I…read morestarted as a beginner, a bit skeptical about Qi Gong, but willing to give it a try & very happy that I did. Sue's warm personality & nonjudgmental attitude makes each class a welcoming, safe place to learn Qi Gong. It's not difficult & it's rewarding. I highly recommend taking one or more classes from Sue. You won't regret it and you may find, like I did, that it makes a difference in your life. The weekly class taught by Sue is called B.A.S.I.C.S: B=Breath & Balance, A=Awareness, S=Strength, I=Integration, C=Core, S=Stretch. It's a gentle work out combining some Qi Gong movements, breath work, balance & mobility movements, & brain exercises. It has helped to decrease my anxiety & tension, increase my flexibility & coordination, increase mindfulness, & to feel better both physically & mentally. Classes are small so we are able to interact with others. As we work on ourselves, we also laugh at times when somebody shares a comment or funny experience. Sue is a very caring person & always watching the class whether to help with a movement or to suggest an alternative way to deal with pain. She creates a nurturing environment. I always leave feeling better physically & mentally.

From the owner: Sue Brian offers beginner-friendly Qigong, breathwork, and B.A.S.I.C.S.+ (Breath and Balance,…read moreAwareness, Strength, Integration, Core, and Stretch), a functional movement program designed to improve strength, balance, mobility, posture, and confidence for everyday life. Sue currently teaches B.A.S.I.C.S.+ and Qigong at Evergreen Physical Therapy, leads Qigong classes and workshops at Greenheart Yoga in Pasadena, and also offers live Zoom classes and an online library of guided practices that can be enjoyed from anywhere. In person class locations vary, and advance registration is required. Visit SueBrian.com for current classes, workshops, and online offerings. No experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome.

What stands out most is his deep understanding of the body as a whole--how every choice, habit, or imbalance connects and contributes to overall well-being. Through the years and various health challenges, he's consistently helped me find relief and balance. No matter what's out of alignment, I trust that he will get to the root and guide me back to center--he always does. This is actually my first time writing a review, simply because Christopher doesn't self-promote, and I only recently discovered he had a Yelp page. If you're seeking someone who truly sees and supports the whole of you, Christopher is it.

Over that time, he has helped me with a wide range of issues, but most notably my eczema, something no one else was ever able to make a meaningful dent in. His approach is incredibly thoughtful and comprehensive. He takes the time to truly understand what's going on rather than treating symptoms in isolation. On top of that, he's a stellar conversationalist, which makes every session both effective and genuinely enjoyable. Chris is the rare practitioner who combines deep expertise with real care for his patients. I'd recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

It is not everyday that you meet someone who you can completely feel at peace with. She is very helpful and offers resources to mental and physical healing. Attending her Qi Gong online classes (for almost a year now) has improved my mental and physical state. With all the every day events, stressors and time-crunches that happen in our lives, I look forward to going to her class each week. I appreciate that she is cognizant about time by always starting on time and also ends on time as well. I have learned a lot about Qi Gong and I cannot wait to keep on learning and reaping the amazing benefits of Qi Gong! I rave about her class to so many people and my soul is truly grateful. On one occasion, my husband was experiencing hard pains in his right wrist radiating through his arm, likely due to prolonged use on his computer for work. He enlisted the help of Jan for a remote energy healing via the phone. He had preparation prior to the session. He was given mediations and exercises to perform afterward. His symptoms and pain vanished. We are forever grateful to know Jan and experience her gift of health and wellness weekly. Dr. Yan is wonderful -- not only is he very knowledgeable and skilled, but he has also taught me a lot about wellness and how to better take care of my body. Now I come in once a month for maintenance, and I rarely have the kind of neck pain or stiffness that used to make it hard to even turn my head. The staff here are also all so kind, friendly, and welcoming, which always makes the experience even better. One of my favorite treatments here is the meridian therapy. It uses a machine together with professional massage techniques, and I always find it incredibly relaxing and helpful. I highly recommend this place. If you've been dealing with physical discomfort and haven't found much relief through Western medicine, this is definitely somewhere worth trying.

This seems like a prolonged way to make money for them and not a focus on the wellbeing of the customer. Stay Away.

I whole heartedly recommend their new martial arts and mediation program (the SAGE program for children) to all of my friends and family and finally I'm getting around to recommending it here. The long story: The Taoist Institute offers instruction in various martial arts and has a lineage of masters tracing back to a Taoist temple in Canton China. ( I know this because since discovering this place I've been diving into the history and it really is fascinating.) Up until recently The Taoist Institute didn't have classes for children. About a year ago I heard about the SAGE program started by Shifu LB at a Rotary Club meeting and loved the concept. He was teaching school age children about meditation, mind and body control through Kung Fu exercises with great results for the children in the program. It was exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't interested in my daughter sparring with other children, what I was looking for was something that can teach her to focus, breathe, be in the moment, move her body with intention and Shifu LB is a master at communicating these exercises to children. He often draws on popular pop refs from the Avatar and Kung Fu Panda to help guide the children. His own daughter participates in the class and she is phenomenal. For adults they have programs where you can learn how to properly use various swords and weapons. Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Kung Fu, and more all taught with authenticity by the institutes passionate instructors. I could go on...it really is a local treasure and if you're looking for authentic martial arts instruction for you or your children, look no further.

I wanted to continue but, life unfortunately has a terrible habit of getting in the way. I was a student for two years and had a blast. I learned so much from Dr. Totten, I dearly wish I'd been able to remain. After COVID, I tried to find my way back to the taoist institute only to find no phone calls or emails were returned. My wife and I even drove over during regular business hours but it was closed. We just couldn't figure it out. Everything was still there when I looked through the window. Very odd! I can only give one star due to this.
