So .... The ghost tour didn't get off on a very good start because our driver was 30 minutes late. The driver seemed to be having a rough night so we tried not to let that bother us. However ... When we were still driving around picking people up 45 minutes later, it got a little old. We don't want to be too negative ... It was a nice night and we got to see the city from a hearse ... Different and kinda fun. The hearse wasn't the most comfy ride ... Plastic seats and if you're taller than 6 feet, you might be a little crunched. The stories were ... Just okay, and the story telling left a little to be desired. Would we recommend this tour? No. But there seem to be several good reviews, which is why we tried it in the first place. My co-workers and i came across this while we were at a conference and thought it would be a interesting experience. It was just that, intriguing and funny, but not so much spooky. Savanna's history provides the optimal place for this type of tour. Local history is told about the city and some it's more famous landmarks and haunted sites. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. however, the hearse made many circles around some of the different squares as they were telling the stories. I am getting married this weekend in savannah. I made a reservation one week ago for this tour and they took my credit card number. I sent a text to them this morning to confirm and got a text back saying it was, indeed confirmed. Well, they never showed up and when I called the man on the phone was completely rude to me. First, you have to know what you're getting. It's $17 tour that last about 90 minutes and as it is in a hearse, it is more centered around pop-culture and ghost stories and meant to be fun and entertaining than it is to be a historical account of Savannah. THAT is what we were looking for. I was in town at a conference with a friend and we wanted something fun and laid back while we waited to meet up with some colleagues for dinner. Peg Leg Ron was our guide. He was right on time, polite, fun and the tour was great. Yes, it does circle a few places a few times, but I found that to be great as those were the places I wanted to snap a picture of and head Ron not circled I would have been unable to do so! He even pulled over and got out to talk when he needed to point out things we might not have been able to spot just by driving by. You do give a card number to reserve, but you pay at the end, card or cash (they carry a portable reader). Seats are just hokey bolted to the top of a hearse things that are unstable as the dickens, but ya know, it's a 90 minute ghost/pop culture tour for under $20 that's hilarious. Suck it up and live a little. Ron continually asks if you can hear ok, memorizes EVERYONES name, cracks jokes. It was a great addition to our trip and because of his tips I will be checking out some of the cool haunted places, website tours and will be staying at a haunted inn on my next visit to Savannah! read more

Their saving grace is Phyllis, our driver. I am not kidding, over 2 days I had to call 20 times to make and confirm our reservation. It would ring forever, go to voicemail, I would leave a message and they would call back later. The first night, I called and called, left a message and finally someone called back and said to call on this # (not the one from their site) I called and called back and finally made our reservation for the next night. She said I had to confirm the next day, HUH? The next day I called and called, left a voicemail. Called and called the 2nd number. She finally answered and was really annoyed with me, saying it was her personal cell and she "didn't work today". Ummmmm, ok. I finally gave up and planned on just showing up that night. They called us about 2 hours before the time of our tour to confirm. Phyllis was very nice and gave good info on our drive. I wish we didn't have a group of kids on our tour. At 9pm and considering the content of the tour (hangings, stabbings, etc) it seemed silly to have 3 kids under 10 with us. read more

Worse ghost tour ever. I can only guess the lure of this tour is part the price and part that you can be drunk on the tour and behave badly. However, I am reviewing strictly on the ghost tour piece . . . not that you'll leave smelling like exhaust fumes and/or your guide's cigarette smoke (or a fellow guest's). With respect just to ghost tour, the actual telling of stories, this was truly a disappointing tour. I have been coming to Savannah since 1997 and living here now a few years I have been on at least a dozen ghost tours. Many have been interesting, some have been fascinating, some have been scary. This was only fascinating in how lame and strange the stories were . . . essentially driving by some locales which the guide advising "that house there, some nasty sh** went down here, it's haunted." Yes, I am quoting. My BFF was visiting, and she too has been on a few ghost tours here in Savannah, and though she didn't say it was the worse tour, she would put this "at the bottom of the list" of all the other tours she has taken. Again, even discounting everything else (smoke, fumes) this was the worse ghost tour ever. I've been on many a ghost tour over the years, but never one as fun as this. Imagine being picked up for an evening of ghost hunting in an actual hearse! The roof has been raised and chairs installed in the bed of the vehicle so you're actually peering out over what was once the hood of the car. The set-up is perfect if you want to take pictures (and you'll be handsomely rewarded by orbs galore on this tour) because you can avoid the glare you so often get behind a window on a regular tour bus. Hearse Tours picks up at certain hotels around the city, so getting on and off shouldn't be a problem. Shouldn't be, but of course, it was for us: the driver went to the hotel we were staying at rather than the one he told us to go to. Three phone calls and 30 minutes later, all systems were go. Our tour guide was a bit hippy dippy, but a lot of fun. He kept us laughing the whole ride, although we weren't always certain his "facts" were historically accurate. We spent two hours exploring Savannah's old civil war burial grounds, pirate hangouts and asylums, all for the low, low cost of $15 a person. Worth every penny if you ask me! read more

