The owners, Pam and David, have great pride of ownership of their property. The facility is very organized in the way it is laid out. The cross-ties, stalls, sheds, pastures, arenas and round-pens are laid-out so there is always space and it never seems crowded even on a busy weekend morning. The grounds are well maintained. Arenas and round-pens are dragged on a consistent basis. The best part of Heartland Equestrian Center is how incredibly friendly, supportive, and respectful the trainers and boarders are to each other. The horses are well-taken care of by the employees as they feed the horses at the same time for both feedings. The stalls are 24 X 24 with a sand footing. Because of the sand, there are not pee spots as I have experienced at an other ranch (I had to supplement with dry stall, wood pellets, and shavings) therefore it is less expensive boarding my horse here!

Happy horse and its a beautiful day here at heartland

I love this ranch. The people and staff are friendly, my two large breed horses are well fed, and cared for. I absolutely love the facility! I would recommend this ranch to anyone who loves their horses, and likes friendly faces. Help is usually available for any needs. We have amazing boarders to keep watchful eyes on our beloved animals and we are a very active ranch with lots of cool stuff to enjoy. 90 horses capacity lots to see and love here!

My daughter started taking lessons here about 4 weeks ago. She's young for lessons and at first I thought the instructor was telling her too much information at once, but I didn't interfere I just watched and she picked it up immediately. My daughter really likes the way she talks to her like she's a little adult and learns easily from her. The place is very nice, there are a lot of horses boarding here. They are very kind to the horses. It is very clean. It's open it's big and it's pretty.

    Horse and rider

My daughter, 13, has been riding horses at various stables throughout Markham, Mount Albert and Durham. Without a doubt, Heartland offers a gentle but professional approach at teaching young riders in a top knotch facility with extremely healthy and happy horses! Please ignore the negative reviews and do your own research as I found out it was a personal feud fuelling most of the negative reviews and no reflection on the facility nor the team whatsoever. As an unbiased reviewer with no affiliation, I can offer this review with confidence. Heartland is a wonderful equestrian facility!

The facility is exceptional and perfect for someone who wants to show on a budget. The borders are super nice and take great care of their horses. All of the trainers are kind and well experienced. I truly love this barn.

I started off by doing an hour trail ride back in January and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. Then I came back a few weeks later for their Cowboy Spirit days where they teach you the basics of horsemanship. It was so much fun and I made new friends who I keep in contact and meet up with. I'm new to riding and the equine world but this ranch has really jumpstarted the hobby for me. They really love and trust their horses and treat them so well which makes all the experiences so comfortable and encouraging. What really stood out to me was how welcoming they are to people who are new to horses and you can tell they genuinely care about you learning and developing the skills to work with and around the horses. I've visited several ranches now and some of them can be very unwelcoming to people with no experience but that wasn't the case here. So happy I found this gem in San Diego, always worth the 40 minute drive from my part of town.

She paired each of them with a horse that was perfect match for their energy. They did a 1 hour ride and all came back with big smiles, thank you so much for the memorable experience Gabby! You can tell all the horses are well taken care of and that everyone there loves them very much! We will be back for sure!!!

We really thought we were going to love this place. I…read morealready wrote a great review six months ago because my daughter was enjoying her lessons with the trainer Julia (although she was really not supposed to be doing lessons and was actually the farm manager). The owner, Evonne, definitely promised a lot as mentioned in the other review by Chris (it's hidden so please go look at hers and others that are there). I was sold just like Chris and other parents in that she told us on how amazing and talented Julia was, after all she was phenomenal Grand Prix Jumper who competed in Europe and all. In Evonne's words, "she's the real deal." I was hooked and my daughter trained with Julia learning to walk and trot, how to tack up, technique of holding reins, etc. Well, that all ended abruptly when we found out Julia was fired. Julia was never truly hired for lessons, and Julia was given SO many! Julia had agreed to do lessons for us and some other kiddos who were further along now, but not for a pony lead line lesson (she's way too valuable and experienced for that). The other young gal trainers should only have been given those, and we all knew it. Sadly, I watched surprise lessons pop up here and there, no warning for Julia and double booked for all the trainers. And these poor horses! We watched so many horses turn lame because the lesson horses went out multiple times a day from Tues through Saturday (they don't have nearly enough rideable horses to have a great lesson program). We loved those horses, and will definitely miss them. But there was no way we could stay at this facility once trainer Julia was let-go. Safety is the number one concern as a parent, and as we finished out our final lessons, we knew and saw that safety concerns were not a high priority anymore and my daughter would not advance as a rider (we never saw anyone jumping or even jumping equipment like cross rails or poles for 7 months). It was a HUGE mistake to let Julia go. This place could have achieved a great riding program with her.

I HAVE RECEIPTS FROM EVERY SINGLE BOARD PAYMENT. Thank GOD I keep all my receipts, and have a backup digital copy as well. For more than 6 months, every time I saw Yvonne I asked for an invoice and "stated please tell me my balance, I want to pay it in full. EVERY TIME she replied "I'll get that for you sweetie...no problem" THE Only way to get to get AN INVOICE was to put in my 30 day notice... Which Yvonne FINALLY PROVIDED A "final incorrect bill" of $2500. The ranch DOES NOT KEEP ANY RECORDS OF PAYMENTS MADE BY THEIR BOARDERS. Zilch, zero. Lied to my face about this, and slandered others. They keep no records at all. She blamed others for 'stealing them.' My final board check of $600 was never cashed, despite handing it to Evonne. The stable does not deposit board payments.... I had to call the Sheriff for assistance removing my horse from Windsor and "keep the peace...." Only board here if you want PTSD on departure... Immediately after I gave my 30 day notice the situation became dangerous for my steed. They" lost" my brand new Winter blanket...$600. I do not recommend boarding here, it was a nightmare!!!
