Went to see Dr Pritikin for a nasal obstruction. He was professional, smart, friendly, and very direct - quite refreshingly so. He educated me about the sinuses and where my pain and discomfort were coming from and offered solutions. I was using a product that was not working well for me so that was good to know as well. He made clear that he's available to me for further follow up consultation/discussion if I want to call him. His office was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and knew their stuff. Although I didn't use it, they have parking validation stickers for a lot a couple of blocks away. I will recommend him to anyone who needs an ENT, without reservation. read more

Dr. Pritikin is one of the best all-around doctors I have ever been to. He is incredibly competent in his field, having dedicated his practice to nasal and sinus issues. He has great bedside manner, with a calm, collected, and empathetic approach. I was struck from my first appointment with him the way he spends time teaching patients to educate them on the anatomy of the nose and sinuses. This helps you better understand his diagnoses and recommendations, whether surgical or other. He also shows great patience in answering patient questions, and appointments do not feel rushed - rare with a specialist. He is not pushy and does not needlessly push surgery or other treatments; he recommends what is appropriate. Incredibly competent surgeon - post-operative recovery from surgery was much less intense than what is described online by other leading hospitals. My PCP is a Northwestern doctor and referred me to him, not to Northwestern ENTs. Additionally, the entire office at Chicago Nasal and Sinus Center is a pleasure to work with. Everyone is friendly, and it is so easy to contact the office - no hold, someone just answers the phone. Easy to schedule appointments, and the office runs on time. It's the type of boutique office where before long everyone who works there knows you by name. Anyone who is looking for an ENT, I highly recommend Dr. Pritkin and his practice. After 2 surgeries and a handful of doctors failed to fix (or even identify) my severe nasal obstruction, Dr. Pritikin identified the problem in about 30 seconds - and showed it to me in real time with a fancy HD camera scope. This place is okay, but I think it's bizarre that nobody says hi. Even when one of the nurses/pa's came in to perform a procedure, I didn't get a hello. I had to say hello before she stuck an instrument into my mouth. I don't get it. Update: This place us only getting worse. The woman on the phone is a real smart aleck! She seems to enjoy trying to "correct" me. The only problem is that she doesn't know what she's talking about. I only came here because it was the only place with available appointments, but now I can see why. I am definitely a patient. I prefer to remain anonymous for fear of retribution. read more

I've had the most excellent care here from Dr Corey, and followed her from U Chicago to be able to receive it. When you find a doctor who is thoughtful and actually treats your case individually rather than a rote diagnosis and reflexive treatment plan you know you've found a good one. Dr Corey is just that. I've always felt that the care was the most important thing, and bedside manner- while certainly desirable- wasn't truly as important. With Dr Corey I've had both. And Dr Corey can actually be booked for an appointment in a very reasonable time- such as while you're still not feeling so well. That's something to say these days. Dr Pritikin performed the sinuplasty procedure on me thirteen years ago. I have not needed additional procedures- which used to be commonplace from what friends told me. I used to be tormented by allergies and had several sinus infections a year. Currently, my allergies are moderate and I may get sinus infections every year or two. I have seen the doctor for subsequent appointments. They have always used a lot of thought with prescribing medications and recommending innovative alternatives. He set me up with a take home sleep study - a three night not--so-invasive test as compared to a clinic. I have referred several friends to the practice over the years and have gotten positive reports. If you're having ENT issues or are looking for a second opinion, you won't be disappointed. read more

