I'm obsessed with their Aussie sausage rolls. I grab a quick americano and this roll and I'm set for the day. It's rich, flaky, ample sized and juicy. It's enough to split between two people or selfishly indulge. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're on a street corner block cafe in DC or LES NY. There's a constant bustle energy in the kitchen, the light shining right where patrons sit is mood lighting for days. And the patio gives you a solid security for social distancing but still feels...well, social without everyone being in your space. Plenty of personal picnic tables spaced our and corn hole. I have mixed feelings about this place, but I decided to give it 4 stars because it's still excellent food, it's just a personal preference to not be wowed. The reason I simply can't loooove this place is because I think their prices are outrageous. $10 for scrambled eggs and toast or $5-6 for a baked good. I got avocado toast (which was already $14) and to simply add ONE egg on top was an additional $3. To me, this is the type of establishment that caters more to tourists because I can't imagine myself ever becoming a regular with their prices. The food *is* good and particularly colorful, this is a place that clearly cares about aesthetics and that's really what you're paying for- being able to take a picture of food that looks amazing and tastes good. The interior is rather trendy and hip, although it's a tight squeeze. They have great options for outdoor dining, which I appreciate. The ~vibes~ are the best thing about dining here. Really wanted to love this place but just couldn't. The service was whack, they had me share a table with another group (not covid friendly!!) . The couple I was seated with had issues with their order. I can look past bad service for good food. When my pancakes came out they was badly burnt, not a bit crispy but totally charred. Amazing atmosphere! Such a local, hidden gem in East Nashville. The interior is full of light and plants, but has that cozy cafe ambiance. The food and beverages are absolutely phenomenal. I had the heartbeet latte, a unique and delicious twist on your typical coffee. The corn zucchini fritters (topped with avocado, bacon, poached egg, and a delicious dill goat cheese) were one of the best brunch items I've ever had. We split the ricotta hotcakes as a sweet treat. When I heard this place was finally open I was so excited! After hearing rumors about it for a month or two, I'm glad they were able to open, even during a pandemic. When I walked in I immediately loved the atmosphere, the area was very well lit with natural light. I was greeted by a very friendly barista who helped me decide what to get. Initially, I was stopping in for a cup of coffee and a pastry, but after seeing their chicken Katsu sandwich I couldn't resist! The latte was good, I really wish they would have had some specialty lattes, maybe something centered around Australian culture. Nonetheless, the latte was solid! The star of the show however, was the chicken Katsu sandwich! There was a perfect ratio amount of sauce to chicken and veggies - 10/10! I throughly enjoyed every bite and the bun was perfect. Overall have to give it a 4.5/5, I really hope as hearts grows, we can see more on the coffee side - would definitely recommend giving this place a shot! read more

Very cool restaurant in East Nashville! I've been to the Attaboy bar once a few months ago and had a fantastic experience there, so obviously I was excited when I heard they'd have a new Australian restaurant in the East side of town Went with their chicken katsu roll and..... it was absolutely delicious. So many flavors going on at once and you could honestly taste each layer of the sandwich. The atmosphere inside is really cool and reminds me of a greenhouse-type area in a way. They also have anything for basically any time of the day: breakfast/brunch, coffee, smoothies, baked goods, sandwiches, wine, cocktails, coffee... the list goes on and on. This was stop number one on our impromptu Nashville Honeymoon. We were looking for a brunch place, with coffee, that we could walk to from our Airbnb and decided we would check out Hearts. We were greeted quickly and given a minute to look over drink menus. We ordered an iced dirty chai, an espresso shot, a bloody mary (for my wife) and the Como Spritz for me. She enjoyed her bloody mary and I loved my drink. It was so refreshing, exactly what I wanted. I ordered the Godmother sandwich which was delicious! My wife ordered the Eggs benny which she thoroughly enjoyed! We initially ordered the Anzac biscuit but, after the server kindly informed us that it was more of a cookie than an American biscuit we pivoted to an order of fries which were SO GOOD! Today is National Pancake Day so I had to leave a review on these pancakes! The pancakes are really really fluffy and filling! They were sooo good and hit that sweet spot for me! I love the yogurt on top! The egg Benedict was good and I love the hash brown addition vs muffin. They have a versatile menu for both food and drinks and also have alcoholic drinks for those looking for that! The front parking lot is small but there is parking available. I'm not sure I've ever been to an Australian inspired restaurant