We came in on the 4th on July - right after the downtown parade - and we STILL got a table despite the crowds & popularity The inside of the establishment was light & bright due to large windows, a cheery environment whose positivity extended to the greenery filled outdoor space. Staff was very friendly and with 2 options of ordering -- between at-counter ordering with a staff member + online tablet ordering -- you don't have to worry about waiting long to order. The menu is extensive, providing everything from (several options of) acai/dragon fruit bowls, fruit & vegan protein powder smoothies, and savory dishes such as avocado toast and two kinds of VEGAN breakfast sandwiches The food & drinks came out FAST; their espresso was great and was served on a charming bamboo board with a glass of (lemon?) sparkling water which was a great touch. I had their chocolate & peanut butter protein shake and it was delicious. My sister got an avocado/mango/banana/granola/chia seed bowl which was gone in all of 5 minutes. First time at Heart Bowls and it was quite the surprised to find a fully vegan restaurant in Sandpoint. There's breakfast sandwiches, loaded toast, açaí/smoothie/or protein bowls, rice bowls, salads, n'ice cream, mylkshakes, a wide variety of baked goods, and of course coffee. I got a breakfast sandwich that had Just Egg, cheese, beyond sausage, tomato, and spinach on an english muffin. It was tasty and would get again. All their smoothies looked amazing, so I had to try the Island Vibes smoothie. It contained pineapple, strawberries, coconut milk & apple juice. So refreshing. I can see why this one is a customer favorite. While I was there I had to grab one of their baked goods to take home, so I settled on the lemon and raspberry poppyseed cupcake. It was good, but I wished it had a stronger lemon flavor to pair with the raspberry frosting. The service was friendly, prompt, and they love dogs. We had a pup with us and they quickly refreshed the water bowl and asked if they could give his noggin a tussle. I ate here back when they were a food truck! I find it really convenient to meet a friend here or place a to go order online. My favorite dishes are their Asian rice bowl, their smoothies (my kiddo craves the island vibes one) and their rose latte created an addiction for me! I also like their smoothie bowls and they will accommodate any food allergy they can. They've also made mishaps right for me when it's been their mistake with an order and given me an item free next time which I appreciate a lot. I've always had good service here. read more

It's a Local Favorite for Good Reason. I absolutely love going to Heart Bowls for an occasional Iced Chai latte and a protein ball, or even the avocado toast (which is exceptionally delicious!) The staff here is wonderful and owner Katie makes sure to bring in the best staff for this incredible environment! I may not spell their names correctly, but Macy, Lindsey and Whitney are often there when I stop in for my favorite beverage, and they always have the most genuinely friendly smiles, they are always kind and helpful, and they make sure to exceed my expectations. The menu is loaded with mouthwatering options that are incredibly health-focused. The atmosphere is delightful inside and the courtyard is quaint and quite beautiful! What a delicious surprise! I was passing through Sandpoint early one morning and came across Heart Bowls when I was looking for a cup of coffee and maybe a bit to eat. The window-lined shop is light and bright. The folks behind the counter were friendly and fast. I had a beautifully prepared peppermint mocha along with their loaded avocado toast. As I was taking my first bite of those microgreens and balsamic reduction a local walked in with a load of fresh greens (the same ones that were on my toast!) I lingered awhile to do some work (and this review) and locals were in and out. I really enjoyed the fresh ingredients and delicious creations. Won't be returning after paying a mandatory 20% gratuity on your order. I cannot think of a more arrogant and unnecessary business practice. I know it's not the workers(which are professional and kind), and didn't take out the frustration on them. I tip well, and certainly more than 20% at times, BASED ON SERVICE, which all tips and/or gratuity should be. I'm not sure what prompted the "anti-American" complaint. As an American, I felt very welcome and was treated with respect. Not only are all the options at this fantastic little food truck, but the staff are friendly and fast. We went twice over our three-day visit to Sandpoint. The bowl was good, but the values of the company shouldn't be so integrated into the food. Why can't we have açaí bowls without politics? Service seemed fine, but when I asked if they had any honey, they said they don't offer it. Isn't honey a core part of any açaí bowl for many people? I also felt as though I was treated less than for being male since the company is so directed towards women. The setting was okay, but it felt a little cramped. Transplant from Seattle and this is the crap I don't miss. I'm a vegetarian Bernie Sanders loving hippy. But you know what I don't love? Bait and switch. You