The hearse was neat. A bit crowded. The chairs very unstable. Our tour guide Brett was cheesy and not really funny. I felt bad and still tipped 20% like the phone representative insisted when I booked the tour. I'm a nice tipper. The photos he showed us were clearly photoshopped badly and the stories he told us of his personal experiences seemed over the top and fake. I've been on other ghost tours and this was the worst. This is a difficult tour to rate. Depending on what you're into, you might love this hearse tour. I was hoping to hear ghost stories related to the history of Savannah, so sadly this tour didn't do it for me. If you're into history head over to Bonaventure Cemetery for an excellent tour. Others on my hearse tour (who all appeared several drinks in) seemed to have a great time. The hearse stopped in a random parking lot to view a vacant building. We were told that if we took pictures of the buildings windows we'd capture the "demons" that resided there. Note: the buildings windows very obviously had a tint or some sort of film on them, so taking a photo of them with a flash at night would result in some random discolored shapes on the photo. The inebriated folks on my tour were so excited that they got their very own picture of a real life demon! I was bored & wondered why I spent money to stand in an empty parking lot for 20 minutes. read more

When we each paid our $15 fare with twenties, he did not offer change, likes to determine his own tips, I guess? Very poor service. Loved our tour with Chris, who apparently drives the most haunted of the hearses! The tour was both historic and spooky. It was refreshing not having to walk anymore after a long, hot day of touring around. They also build in a restroom stop at a haunted butcher shop that has a collection of spooky artifacts. I can't think of a better way to see Savannah. Very entertaining. I especially liked seeing the older people on the "regular" tour buses giving us the stink eye for being in a hearse while also seeing the looks of envy on the faces of the young riders in the seats behind them. Seriously, if the option is between a hearse and a plain old bus, the choice should be an easy one to make. our tour guide was very courteous and very knowledgeable about the area. he did a good job of including personal stories and other people's stories that had been related to him in with the normal scripted stuff. it was also nice to get a good look at the "historic el cheapo" and the "haunted McDonald's" along the way that said, it's obvious that if you get a less than stellar tour guide, you'll have a less than stellar tour. that applies to ALL TOURS, not just this one. at least with the hearse tour you can get a crappy tour (if your tour guide isn't good) in a fun hearse. also, shout out to "peg leg". he was NOT our guide for this tour (we read the reviews that said he was the best guide but didn't know you could request specific guides...which by the way, you can), however, while waiting at the double tree to get picked up we saw his hearse pull up. he informed us that he was not our tour guide but that ours would be along shortly, then we stood there for a while having a nice conversation with him about Savannah and he gave us a good tip about Vinnie Van Go-Go's pizza right around the corner. we'll definitely ask for him next time. read more

Stay away! We had high hopes for this tour, but even from the start, there were a few drivers in the pickup area and they were so confused about who they were picking up and we ended up starting late. We took the 10:45pm tour, so maybe everyone (including the driver) was tired, but the tour was pretty boring and pretty much put me to sleep. We drove to a few locations and heard stories from the driver. You won't be actually getting out of the hearse, so just be prepared to listen. I think we visited 4-5 sites. It was pretty boring though, so no, I would not recommend it. read more

