My mom and I like to go thrifting every week and have been checking out all the different thrift…read morestores. We had gone to Compassion Planet back in November and were thrown off. The entire place was Christmas merchandise except for the back room which had cooking stuff in it. This is the room I found a beautiful collectible cookbook set for $25 and it now rests in my kitchen on display. All the other products we saw seemed to be fairly affordable and cheap, only problem is that my mom and I really don't go thrifting to find Christmas stuff. There were no clothes, furniture, tech, shoes, art, or fun trinkets and weird stuff. We were in and out very quickly. We will be back in the future to see what the store is normally like, as we assume it was only like that due to being right before Christmas. Staff was friendly, building was clean, and they managed to fit a decent amount of stuff inside. It doesn't seem like a place I would drive half an hour to, but if this is your local thrift then it seems nice. Definitely will be back soon to see what it's like outside of the holidays.

I found their prices to be extremely reasonable and they offer discount tags to reduce the prices even further for some items. Parking was pretty easy and I scored a small artificial tree with lights at a good price.

I've now been to quite a few barns and I would say with the amenities R2W sits at the top of the list. The images on their site are not from the actual location and are used purely to mislead. It's a deliberate effort to paint a false picture and hide the deteriorating conditions and mismanagement on the ground. They also claim there has been a change in leadership, but that is completely untrue. It's the same people behind the scenes, just under different labels. There is no real accountability, no transparency, and no meaningful change. Even worse, they've fabricated ownership claims, including a false narrative about Sarah Firpo buying the property, which simply isn't factual. This is just another example of how far they're willing to go to deceive the public and donors. The problems don't stop there--the positive reviews you'll find online are not real. Many of them are bought, staged, or written by close associates of the organization. They're carefully constructed to drown out legitimate criticism and give the false appearance of trustworthiness. Meanwhile, they continue to surround themselves with people who exhibit erratic, unsafe, and at times deeply concerning behavior. Rather than improve, they resort to attacking others' reputations, lying to people's faces, and manipulating those around them. Do your homework. Talk to people who've actually been there. Look past the staged photos and fake praise. If you're thinking about supporting or referring someone to this organization--don't. There are far better, safer, and more honest nonprofits out there.

For example, if Silver Pathways connects you with a board and care home for a family member, once you sign the agreement and pay your admission fees, Silver Pathways gets a "cut" which is fair and understandable; they are a business after all. Just be aware that the businesses that Silver Pathways is in these types of structured commission agreements have been utter disappointments, hence my long overdue review: Silver Pathways was recommended to me from an out-of-town family member who did a Google search and really was trying to remotely help me during a tumultuous time. I now wish I would have never let this person "help" me and my family because Silver Pathways is not in business for the right reasons. The only real positive that I can say about this business is that the owner and her assistant are responsive and communicative. Now, for the rest. The folks who they will connect you with are complete and total garbage. There is a Lewis Carroll poem called 'The Walrus and the Carpenter' that comes to mind when I think of how I so trustingly followed the lead of Silver Pathways. I was connected with a board and care in Auburn called College Way Residential and they were a dumpster fire and a half. This place had zero business acumen, and the owner, Delia, is a passionate and religious nut job. I was also connected to a now defunct business called Pacific Home Medical whom refused to take a return of two, brand new and unopened pole grabber things, even less than a month after I purchased them and had the receipt to show my proof of purchase. After thousands of dollars of business had been done with them in a week's time, I felt they were trivial in not accepting the return of maybe $30.00 and I felt that they were really kicking me when I was down. Months after I met with Silver Pathways, I got connected to Senior Care Solutions in Sacramento, but they also work with Placer County services. Senior Care Solutions is a legitimate business who connected me with many good folks along the way. Save your time, don't work with Silver Pathways, and go straight to Senior Care Solutions. And if Silver Pathways reads this, don't bother reaching out to me. The damage has been done to your reputation and I hope you are on the receiving end of such horrible care in your old age. Karma is coming for you.