cannot advertise prices and then have a 20% gratuity mandatory. Talk about entitlement. Doesn't matter the level of service provided, instead of YOU paying a livable wage with correct advertised prices, you choose to make it an entitlement. You know as well as I do with prices like $6 for avocado toast (or$10 for a freaking breakfast sandwich), no one would stop in if they knew it was really $7.20+tax 8or $12). Get out of town with those prices. We don't need this place turning into another Vail. You got me once, shame on you. This place is a must when looking for a fresh, healthy alternative. When I visit Sandpoint every summer it's my go-to spot. Very pleasant employees and usually great service. They started as a food truck with usually 2-3 employees and now are brick and mortar with about 6 employees in a prime location. The major change, however, is a 20% gratuity tax that's forced to be paid by the customers. I realize the location likely costs a lot more, but this isn't the way to promote love to your loyal clients. A gratuity is usually the reward for great service and great food...and the employees "thrive" when they are paid a living-wage by the owner. A fair wage without guilt-taxing is a lovely sentiment. Just raise the prices if you have to, but 20% + 6% state taxes is 26% uptick on every purchase! This will push me towards City Beach Organics or Yafay Bistro. Lots of other healthy organic choices in town now. read more

LOVED this food truck! I had their "soup of the day" which was a southwest quinoa and it was so delicious I bought another bowl of it to take to my mom. If you want a really healthy (all plant-based, dairy-free, gluten-free) breakfast or lunch this place is hard to beat. Awesome bowls and smoothies, soup, and treats. Yay! A place in Sandpoint that isn't bbq and does healthy food extremely well!! Today I had the açaí bowl and it was outstanding. The toppings were varied and delicious and unique. My favorite was the chia pudding. My kids and I devoured it at City Beach and loved every spoonful. And please ignore the other reviews from people who can't read and base their food choices on other people's political or ethical views. Ordered an açaí bowl and a nice cream. The açaí bowl ranks high up there with the best we've had on Oahu at a legit Brazilian food truck. In fact, it's better than any açaí bowl we've had in big cities like Seattle and LA. Super proud of this little food truck in Sandpoint for getting it right! Not too sweet, very refreshing and healthy. The chocolate nice cream was also oh so creamy in consistency and chocolaty in flavor. GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, GREAT VISION. It is always nice to come across the diamond in the rough. I typically focus my review notes of a place on Happy Cow, and use Yelp to find more details or at times a good laugh on review notes thrown out there. This is my first review on YELP, so I wanted to address some of the previous ratings and comments where people tried to use their own misrepresentation of facts and simple mindedness to try and berate this lovely business. Now I do not know any of these people on a personal level, but in reading the two negative reviews of this fine establishment, I did find it curious how both simply threw out some random negative opinions with ZERO substance and very much lacking in character. This of course would be the title line if I was reviewing the reviewer in each of these instances. So for clarity, I would like to say this; When you attack someone on the basis of being "UnAmerican", you kind of box yourself into a corner quite quickly as those of us who understand what "America", in this case the United States of America and what it represents is freedom of expression. Including your selfish take on what you feel "American" represents. Furthermore, when you say American, it comes off as ignorant anyway, as "America" represents not just the USA, but the whole of Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America. On the second review where the one star was given and a blatant claim of "food poisoning" claimed, with no explanation or further detail also is riddled with ignorance. Truth is that a plant based food truck is your safest bet in NOT contracting any forms of food bacteria. When plants are subjected to these forms of bacteria that might cause your typical "food poisoning", it is because it had contact in some shape or form with an animal bi-product. This accusation is pure and simple an attack on the business, by using fear and a platform that allows ignorance to flourish behind the veils of web based anonymity. You both need to grow up and appreciate that there are those of us here around you trying to save this planet of ours, use our voices and platforms for good instead of evil, and simply do the right thing out of love for one another, not hate. I am saddened by what I have seen up here while visiting, but have hope when I visit this diamond in the rough with these strong women of character and perseverance. Of course the fact I gave these two ANY recognition is counter productive, but still...I like a long winded funny story on Yelp as much and the next person. read more
