Best place to eat in Martin, TN! I can eat at the Hearth for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is always hot, and seasoned just right. It's country food! Catfish is always on the buffet. Worst service we have ever seen in a restaurant. Nobody acknowledged we were there so we grabbed menus our self. Still nothing so we just got up and started eating from the food bar ( We wanted to order off the menu). Still nothing. Had to flag someone down to ask for a drink. Watched a waitress take the money off another table but leave the mess. Saw another look for money on the table and leave the mess and go tidy up another table nobody had been sitting at. Saw another say there is no money on that table. Went to the register to pay because no one ever brought us a ticket. Didn't leave a dime for a tip. Food was mediocre at best. We were there on 6/13/19 for lunch.just so the owner or Mgr. can see who was on duty. We have never seen anyone care less for their job ever No wonder they had a help wanted sign posted. I have eaten at The Hearth many times. I usually eat the buffet and I've eaten there a few times for various holidays. It's usually very good. When I went there today with a friend, I didn't expect anything different other than no buffet due to the Coronavirus and social distancing. That wasn't a surprise. We ordered our teas, fried pickles, she ordered a salad and I ordered a steak. They asked if we wanted the normal rolls as we waited and of course we said yes, the rolls with strawberry butter is one of the best parts of the experience at The Hearth. We didn't receive strawberry butter nor did they even as if we wanted any, we didn't even get normal butter for our rolls, we had to ask. When we received our food, my friends salad was 75% inedible red cabbage and the chicken could've been mistaken for croutons because it was so inedibly dry and flavorless. She had ordered a FRIED chicken salad but they brought her grilled instead, she didn't feel like waiting for them to remake it so she just settled. My steak was the smallest steak I've ever seen in my life, it looked more like a steak off of the kid's menu. It was slightly overcooked but still moist. It could've used seasoning but I mean I was starving so I ate it. Our meal costed us $37 and we both left disgusted, disappointed and still hungry. My friend only took maybe two or three bites of her salad before just asking for a to go box which she ended up throwing away at the nearest trash can. They tell us to eat and shop local which I usually love to do but if that's the quality that they're going to serve me, I'd rather just go to McDonald's. Yelp asks us to select our rating so that's why I gave it a one star but I feel like The Hearth deserves a negative 20 for that meal. Southern Food Buffet ... Ugh. If you're old or a cop or enjoy bland, fatty/greasy food then you'll love it here. Otherwise, stay away. There is nothing special here. However, being fatty and greasy makes it great hangover food ... Then again, coming in hungover will get some weird looks from the old people. read more

Went for the first time yesterday. We live in Union City and usually drive to Dyersburg to Grecian. After eating at the Hearth we won't have to do that. Everything was delicious. They have the best banana pudding ever. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back. read more

This was my first time eating here and the food was great and so was the service. I had order the grill chicken sandwich and it was probably one of the best sandwiches I have had. I did not try the Buffett but it did look very good. It has a home town feel and everyone is very nice. The waitress had told me they messed my order up and there would be no charge.I did not expect that and was more than willing to pay. Now that is good service, I do live over an hour away but plan on going back with my family. read more

These people need to give The Hearth another try. I was there last week and had the buffet. It was very good. Food that was to be hot, was hot. Food that was to be cold, was cold. Everything had a distinct flavor. Each salad had it's own flavor, not like some buffets that poor the same dressing over all their salads. I would recommend trying this wonderful buffet. The food was alright. Not the best food I have ever had. The service was not the best either. It took awhile for someone to come to our table to take our order. The salad bar was a mess but it was stocked. I think that things would run smoother if a hostess was seating you instead of you just going in a finding a seat and waiting and not really knowing if you are gonna get waited on. read more

Don't listen to the negative reviews. Found the place by recommendation after church this morning. The lunch buffet was wonderful. The service was top notch. They were busy but handled it well. Great atmosphere. If we lived in this town it would be at the top of our regular places to eat. read more