Kidding aside, Dr. Pritikin and his physician assistant, Amy Brussee, are fine for what I need them for: fixing my sinuses, keeping rhino viruses in check, etc. I usually see Amy for anything not involving scalpels. She's attentive and descriptive; I appreciated her help during my sinus surgery--calm and reassuring when I thought things would never get better. Things did get better, and the rest of the staff is wonderful. IGNORE the negative reviews! I'm serious. Over the past ten years, I have seen every single provider who works in this office, and I can assure you there are the very BEST in the business. I do not have enough words to express how grateful I am for Chicago Nasal and Sinus Center! Most importantly, Dr. Jordan Pritikin is one of the finest doctors I have ever met. I came to Dr. Pritikin after suffering for probably 15+ years with sinus pressure, pain, headaches, and constant sinus infections. Every ENT I saw would tell me it was allergies, even though my tests show I am not allergic to anything, and they would give me nasal sprays that didn't work. Dr. Pritikin LISTENED to my concerns, and was smart enough to order a CT Scan. The scans showed a severely deviated septum, and the right side of my sinuses were almost swollen shut. He indicated surgery (septoplasty and endoscopic sinus surgery) was my best option, but also did not overly push me into surgery. I felt so comfortable with him, I booked the surgery right away. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made for my health! Not only can I breathe like never before, but the sinus headaches are gone, and I haven't had a sinus infection since the surgery. He also said that when I get a cold, they should last less time after surgery, and he was absolutely right. My quality of life has changed in ways I cannot express. Since then, I have had two other minor procedures with Dr. Pritikin. I had the turbinates in my sinuses reduced. He told me after I had my first surgery that it looked like something I should probably have done, but since I was already doing the septoplasty and endoscopic sinus surgery, he wanted to wait for a later date. Having the turbinates reduced made my breathing even better. Very recently, I had a VIVAER Nasal Airway Remodeling procedure done to fix some cartilage that was blocking my nasal passage on the right side. It was probably due to an injury sustained many years ago. It was so easy and pain free, and I felt better instantly in the chair. It shows that Dr. Pritikin stays up to date on all the latest procedures and surgeries. Literally everything he has recommended has made my health so much better, and I could not be more grateful. I also recently started seeing Dr. Corey in the practice. I called the office a couple months ago to ask them if they could recommend an asthma doctor for me. My asthma has been controlled for many years, without medication, but recently I had a flare up. They told me Dr. Corey could see me, as she is a specialist. All of the medications she gave me has drastically improved the asthma. I was there today, and my test results were within normal range, meaning outside what would be considered asthma. She has also taken over my acid reflux medication, and really helped get that under better control as well. I'm very happy she is on staff at Chicago Nasal and Sinus Center. I haven't worked with Amy too much, but she does a lot of Dr. Pritikin's post-op appointments, to make sure everything has healed correctly following a procedure. She really knows her stuff, and was a lot of fun to work with. I can definitely say that if they offer you an appointment with Amy, she is absolutely worth having her take care of you. Lastly, I'll address something that really quite bothers me that I am reading in these reviews. In all the years I have been going to Chicago Nasal and Sinus Center, never once has anyone at the front desk ever acted rudely to any patient. In fact, they are one of the most friendly staff I have ever met in a doctor's office. They always know who I am, and they are always asking me about something they remembered about me. This guy Dr.Pritikin could not solve my problem with the nasal congestion and if pressed upon whats going he stops taking calls and emails. What a loser of doctor! These guys claim to have 30 years of experience in nasal problems which is why I went to them and they couldnt even say for sure as to what is causing the congestion and they dont know the reason also! The front desk are as rude as they can be and all they give you is a headache.They should be shut down and I am going for legal action against them!! read more

I looked up Chicago Nasal & Sinus Center on the Internet and was able to fortunately get an appointment the next day as I was miserable. My left ear had plugged up from ear wax where I tried to use over-the-counter remedies that made it worse and my right ear was also having wax issues. Amy was assuring and calming about the treatment after looking into both ears and confirming that there was excess was. At 74 years old, I still work full time and was having a difficult time at work in the last few days due to my ears being so plugged. Amy suctioned the wax out of my ears with a tool and then removed a little clump of wax in my left ear with another tool because that piece of wax was next to my eardrum and causing my hearing difficulties. She explained everything she was doing ahead of time, and I could immediately HEAR after the ear wax removal process. Amy is an expert Physician Assistant at Chicago Nasal & Sinus Center. read more

After an initial good first visit from my primary referral, I was told to call in to schedule my surgery which "could be done next week". My wife called back to schedule, and there was not only no time available "next week" but the girl who scheduled the appointments LAUGHED at my wife when she suggested that they call us back if there was a cancellation for some reason. "That's not how it works here". Are you kidding me? Laughed, and made a snotty comment. WOW. Secondly, we were both told that we should have the surgery at a different hospital other than St Joe's, and it would be covered by insurance. IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN. I would have had to pay the bill on my own like other reviewers here. Sorry, but if you are going to make snotty ass comments about how things work at your office at least do your job correctly. After seeing the negative reviews on here about post surgery issues, I decided to get a second opinion. I'm now scheduled with another surgeon who gave me more options, is performing different procedures (not all as invasive) as the "dremel to your sinus" as Pritikin described it. Always get a second opinion, and always double check to make sure that your procedures are covered by insurance. Especially if your first visit is here. read more

