AWFUL RESERVATION EXPERIENCE It is a nice property, walking distance to all shops, restaurants in Aspen. I was in Aspen over July 4 week. We made reservations for this property to return over Labor Day weekend for the JAS Music Festival. I physically went to this property looked at it, and reserved three nights. They took 50% deposit. Later that evening, I got a voicemail that they had to cancel my reservation because they oversold their property over Labor Day weekend. I called Scott, the property GM. He confirmed that they did oversell and his employee should have never made reservations for Labor Day Weekend. He offered no apologies, no discount for future stays. It was very unprofessional. They have yet to refund my 50% deposit (about $1600). read more

All employees were very friendly and accommodating. Property is pretty. Apparently a student of Frank Loyd Wrights designed this building. It has the look of a FLW building. The lounge is really nice. Breakfast was great! Unfortunately the rooms are dated and need a facelift. They do there best to keep them clean. It looks like the last facelift was at least 25 years ago. The walls are paper thin so don't plan on sleeping in past 6:30 AM. Everything in Aspen is way way over priced. We knew that coming in, but we didn't expect the upkeep and maintenance to be so deferred. Aspen is the typical destination resort. Getting you once is the goal. Hoping you will come back is not. So for the reasons above I cannot recommend this property. read more

We stayed at Hearthstone House the week of Fourth of July and have nothing but good things to say. The location was excellent, a short walk to downtown Aspen. We were there during COVID precautions, but there was still a modified breakfast served and the traditional happy hour was modified to individual cheese platters and wine. Our stay at the Hearthstone House couldn't have been better. Excellent location two blocks from downtown Aspen and the free city busses to all of the other ski hills. Wonderful architecture and furnishings in the rooms and common areas. Everything is clean and high quality. The hot tub and comfy beds are prefect for sore muscles. The full, made-to-order breakfast and the wine and cheese happy hour provides opportunity for socializing and sharing ski stories/tips. We met some great folks during our stay! The staff are super friendly and helpful. On the whole, visiting the Hearthstone House feels like staying with your most hospitable friends. read more

Stayed here for two nights with my boyfriend and loved it. The location is really great, just a few blocks from downtown. Our room was huge with a very comfortable king sized bed. Everything was clean and orderly and they had nice Aveda products in the bathroom. Slightly loud outside due to the busy street, but not too bad. Best part? The free breakfast in the morning! A great selection of items and made or order omelettes as well. This easily saved us $50 a day since we didn't have to go out for breakfast. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They let us check in extremely early since the room was ready. Nice courtyard & hot tub too. Definitely recommend! read more

Overall, we survived! The rooms are extremely small. Ours was a bit outdated with leaking windows and the television on the sink counter, due to lack of space. The bathroom was extremely small with little space around the commode. On a positive note the majority of staff members we interacted with were very friendly. We did attempt to change rooms, but apparently they were booked solid and unable to do so. The area is pretty quiet with easy walking access to downtown aspen and shuttle stops for the ski resorts. read more

Loved the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired architecture of The Hearthstone House. Simple lines and furnishings, but comfortable and inviting. The rooms are small and the bathroom smaller, but service and location make up for the lack in space. Their complimentary breakfast is more than your usual continental breakfast with eggs and waffles. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. You can't beat the location... right in the heart of downtown - close to restaurants, bars and shopping. Wish the hotel had airconditioning... it did got hot in the room in mid-June. Oh, and as an added bonus, we got a visit from a bear! The staff were quick to shut the front door before he could get into the lobby. read more

You are definitely paying for location here! Upon entering the inn, I had my concerns -- it honestly reminds me somewhat of my old college dorm. However, the location is perfect for walking to many local hotspots & there are even bikes available for guests use. Also complimentary happy hour, the breakfast was fantastic, & the staff very kind and helpful. This place does have its own charm, just know that it's by no means luxurious. read more

We booked one night through hotetonight, we arrived late but found a letter with instructions with our name by the door. Its location is very good, close to every thing Aspen has to offer. The breakfast is very good, much better than your average free continental breakfast you get in small-mid size hotels. I wouldn't give it 5 because the room is smaller than average. read more

Well the carabiner on the room key reads, "50 Years In Aspen, CO" and I believe it!. the furniture in our room is at least 30 years old, (including the mattress). 50 years and one renovation! Yes, the hotel has many attributes and celebrations to Frank Loyd Wright, but even FLW knew when enough was enough, and things were dated or just plain old. he was a revolutionary because he turned the world of art, architecture & design on his head, & and the hearthstone house room interior is a complete dud, from linens to quilts to wall sconces and don't forget, awful mattresses. Pros:They do have a nice lounge area. There are many FLW inspired features in the common area that have been brought into 21st century, with a few touches that haven't. Breakfast does include made to order eggs, very nice touch. The room is clean and staff is friendly. read more

I could comment positively on many aspects of the Hearthstone House, as I have stayed at this establishment many times. However, I am going to limit my input to breakfast. I just ate the best Greek omelette I have ever had - and I have had a few... It was the perfect size, skillfully cooked with just the correct amount of feta cheese and kalamata olives. Admittedly, that is my favorite type of omelette and I was excited to see it at the top of the egg menu this morning. In addition to the egg options, the hotel offers a full continental breakfast. Today the choices were fresh grapefruit, pastries and bagels. I opted to limit myself to the omelette but am already wondering what tomorrow may bring... read more

Don't stay in the lower level. Tiny tiny tiny rooms. Very cramped. Minimal drawers. Tiny bathroom. Also I was in a room facing the entrance walkway. Very noisy location. Staff was nice. The reviews were otherwise excellent, so I chalk my issues up to the room. read more