before. (Outback does not count.) We went for breakfast abs had a great meal. As we often do on vacation when we are somewhere we probably won't get back to, we over ordered, wanting to try so much on the menu. The corn zucchini fritters with poached egg did not disappoint. The avocado toast was enough for two meals. The sausage rolls were a bit like meatloaf in pastry dough, but the star there was the tomato jam. My husband had the muesli. He didn't dislike it, but it wasn't something he would order again. Add in 4 drinks -- 1 hot tea, 1 Pelegríno, and two breakfast cocktails and it was a pricey breakfast. I have loved Hearts since they opened and it has never ever disappointed. The atmosphere is something super unique and a perfect neighborhood feel. The ricotta hotcakes change toppings depending the season but it's a perfect dish for one or for a table of friends to share. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of the service. We were seated before another table next to us, but the waitress went to them first and took forever to come back out just give us the menu. Then it took a long time for her to come back and take our order. She would come out, go to the other table, and instead of coming to us she would go back inside instead. Then we kept waiting for her to bring us the check and she finally came out and told us her card machine had been broken so we had to go inside to pay. I've been waiting for a good Australian coffeeshop in Nashville for forever (well, ok, a year). Hearts is an answer to that silent prayer. It, of course, opened just as I'm staying away from coffee and black tea for awhile for health reasons, but my iced matcha was still real good. And, even more of a surprise was their chicken katsu roll. It ended up being maybe the best chicken sandwich I've had in this city, and I say that knowing full well that hot chicken exists and we are known for it. But, please, trust me. I also ordered their spiced cauliflower to bring to lunch the next day (minus the egg I ate immediately). I've had many an ancient grain bowl, but this was just different enough and delicious enough to really stand out -- charred cauliflower, poached egg, farrow, quinoa, peanuts, shallot, pomegranate, goat cheese and chili crisp. Just wow. Hearts was super packed when I stopped by this weekend (good for them on the strong start!), so I had a bit of a wait on my order. One of the owners came by and made sure I took some of their crisp and chocolaty cookies for my patience. Hey, I'll wait any time. It was packed with flavor and a nice balance of the sweet from water sauce was on top. It was just disappointing cause the part that was supposed to be hot like the bread and egg were cold. I wasn't a fan of the bread used for the toast. It was extremely hard, they may have toasted it too long or maybe all the food on top was supposed to soften it. Who knows. To drink, I went with the Spicy Flamingo. Personally, I wouldn't get that again, so I would pass on that. It had a funky aftertaste. The service itself was lacking. When I sat, it took a while to get a menu. It was unclear my actual waiter was either. It looked like a joint collective on taking care of customers. One person brought the menu, another took my drink order, and a different one brought my food. Food took way too long to get to the table. I sat after one group and they received their food ate and left. 35 minutes passed, my drink was finished, and I noticed three other parties who had been seated, no sign of my food or waiter(s). Another 10 minutes pass and I see plates and it happens to be mine and the party of 3 who was sat 30 minutes after me. One of them actually ordered the same item as me so that was bizarre. As I'm eating the table across from me and next to me receive their food and they also go the same item as me. Not sure if it's just the lack of attention or the constant influx of customers, but I was disappointed with the service experience. read more

The lamb was a lean cut and cooked to perfection to be super tender and a little rare (which is my preference). Our waiter obviously didn't want to be there - he gave such a negative vibe, had to be chased down for silverware, for condiments for coffee, etc. Wanted to try their biscuits and the waiter said they ran out. Got avocado toast, which was good, but the portion was so tiny....it was really small for a brunch portion. Made a walk up to Hearts Saturday morning for breakfast to-go. The vibe inside is adorable, plant-focus with tables close together. Out back are picnic tables with umbrellas and corn hole for any adventurous guests. We waited 15mins before we were able to place our to-go order as the kitchen is very small and a number of parties had already arrived and ordered by 10am. After placing our order we waited patiently our front and discovered a beautiful Luna moth. That was a fun and unexpected treat. After almost 45mins we checked in with the front to find our order had been ready for some time. This was disappointing as no one called or alerted us, but we took the food to-go and enjoyed a delicious breakfast on our walk home. Everything we tried was extremely tasty; this included the sausage roll (although very salty), the godmother (a husband favorite), and the eggs Benny.