Dr. Pritikin and his whole staff are excellent. They worked with me on some sinus issues for a couple years. Cindy, especially, provided outstanding customer service and stood up to my insurance company in ways I never would have expected--above and beyond doesn't even begin to cover it! She eventually managed to reverse declined charges on not one, but TWO surgeries that were specifically excluded by my policy and that I would have been out many thousands of dollars for. Outstanding. I can't say my sinus problems are completely gone, but they've improved, and I've always had nothing but a great experience working with these folks. read more

Dr. Caballero is a good doctor. However, the billing practices here are very, very shady. I've been to Chicago Nasal and Sinus center about 5 times. I originally went in for some severe nose bleeds that I've had my entire life and I figured that it wouldn't cost too much to get treated even though I had not fully met my deductible. Boy was I wrong... All of a sudden I had an infection in my nose and it would cost me a pretty penny. This place will nickel and dime you and does a lot of unneeded tests... This is why you have to sign a bs form as a new patient... So they can get away with charging simple tests as surgeries. I've been to three other specialists this year and I've hardly ever paid more than the standard copay! Some simple procedures such as nasal cauterization and endoscopy are charged as very pricey surgeries. When I brought up the charges to my insurance company (BCBSIL), they were very confused by the claims and asked me if I had been to the hospital for surgery as this was indicated by the claim the practice had submitted. Just from two visits, I owe over $700. This is WITH insurance. And while I knew going in that my deductible still needed to be met, I didn't except for very simple treatments to cost close to $2,000. What's really unfortunate is that you are unsure what is considered preventive and what isn't because Dr. Caballero is doing a lot of things inside of your nose and you aren't really sure what is covered because no one tells you. I was never told that a camera being stuck in my nose (for 10 seconds) would cost $600... Nor was I prepared for this as this was never communicated with me prior to treatment/diagnosis. Which sucks considering the doctor turned around and all of sudden I had something in my nose that was apparently costing me several hundred dollars. The most frustrating thing by far was the billing practices. I only ever paid one or two copays and I would always ask the front desk before checking out if I had an outstanding balance. They would always say no beside the one time I paid a copay. Little did I know that there were hundreds of dollars of treatment costs accumulating in my account. This month, I got a bill for over $700 for treatment performed THREE months ago. If I would have known this would have been my treatment costs each visit, I would have stopped seeing the doctor a long time ago. Why was I told my outstanding balance was $0 when in fact, it was over $700 for three months? I had an appointment last week and I don't even want to know how much I'm going to be charged or when I'm actually going to be billed for it... July??? To top it all off, it cost me $800 just to be prescribed antibiotics and over the counter medicine. I was also being prescribed medications that weren't even covered by my insurance. I still have an infection in my nose despite having over three months of treatment. If I was going to spend that much just to be close to the same as when I started treatment, I might as well just not gone and saved quite a bit of cash. I am stilling having problems with the infection but I have canceled my follow up appointment as I can no longer afford spending hundreds of dollars just for one visit. read more

Loved my experience with this office and especially Dr. Pritikin. I'm a flight attendant and we are exposed to so many germs and this is a constant battle we face. Can I tell you I was sick 5 times with a sinus infection in one year. I usually get an infection 1-2 a year. My general practitioner was giving me antibiotics but I obviously knew there is something more wrong with me. I was referred through a friend and I couldn't have been happier. Dr. Pritikan and staff were great. Cindy really worked with me to figure out an appropriate surgery date and made sure everything was in-line with insurance. I got my tonsils removed and a deviated septum corrected. The Doc was very access able before and after the surgery and clearly explained what was involved and what risk factors I should be aware of. A couple of follow-up visits after the surgery and I'm fully healed and sleep way better and don't snore, which the Mrs. is happy about. They are also right down by Daley plaza and really easy to get to with public transit. read more

