, and appropriate products, and I felt like I was in very good hands. Whitney's technique is very soothing, just the right amount of pressure. I left actually glowing like I haven't since before I got pregnant (pregnancy does not give you a glow, believe it or not!) and I will be back for a chemical peel in a few months. Very disappointed. Dr Siegler was recommended to me by my GP and I'm so sorry i didn't look at reviews before going to him. The office is a mess and doesn't allow for any type of social distancing. I know he runs late. I've been here three times. Always hours of waiting with zero explanation. My time with him is always brief, so I'm confused when I'm told he runs late because he spends time with patients. Today I scheduled one of the earliest available time slots to prevent getting caught in a major delay. I arrived at the office at the same time dr Siegel arrived. Been here 1hour 45 minutes. What is causing the delay? Is he really spending 2 hours with the one patient scheduled before me?? I can't continue to come here because I can't afford to take off a whole day of work for a 10 minute appointment. To add, I don't think they hire a cleaning service to clean the office. The lobby and exam rooms are covered in dust and the floors are stained and dirty. Looks like there hasn't been a sweep or wipe in over a month. The doctor who performs the hearing tests is very timely and professional. Her space smells clean and looks sanitary. She gets 5 stars. read more

Dr Siegel is a genius. You may have to wait a little while but it's completely worth it. I had a persistent cough for over three months and after my primary care physician diagnosed a sinus infection and other related issues with no progress she sent me to Dr. Siegel. He figured out the problem in one visit. Don't assume that a 21st century waiting room is the key to an accurate diagnosis-- it's the intelligence and experience of the doctor that matters. I was seen by Dr. Siegel for a persistent cough. He explained the cause and solutions to me thoroughly and had an overall pleasant demeanor. The office itself is a bit cooky and state fair/carnival-like with clocks of all shapes and sizes everywhere, but it didn't bother me a whole lot since I just wanted to figure out what was wrong and get out anyway. I went to see Dr. Siegel twice and waited no longer than 10-15 minutes to be seen and was out of the office in about an hour each time. read more