All you have to do is call their number and they will tell you where to be and at what time. Our tour lasted approximately 45 minutes. We were a party of six including a 10 and 12 year old. They thoroughly enjoyed the stories. Our guide (forgot her name) was a super nice older lady who took the time to help us take pictures of the sites and our group. The driver Dave was very nice and did a good job explaining the local squares. We are glad we did it but most likely would not go again. We will try some of the walking tours to see how those are. We provided our credit card information, got an email confirmation, and planned our ENTIRE night and trip around this tour. We were at our spot at the designated time, and guest after guest got picked up. We called Ross at the dispatch center, and he said they "messed up" our reservation, and we wouldn't be able to go on a tour. I can confirm what others say here - request Ron or "Peg-leg Ron" he is super friendly and has his ghost tour Rob-Zombie-meets-Tom-Waits persona down to a tee. He is super knowledgeable and strikes a great balance between haunting stories and historical infomation. Travelling from Australia, Ron also had some useful tips about where to eat and what to do in Savannah generally when picking us up/dropping us off for the tour. No other cemeteries just drove by houses or inns and told stories as we drove by. Each story was interrupted by the chatty guest. Guide made no attempt to stop her interruptions and seemed to engage her in more conversations. We were dropped off about 3 blocks from our hotel about 8:35. Soooo. I've always wanted to go on one of these tours and FINALLY I did. Must I say, what I received was not what I was expecting. First off, We got a phone call from our driver to come early since he finished his previous tour ahead of time......no big deal. Once there, about 5 minutes after we arrived another couple arrived. The driver then states he has to go to the Marriott to pick up the last couple.......cool. As soon as we take off, I nearly go flying out the window! The seats seems to have been taken directly out of a 2nd grade classroom. Not only were they tiny but they were also not secure. I literally had to buckle myself to keep from falling out of my seat LITERALLY! After waiting about 30 minutes for the couple to not show we were on our way. My hopes were pretty high for this tour but as the night went on it got lower and lower. Basically the tour consists of driving around downtown Savannah and stopping in front of supposedly haunted buildings and listening to stories as to why its considered to be haunted. At first I was pretty intrigued but as the night went on things got quite dull. By the third stop I was wondering if I should get a daiquiri afterwards and what type. By the end of the tour, I had pretty much checked out and was trying not to fall asleep. Soooo.... Most likely I will not go on another one of these tours but at least I can say I gave it a try. read more

Totally not what I had expected. Thought it'd be going into cemetery, old houses, and buildings. Instead it was driving in circles, down an alley way. Finally get to a butcher shop, you walk in there's two couches, a skeleton, a noose, and a butcher apron. Peg Leg will ramble on a few minutes then open another door and have you enter. Once inside you'll see a bunch of junk, and stuff they try to sell you; tee shirts, coffee mugs, magnets, and other things. Then you load up a get dropped off. Also Please Be Advised the Hearse is old. The one we had the seat by the tailgate door was broken also they are very small seats. I was the last one one and ended up on the broken seat (poor me). Lastly bring oxygen the carbon monoxide from the old hearse muffler will over power you a kill you DEAD before any ghost will. read more

I hate giving an establishment 1 star but, this tour was not what it was advertised to be. For one, there are specific pick up and drop off locations that they allow- when I booked I was told they would pick me up anywhere in the historic district (this was not true). We were picked up a few minutes late outside of the mansion on Forsyth Park. No big deal. We got into the hearse which was pretty cool buckled up and were off. The moment the guide started talking, we knew we were in trouble. We couldn't understand a single word he was saying. He using what appeared to be a fake New Orleans/ southern/ spooky voice and not a single person could understand him or follow the words. He drove around in circles and he we barely covered any ground and backtracked a few times. The weirdest part is when we got out for 20 minutes and went into this gimmick of a museum which was showcasing fake props. It was clearly a way for them to kill time. Our tour was only 45 minutes total and it was advertised to be a 75-90 minute tour.... so we got a half tour for the same price!? Honestly, thank God it wasn't 90 mins because it was unbearable to listen to his inaudible rambling. It was a total waste and disappointing given we planned this on Friday the 13th. I should add the reason we knew his accent was fake was because he spoke completely normally to colleagues in the gimmicky "museum". Avoid this tour. read more