Thank goodness for this man, this office and the staff. Seriously!!!! Not unlike most people who come to Chicago Nasal & Sinus Center I came in in rough shape. After months dealing with a antibiotic resistant sinus infection I was struggling and needed more help than my usual Dr. could provide. After a quick initial review of my symptoms and previous treatments and a scan of my sinuses, surgery was recommended by Dr. Pritikin. I spoke with him in depth about the turbinate reduction, and why it was needed and came to his conclusion that I should go ahead and have it. Being someone who has never had surgery outside of wisdom teeth, I was relatively inexperienced, but Dr. Pritikin eased my fears while talking me through the benefits. Going into the surgery, while nervous, I was confident that Dr. Pritikin was the correct Dr. for me; his staff at St. Joe's backed up my fears. Not only were they nice, but they were fun and jovial, something that made me feel more at home going into surgery. I know it sounds weird, but sometimes you just need someone light hearted to ease your fears. Not only did his staff allow my family into the waiting room before my surgery, but they were excellent when in recovery as well. In post op, after listening to me ask for ice chips instead of pain medicine more than once, they went ahead and give me the ice I was asking for. At that moment I couldn't have been more grateful! I knew I was drugged up, but they actually listened to me and made me a happy camper in the process. Meanwhile my Mom, who was waiting in the outpatient surgery center, was more than pleased at how Dr. Pritikin treated her and how he discussed me. She was tickled when she heard that I was alright and she was glad to see me post surgery in a happy state claiming that while I had a nose bleed, I was actually feeling wonderful! I can't lie, I was feeling pretty excellent! Four weeks later I am ecstatic at how I have progressed. All of the possible side effects that could occur when doing this type of surgery, I have not experienced. And, most importantly, my sinus infection has dissipated. Dr. Pritikin let me know that my bad sinus infection was not a figment of my imagination and put me on the path of health. Personally I believe Dr. Pritikin is a true master of his craft, as evident by my success. His staff is also exceptional! I called more than once for questions regarding the surgery and issues with my PTO post surgery, which they were more than happy to help me with. Cindy helped me most of the time, and I couldn't have been more pleased with how she explained things with me and how she worked out issues with my employer regarding PTO. I can't thank them everyone in their office enough! My recommendation is that if your looking for an ENT in the Chicago area, you should consider Dr. Pritikin's office. He and his staff are more than exceptional when dealing with ENT issues. Months later I couldn't be more happy with my results and hopefully you wont be either! read more

I saw Dr. Corey years ago for nasal problems. Now I have had bone changes throughout that area and my head and scheduled an urgent appointment to get things accurately assessed and a treatment plan. I had images sent ahead. I needed a bit of transportation assistance which I notified the office of and they said to just have the transportation company helping send them the forms to sign off on. When they received them, the doctor then changed her mind and refused to sign them after not opening the urgent email for three days. So no transportation, no appointment. Many people came together to make this work and the physician destroyed it. I need medical care. Horrifying. read more

Dr. Pritikin is a great doctor. He worked with me to try and decrease my allergies with various medications. When that didn't help, we talked about surgery. I decided to have my deviated septum fixed in conjunction with having my turbinates reduced. The surgery went fine and in under a week I was feeling about 99%. I can breathe so much so easier now, it's amazing what a difference the surgery made. On a side note, my insurance denied my claim after my surgery because I had my septum fixed and my turbinates reduced during the same surgery. I guess my insurance would have preferred paying for two separate surgeries... Cindy had called before my surgery to clear it with BCBS, and received the 'go-ahead' from them; so there was no fault on Dr. Pritikin's office for the claim denial. Cindy spent about 5 months going back and forth with BCBS until they finally approved my claim. She would call me every month or so to keep me up to date on where my claim stood, which I really really appreciated. A million thank you's to Dr. Pritikin and Cindy! read more

If I was crushing on Dr. Pritikin before my surgery, I am in love with the man after. I haven't been able to breathe without Caratin-D, Allegra-D, Afrin and a nettie pot for the last 5 years. My allergists checked me over and prescribed all sorts of nose sprays, and none of them have the effect that Afrin does, and Afrin wears off after 4 hours. I was desperate to cure my constant sinus problem. My general practitioner referred me to Dr. Pritikin. I was able to make an appointment almost immediately and was seen promptly. Dr. Pritikin has a very gentle, reassuring, bedside manner. He explains everything he does as he's doing it, always asking if you're comfortable or not, and warning when it may get uncomfortable. He thoroughly explained that I had polyps in both my nasal cavities exasperated my years of asthma and allergies, and they were preventing me from breathing sufficiently. I also had a cyst somewhere down one of those tunnels from the same things. He gave me several choices of treatment with their chances of success - one of which was surgery. I chose to have nasal turbinate surgery which wasn't without its risks. Dr. Pritikin performed the surgery at St. Joseph's. The surgery center there is brand new and very modern. After I received anesthesia and was prepped for surgery, I was wheeled into the surgery room. The last thing I heard was him asking where my favorite place in the world was and telling me to dream of Paris, and he would take care of everything before I woke. Sure enough, I woke up, and surprising, the worst part of surgery was the absolute worst nausea from the anesthesia. Even days after the surgery, nothing inside my nose hurt, and everything went smoothly with no side effects. Complete success! it's been a year now, and I haven't used Afrin or any other allergy medications and can breathe better than I remember in years. Thank you so much, Dr. Pritikin! read more
